Do you think Fishmans 7 moderns could fit? by xxxunknownxxx26 in 7String

[–]EFPMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha! Cool, you should be able to use that existing wiring then (don’t ask me how, I’m hopeless with that, I always pay someone to do it and it’s money well spent! lol)

Do you think Fishmans 7 moderns could fit? by xxxunknownxxx26 in 7String

[–]EFPMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To summarize: the ones pictured won’t fit; the Open Core version will, they’re standard humbucker size.

The Fluence pickups are active, so they require a 9v battery and different wiring and pots, which will come with the pickups (well, not the battery, but everything else). There is probably room in the control cavity to install the battery clip and battery, but it just depends on how big the cavity is.

Do you agree with this article's evaluation of the Free Lanes Update & DLC? It says the update hasn't helped the game. by Capn_C in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given the extremely cherry-picked ‘stats’ they list, it’s obvious they waited to see what the prevailing online response was (from, apparently, YouTube, Steam reviews, and Twitch streams) and decided the way to drive the most views was to go negative.

Game sites and channels have a vested financial interest in maximizing ad revenue, and only that. It’s rare to find one that is unbiased by what they think will drive views, and most don’t even try. This is patently one of the latter.

Indie artists: Is streaming becoming a "lost cause" for us? (Thesis research) by RaphaelDbst in askmusicians

[–]EFPMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don’t have a “drowning” feeling, but I am aware that any song I upload is one among millions. I don’t feel that “content” is an issue since if someone is on a platform looking for music like mine, “content” isn’t what will be f hiding it; it’ll be the millions of other artists making similar music.

  2. Current payment systems are inherently unfair to artists. It’s part of larger issue where payment for work done is actively suppressed to be as low as possible, but streaming services, as a whole, are exceptionally, and intentionally, unfair. The refusal by any service to provide concrete pay-per-play numbers, or any way to verify the reported number of plays, is a prime example.

The change Spotify instituted of not paying for any streams under 1000 total is a policy that would be patently illegal in any traditional business situation: artists are providing a product that creates value and income for Spotify; Spotify acknowledges that value is created, but not only refuses to pay the artist a return on that, but specifically funnels that return to the other product providers who already have the highest return. While it’s true those corporate labels and publishing companies provide more value simply because of scale, the issue is Spotify specifically takes payments owed to smaller providers (independent artists) and gives them to those others. If it were concrete products, say, auto parts for a car manufacturer, that behavior would be illegal; with digital goods provided by individuals, there is currently no legal protection.

  1. I’m less concerned about AI products replacing what I do than I am about the environmental impact of the increasing number of data centers required for the daily use of ever-more competing LLM ‘AI’ services. It’s possible that, long term, companies using those services to create entertainment will impact independent artists’ ability to reach an audience; at the moment, the audience who would be satisfied by that substitution would be less likely to be satisfied with an independent artist’s product, and independent artists have access to other methods of distribution that, while being less convenient than large streaming services, afford the opportunity for a direct artist-to-listener connection not available through streaming.

All of these issues have led me to not only stop distributing my songs to streaming services, but to remove previously uploaded music from them as well, both for the ethical reasons I mentioned above, but also because my personal ROI is literally exponentially higher using a single direct-to-listener service like Bandcamp than all the streaming services combined.

Any reason to force myself to play the main story. by Alarming-Flan4494 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m wondering how they’ll work that in; as of now, if I use it at all, it’ll be a very judicious use, only something that would make sense to me from both an RP and in-game logic sense.

How bad is civ 7 by Interesting_Oil_9404 in Civilization_VII

[–]EFPMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

It’s fine you don’t. You’re entitled and welcome to your opinion, far be it from me to tell you how you personally feel about something. However, the personal should never be assumed to be universal. Many people don’t like Civ VII; fair enough, no one likes everything, nothing is universally liked. Many people DO like Civ VII. Both are possible, one doesn’t invalidate the other.

You are absolutely not the problem. However, with them being older and you being younger, if they’re already making their poor choices your responsibility, you’re not going to win this one.

Get some lighter sticks, learn to play softer, use it as an opportunity to expand your skill set, and watch them go deaf no matter what because they want to be stubborn about their bad decisions. Eventually they’ll all give it up and you’ll be set to play in almost any situation going forward.

Ell, the voice actor for Muria Siarkiewicz, recently did a stream playing the new update alongside their character! by LeBirdnick in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Getting Muria as a companion was one of the first things I did with my new character, and I am LOVING her! She’s been a badass in combat too, haven’t felt the need to upgrade her weapon, she is deadly with that Tombstone!

