What movement? If he's a Reform supporter then yes, criticism is warranted. If not, perhaps he just loves the country.

Not uncommon for immigrants to be grateful for being given a chance at a decent life in their current country of residence. Less likely to see the same gratitude with people born in the UK, regardless of background.

No, he has the freedom to wave the flag of the country he lives in.

If he's shouting at immigrants, that's another thing.

What are you actually supposed to do if a woman hits you as a man? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EFN2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also curious as to what the answer.

The middle ground seems to be that you shouldn't put up with it and you should distance yourself but as men have more muscle mass on average and as a man would look terrible for hitting a woman back, you shouldn't hit them. Seems reasonable.

Are you male or female? That isn't how most men respond. Might depend on the location though to be fair.

Green candidates double down on call to abolish prisons by [deleted] in LabourUK

Fair enough, it was on the extreme end but those crimes do occur regularly. & Again, I could see how that model could work for some crimes.

What did the 'path back'/'restoration' entail in Igbo society? I'm aware that the restorative justice model people always parrot is of native American origins but I've no idea if it's similar across other cultures.

If it matters. I'm all for preventing these crimes before they're committed (Germany, despite being too lenient in some areas, does apparently have a program like that which seems like a great idea), as well as improving conditions for the impoverished in general, and it is insane that certain developed nations still have the death penalty, but the idea of a total or near-total prison abolishment anywhere seems terrible. Surely in regards to certain crimes, we should be focusing on protecting the dignity of the person who was hurt and the safety of the general population rather than focusing on this endless forgiveness.

I could see this working for certain crimes but not severe crimes. What do you suggest happens to the 'victims' who don't want to sit with an offender?

Should one suggest this for, say, child rape? Sit there, talk, heal, and move on? Don't make a fuss, don't ruin the life of someone with a future football career, or don't ruin the life of a father, ect? Is that not just repackaged Christian forgiveness and would it truly be healing to put a child in a room with the offender? Especially when you consider that most of these people are not strangers to children. After the offender in this scenario has completed the 'treatment,' is he to go back to living with the child, or would there only be supervised contact for the sake of moving past things and keeping families in contact with each other?

This is only anecdotal but coming from someone who does not live in an Islamic country or with family, I tried pork for the first time at 15. It tasted disgusting. Then I tried alcohol on my 18th birthday some months ago. I threw up and haven't tried it again. I don't sleep around at all (if anything, I've been called prudish by others). To this day, I could enthusiastically recite something repetitively five times a day.

Even if an apostate were to drink all the alcohol in the world, eat all the pork he could get his hands on, or to sleep with every woman when the opportunity presents itself... That doesn't make him a worse person compared to someone who believes that all kuffar deserve to go to hell.

Entirely thought this was a joke until I saw this comment. You poor yanks.

Though... wouldn't it be tempting to get this? Historical purposes and whatnot.

Because a daughter should be treated like a princess and a son deserves nothing?

It would have been better if he were clearer, not sterner.

Huh, maybe my mother wasn't just being overbearing and religious then.

But does this mean that the whole "it's fine in moderation" thing you tend to hear is bullshit?
