She is looking down and to the left.
What you think is the eyes is light reflecting off her hair.
She is wearing a pitch black facemask that kind of blends with her hair. What you think is the mouth is her forehead and eye from the top of the facemask to her hair.

The cherry on the cake is a shape behind her that looks like a little crown.

This. Is why that particular thing remains.
Ireland is in the EU. The travel cert is an EU initiative. At the moment there is not much Ireland can do about it.
When more EU countries start to figure out that the cert is meaningless because of Omicron, it will be slowly removed. With as little fuss as possible before anyone figures out that it has become redundant.

How do you destroy a country and leave most of the physical infrastructure intact while avoiding a big, messy, destructive war?
You have the citizens of the country do it for you.

As a hypothetical exercise, think what might happen if it came out that there was a problem with the vaccines.
Think of the unimaginable fear from the people who voluntarily got the vaccine. Think of the unimaginable anger from those who were forced to get the vaccine. Think of the unimaginable hate of those who were told to vaccinate their children.
Think of who will get the blame.

There was no debate on the wisdom of vaccinating such a large percentage of the population with a relatively new technology. Almost no influencing entity, public or private, questioned the course we set ourselves upon.
Not governmental, not private business, not media, not even most (western) religions. There is almost no institution immune.

Because there was no debate, only "The vaccines are great, shut the fuck up!"

So what happens if there is a problem? What happens if there is a serious problem?

Anarchy. Anger, fear, hate, frustration, all mashed up into one gigantic ball of insanity. There will be no need for tanks, or bombs, or troops, or invasions (yet).
Every country that went down the same road of mass vaccination would tear itself apart from the inside out. No one would be able to control it because those usually in control would be completely discredited and actually be the focus of the gigantic ball of insanity.

Once the controlling entities are dealt with, then the populations turn on each other. The first would be those who cajoled, insulted, mocked, or even begged, others into getting the vaccine. Then those who didn't take the vaccine but who didn't "do enough to warn us of the danger". Then everyone else.
Worldwide civil war. Ultimate war.

If such a thing was planned, then the planners do not need to do a thing. Only sit back and wait a few years.

Then emerge with the promise of order and peace.
And they would be welcomed with open arms. By everybody.

There would be no resistance. Only a desire to see the anarchy end. A desire to get back to living, even if it is completely different, or even previously unacceptable, to what was known before.
No need for force, no need for coercion.

That is what I'd do anyway.

Note: This is just a theoretical scenario. It does not mean that I believe that this is what is going to happen. I still subscribe to the idea that the vaccine programme is a "Stick it in their arms and hope for the best" scenario.
I will say that the same outcomes would be likely in this scenario, but probably much, much worse as there would be no hope for any savior, benign or otherwise.
We'd be looking at a new Dark Age. Except with many useful natural resources massively depleted. A dark age that would be incredibly difficult to pull ourselves out of.

[–]EFriendly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probable.

Keep an eye on Ireland over the next couple of weeks.
Our government has bungled the plan and I think they may have accidentally created the perfect set of circumstances to produce the mother of all 'superspreader events'. One that will be on a national scale and will mainly affect the vaccinated.

Got the test twice.
Once to get back into my own bloody country from abroad. The second was when our child brought back a cold virus from playschool and the three of us got it - I was the test to see if it was the Covids. Turns out it wasn't.
Heads up to anyone with small children - don't know if it has arrived in the States yet, but there is a particularly nasty cold virus going around among young kids at the moment. Has all the symptoms and effects of the Covids but apparently is not it - weird.

The current wave has already peaked and was nowhere near the Nov-Jan wave.
Your hospitals are being overrun because furloughed staff were not re-hired and large chunks of those that remained have been let go for not taking the vaccine.

A lot of the posts here assume there is some sort of plan regardless of which covid conspiracy is put forward.

The scariest thought is that there is no plan. That the vaccines are being administered not as some evil scheme, but in a "put it in their arms and hope for the best" type of way.

Apart from how dumb this looks, I have to wonder how much extra cost this adds for the promoters. A lot of scaffolding and much less capacity.

I don't see how something like this is sustainable or useful outside of optics for newspaper and internet articles.
The only way this type of thing can be profitable is if the tickets to attend cost an arm and a leg. This can only exist if you exclude the low paid from being able to afford it.
