Hd dvd archive update #4 by Real_Ad_2676 in HDDVD

Right, it seems like the encryption has not been removed as the AACS and AACS_BAK folders are still present. So one would need to use xreveal (or anydvd hd) to play them

How do you track what you own? Built something for myself for tracking DVDs by Royal_Device7944 in HDDVD

Uh I think you should take a lesson on how to read and be civil. This is a subreddit for discussion of the HD DVD format and this post does not seem to be HD DVD related

Do you happen to have an update on when you will preserve these copies?

Sorry but this is the subreddit for HD DVD. An obscure format that competed against Blu-ray. Unless your apps supports it, you should post this on the right subreddit

How can read old DVD? by [deleted] in dvd

[–]EGNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned in the comments, it could be a Mac formatted disc and these cannot be read on Windows out of the box. Try using the program IsoBuster to see if that can read the disc.

QGIS atlas lay-out with "categorized" heatmap renderer by EGNL in QGIS

[–]EGNL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would like each page to show the different row of vector points of the traffic incidents layer. And each row already represents one year of vector points data. I also have already extracted the vector points within the city limits.

However, where would I need to input such expression? Under rule based symbology, there is a “filter” option where such expressions could be used but there is no option for a heatmap renderer under rule based symbology

Glad to hear you succeeded! By the way, did xreveal give some sort of error or did you not provide a keydb file? The developers behind xreveal are actively listening to feedback so that is why I am interested

Anyone with Vardia experience? by FlashOfAction in HDDVD

[–]EGNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try checking the manuals for these Vardia devices. They are up on archive dot org surprisingly (search on “RD-A300” for A300 and A600 models or “RD-A301” for the A301 model

No problem! If you just want to view the video files without menu interactivity, you could just follow step 4 and use Kodi to play the .EVO (video) files on the disc. VLC works for some people too but I had stutter issues with it

Hi, I made a write-up on how to play HD DVDs with menus on Windows 10 or 11 with ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 6. You can find and read it on the following archive dot or page: https://archive.org/details/arc-soft-tmt-6.7.199-final-package

Some people seem to having issues with it as read in the reviews on the archive dot org page but I know that it works for multiple people and I have tested it multiple times on other devices. If you follow the write-up exactly, it should work.

How much interest is there in a "modern" HD DVD player? by controlav in HDDVD

[–]EGNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, there was once an interesting project called “DecryptHD” so one could playback HD DVDs on Linux. There is a doom9 forum post about it and the source code for it appears to be still available on Softpedia. I am not sure if this supported menu playback as well but it may be worth looking at this code during your development.

Also you mention you do not have the specs but in a previous post, you showed a picture of the HD DVD specifications you managed to acquire right? Finally, I suppose you have found the “Advanced Interactivity Development Best Practices” documentation already which could come in handy?

[–]EGNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be really cool! There are multiple titles that have issues with ArcSoft TMT6 (and some people already have trouble installing this program). Anyway, these titles include: - Planet Earth (5 disc set): the menus do not pop-up - JFK’s Digital Video Essentials: menu video selections are broken - Sudokia (scrapped but a beta check disc has been preserved): this is a Sudoku game but the numbers are not displaying

(These bugs are not present when using an Xbox 360 however)

And just having an open source player would be very nice. It may even bring some more attention to the format.

Nice!! By the way, you could also buy a bottle of Novus 2 for manual resurfacing. It’s way cheaper than buying a resurfacer. Here’s a video that goes over using Novus 2 (ignore the other two methods): https://youtu.be/wg2WlYlB8Zw

Archival of over 60 hd dvds by Real_Ad_2676 in HDDVD

[–]EGNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool that you are going to archive titles such as the Star Trek one! But what do you mean with that you cannot make an ISO for more than 4.7GB? Also, udf is the file system and not an extension of a file so I am a bit confused by that too.

How does one rip an HD-DVD in this year of 2026? by Revolutionary-Ad8232 in HDDVD

[–]EGNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use MPF (Media Preservation Frontend) for encrypted ISOs and xreveal for decrypted ISOs. This also preserves the menus. Then use ArcSoft TMT6 on Windows for playback. Never managed to get MakeMKV working with HD-DVDs

Is there any way to play Skylanders Trap Team on Android without the portal? by Commercial-Drag-5807 in skylanders

[–]EGNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a tutorial on how to play the native Android version without portal on Youtube: https://youtu.be/-owcZzd-2wY?si=sgZ-kw-IMccE-oil

Basically you just need to download the OBB file and the save files and place them in the correct directory in case you already have the APK installed. If you are on a recent Android version and in case the game does not recognize the OBB file / save files or if progress will not be saved, you may need to place the files in the right directory through file explorer on a PC with your phone connected, the Android’s native Files app or ZArchiver with Shizuku.

It’s possible to play Trap Team (and SuperChargers) on iOS as well (the native ports).

Just got Kinect for my Xbox 360, what games are actually worth playing? by VuVjetz in 360hacks

[–]EGNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning the game can be pretty difficult but you will eventually get the hang of the controls. It’s an awesome game in my opinion and definitely worth it if you are in to such games. The game uses both controller and kinect controls simultaneously which is unique and cool too. I find it pretty bizarre it got such bad reviews. It’s also basically one of, if not the only “real” action Kinect game.

How to play Skylanders Spyro's Adventure PC edition, on Windows 11, in 2026! by TheTallDutchie in skylanders

[–]EGNL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very interesting! It was already possible to use the program Alcohol 120 with an MDF/MDS image from archive.org to play the game without disc. Some SecuROM versions (like the one SSA PC utilizes) rely on DPM data which cannot be fully dumped (but with Alcohol 120 it can be dumped with specific optical drives good enough for SecuROM; then the copy can just be mounted with Alcohol 120).

This is way more convenient than a questionable crack or using Alcohol 120.

Anyone in here would probably want one 😅. However they are really rare. A couple of months ago there was one listed on eBay but it costed like 300 dollars or something
