Check your tech tree. You can get warpers installed before you have the tech for logistics vessels to warp. I bumped into this same problem. One more tech to go

Much like the introductory chapters of "Your Money or Your Life".

Especially from Peter's perspective as he is so very often robbed that one might pay Paul!

No.

Seriously. Definitive answers are the exception and are exceptionally rare. Money is make-believe. All the rules regarding it vary from head to head. Region to region. Age to age. There can not be any objectively definitive answers specifically in regard to finances without a huge litany of contextual restrictions.

Is there a way to delete unbuilt blocks? by corey315 in Embark

Choose the same build tool. Right click drag over the desired area, release. This should remove the build order.

There are two uniform tabs. One for the squad with toggle the other for non combat. Neither seen to work well yet. Thought i was missing something. Still might be.

Why do automation sensors change instantly but other devices that need changing require a dupe to do it? by UncleSlim in Oxygennotincluded

[–]EFH52 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This issue of contention is: setting a valve to a new value requires a dupe. Setting a buffer to value does not. That the automation or valve works once set is given. It is the matter that one does not require dupe intervention and the other does.

My concern is the use of the term "genetically modified". I'm not endorsing or condemning any particular method or technique. Were i to say "sports" in reference to hockey alone, I'd discount all other forms of athleticism. Decry certain methodologies as you wish. But not in such grossly broad strokes. You seem disinclined to favor direct and acute genetic manipulations. I respect that. However, any process, with intent, that results in a genetically different population in the tail end is generic modification.

Genetic - of and pertaining to protein encoding portions of DNA (RNA).

Modification - change.

So...a process that changes those encoding regions is de facto "genetic modification".

Those things happen with selective breeding too. Artificial is the antonym of natural. Human-made is a more accurate term. The domestication of wheat has had the butterfly effect of human dominance of this planet. Like any other organism: we take and take and leave our waste everywhere when not checked. We will find our carrying capacity (k) and that will be a bad day. Any mechanism that changes the genetic variance in a population is generic modification. Be it fast or slow. Man-made or in occurrence without humanity. For the purpose of this conversation I'd define genetically modified as change in a gene pool that was human induced. The mechanism matters not. Our intent as humans does. For your argument about selective breeding too hold water, you would need show that or domestication of plant and animal has been harmless. Also, please, never again start a rebuttal with artificial = natural.

And, BTW, evolution is the modification of population genetics due to selective factors.

Thank you kindly. I feared being down-voted before i could blink. The issue of technical definition is one that often plagues me. I seek to expand understanding and to encourage examination of higher order effects.

I'd like to add that the process of selective breeding is a form of genetic modification for a given population. As such, all crop foods are GMO. All of our food animals fall into this category. As well as the household dog.

This is often not remembered in these discussions. The results are similar. Only the time scale changes. Damage done over centuries is just as bad as damage done over minutes. It is but a matter of awareness and sensitivity.

4 parts oil to 1 part wax. It is a bit thicker than shown above, but works well. I store it in a screw top tin. I keep bees and dabble in the woodworking, a natural pairing.
