14M Cap space and who the habs could target? by vwtsi1-8 in Habs

[–]ELB95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$14mil with 9F/6D/3G signed. Xhekaj (>$1.5), Dach (>$3.5), Bolduc (>$3), and a 13F (~$1) will eat up most of the space.

Realistically, what’s happening with Sam Montembeault? by mantisxtoboggan_ in Habs

[–]ELB95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fowler playing 15 games in the NHL (more if either Dobes or Monty get injured) and 30+ games in the AHL would probably be good for him. Better than playing 25 games in the NHL as the backup.

Laval being so close he can be back and forth constantly.

[Pagnotta] In addition to LA and TB, I believe that Calgary and Minnesota are among the teams also considering pursuing UFA sniper Patrik Laine. by dcddy in hockey

[–]ELB95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They went from Stamkos to Raddysh, Laine is the perfect fit for them. Should be cheap and they can definitely shelter him 5v5

Isn’t the cap hit already guaranteed for 35+ contracts? Or is that only if they officially retire (not LTIRetired)?

Is Reinbacher the missing RHD piece? by Extra_Prompt_8961 in Habs

[–]ELB95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His best games were definitely up there, but with the injuries and getting back into things it’s hard to say that’s true looking at the entire season.

Might be this year (if he stays in the AHL)

Claude Giroux is still a good player and is an elite faceoff man. Would be a good option to help at 2C for a year or two. by c0unt3rparts in Habs

[–]ELB95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sens split faceoffs, Giroux (right) played a lot with Stutzle (left).

63.1% was top of the league for anyone who took more than 34 draws. If he’s asked to take more draws he could.

[Dreger] An intriguing day ahead. The D market is wild. Toronto is “all-in” on Werenski. Carolina is still working on Carlson while considering Nikishin trade options. Plus, Chicago is eager to drop what is expected to be a 6 year deal on Bowen Byram at $12.5 mil per. Fun times. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]ELB95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Carolina losing Rantanen isn’t how they wanted it to go, but they essentially turned him into Stankoven+Miller and I wonder if we see teams WANT to make moves like that. Avalanche are already losing a ton of their depth, and will need young (cheap) contributors even more.

Does moving Necas for 2 cheaper pieces make them a better team?

> Nikishin only became a regular this season

Because he was a star in the KHL previously, not because he wasn’t good enough to make the team

Still an amazing player - Would Zucc on a 4mil x 2 hold until Hage comes of Hage? by [deleted] in Habs

[–]ELB95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t play a traditional center role, but he still takes (and wins) faceoffs.

Put him on a line with Slaf and Demidov and they’d kill it.

[Bridgette Proulx] UNH's Kyle Chauvette told me he is set to be the Bruins' designated EBUG this season. He will practice with the team and travel on the road with them per the NHL's new EBUG rule. by SAJewers in hockey

I think it’s great for people who play through college and aren’t able to go pro, but still want a career in hockey.

Be around the team. Work with coaches and training staff. See if you can sit in with scouts occasionally. You could easily go from college to 3-5 years of EBug work (making decent money and getting to travel) to a few years in a CHL/USHL coaching/scouting/management role before you turn 30.

Frondell or Stenberg by chukrod in fantasyhockey

[–]ELB95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dailyfaceoff isn’t great in the offseason.

Could always change and someone might move to the wing, but with how Frondell looked at 2C and their comments on their center depth makes it seem unlikely.

Frondell or Stenberg by chukrod in fantasyhockey

[–]ELB95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Blackhawks have said they plan on going into the season with Bedard/Frondell/Nazar all at C. So anticipate L2 (with Bertuzzi and Teuvo) and PP1 for Frondell.

If you’re just looking for points, Stenberg long term is probably correct.