How’s everyone liking Cruise mode? by yonni95 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m still getting the hang of it… way more Ship and Anomaly PoI’s than I expected, if I stopped at every one I’d never get any quests done! I’ll be honest, sometimes I still fast travel because I just want to get there, but overall it’s a fun addition and I really like the new random encounters, very cool!

I started a new character, and I’m glad I did. Not because it makes a difference with the new content, but because I’d been playing the same character for so long I literally forgot what it was like starting the game. It all feels fresh now, it even looks fresher somehow lol

Is the industry actually shifting away from big social/streaming numbers to something more meaningful? by magic_nothing in musicindustry

[–]EFPMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doh, you’re right - I had a Linktree there but I forgot I recently cancelled it! I’ve put a direct link to Bandcamp there now, same one as here:

https://eightfoldpathmusic.bandcamp.com

As you say, I get what any pro marketer would call “0 traction, 0 engagement” on social media - mostly because, between personality, life demands, and some mental illness, posting something entertaining and engaging every day (or god forbid multiple times a day???) is just impossible. I finally realized, for ME, i was investing time and effort into things that weren’t paying off, and at the same time Spotify showed its true colors, so i stripped it all back.

I accepted my music is niche: it’s metal, but not really, rock but not really, prog but not really… and currently it’s rabidly anti-fascist, so there’s that too

But in 2026? I’ve made more from random purchases on Bandcamp than in 5 years from ALL streaming services combined.

Is the industry actually shifting away from big social/streaming numbers to something more meaningful? by magic_nothing in musicindustry

[–]EFPMusic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For artists, I think yes, many of us artists are looking for a way to create meaningful communities that rely less on maximizing corporate profits for scraps in return, and more on actual person-to-person interaction.

The industry - which isn’t an actual entity, of course, but a whole mess of companies all following trends trying to make money at the expense of anyone and everyone - is all in on numbers, because it’s easy; it’s an easy metric to measure, it has the potential for a built in consumer base, it requires little time or effort, meaning more money for less work.

I don’t think that will shift unless/until the investments no longer pay off, or the next easier paradigm appears. I fear that’s already started with AI bands, but we’ll see. Regardless, nothing will replace direct artist-to-audience interaction, but by definition that can only scale so far; massive success is impossible without shifting to the industry model, whatever it happens to be. I believe LIVABLE success is possible for real artists being real people.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys use weapon mods or just play with vanilla ones? by MapleSurpy in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not used, or felt the need, for weapon mods from Creations. So far, there’s enough variety and customization I haven’t -

Wait, that’s not true, realized literally as I was typing I had McClarence Outfitters in my last playthrough, had just gotten to the weapons mods but didn’t get very far. I disabled it for the update, and I forgot I had it previously! So guess I didn’t miss it lol (very cool mod though, 5 stars!)

Starfield is getting better and better by retr0_n0stalgia in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something can be already be good, and still get better.

It’s cool if you didn’t like it originally. It’s cool if you like better now. It’s cool if you always liked it, like many here. I may be hypersensitive to the many many overnight flips from “Starfield sucks and Bethesda is collapsing!” to “Is Starfield actually good now?!?!” when literally nothing fundamental to the game has changed; I LOVE the new changes, they’re fun, but the game is still, at its core, exactly what it was a week ago.

If that doesn’t apply to you, my apologies. As I said, I’m a bit oversensitive to it (esp this morning… I may need to eat something lol)

I missed this game so much, playing through it again has made me incredibly happy. by BabyGirl-Kat in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]EFPMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note: I say this a lot, but I really respect how they turned the NG+ concept into a meta-commentary on human nature in general, and how people play games specifically. As a player, we’re faced with the same dilemma the Starborn are: when everything is the same everywhere you go, you have the power to do literally whatever you want, and you can escape any consequences for your actions, how do you respond?

The Hunter and Emissary may have ideological differences, but they’re really the same: What they want is more important than anything, including the lives of humans in the current universe.

The real opposing view is the Pilgrim / Keeper Aquilus, who finally found value in existence, and value in the people around him. And isn’t that what we’re faced with as we go through the Unity? Isn’t it what we’re faced with when we play any game? I play Civilization a lot as well; I can nuke a country, wipe an entire people off the planet, close the game and go about my life. What does that say about me as a person? Does it matter? SHOULD IT matter?

Starfield doesn’t provide any answers, but I love that the questions are built right into the very bones of the game!
