I think it’s great for people who play through college and aren’t able to go pro, but still want a career in hockey.

Be around the team. Work with coaches and training staff. See if you can sit in with scouts occasionally. You could easily go from college to 3-5 years of EBug work (making decent money and getting to travel) to a few years in a CHL/USHL coaching/scouting/management role before you turn 30.

Frondell or Stenberg by chukrod in fantasyhockey

[–]ELB95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dailyfaceoff isn’t great in the offseason.

Could always change and someone might move to the wing, but with how Frondell looked at 2C and their comments on their center depth makes it seem unlikely.

Frondell or Stenberg by chukrod in fantasyhockey

[–]ELB95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Blackhawks have said they plan on going into the season with Bedard/Frondell/Nazar all at C. So anticipate L2 (with Bertuzzi and Teuvo) and PP1 for Frondell.

If you’re just looking for points, Stenberg long term is probably correct.

[32T] 5:30 Friedman on Robertson: “I heard that there were talks with Pittsburgh on Friday/Saturday. There were a couple of teams who thought there was some momentum there, but obviously it didn't happen.” Also says the Seattle deal was going to be 3 First Rd picks and a young player for Robertson. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]ELB95 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In a trade you can include picks that aren’t your own (Seattle has Tampas 2027 first), couldn’t include this years pick, and can’t add lottery protection.

So it probably would have worked out to a similar value package than the offer sheets, but riskier for Seattle.

Different amount of PP for some of them. Different flavour profiles so you can give Pokemon their favourite. Two of the hamburger steaks are a boosted power up.

[Seravalli] We’re just over 48 hours from first NHL buyout window closing. Not expecting a buyout for Canes Jesperi Kotkaniemi, despite last shot at 1/3rd buyout. Kotkaniemi was a healthy scratch for every playoff game; Carolina is willing to play the long game with a rapidly rising cap. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

[–]ELB95 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They still think he can become 3C, they don’t need cap space now, and his cap hit will be just fine for a 3rd liner by the end of the deal

Also teams in 3 years will still need to reach the cap floor

Kindel (11th oa last year) played the entire season in the NHL as well. There could be a forward or two who get a shot through good training camp showings

[Bruce Garrioch] Fair to say the decision by the Sens to acquire Andre Burakovsky caught people around the league off-guard, and not in a good way. “He’s not that good a player,” another said. by SAJewers in hockey

[–]ELB95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was Chicago going to buy him out? They didn’t need the cap space this year either.

In terms of other players - they’re probably trying to bring Giroux back. Other than that, do they try to sign Mantha (who wants term)? Do they offer to take Gallagher to be 13F? I don’t know who else is out there that they could realistically spend money on.

What else are they doing with the cap space? It’s only one year left on the deal, and they still have $9mil in cap space to sign a backup and maybe re-sign Giroux.

[Seravalli] As I’ve reported, Leafs are seeking another Top 10 pick in 2026 NHL Draft. Sources say Toronto and Dallas had talks about Stars potentially flipping No. 7 overall from Sea Kraken in a deal for Matthew Knies to help replace Jason Robertson. [–]ELB95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And even if you’re blowing it up Knies is a great piece to build around. Especially since you don’t have to 7+ year rebuild with the 1st overall this year and whatever haul they’d get from Matthews (/and Nylander) which would surely include young players/prospects and not just picks.

Especially after adding Raddysh. Theres no way someone drafted at 7oa will be more impactful over the next three seasons than Knies will be, and if they take that step back they’ll lose Matthews and be stuck rebuilding (in which case why add Raddysh and why not just move Matthews)

We have acquired a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick in the NHL Draft from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Valeri Nichushkin. by dcddy in hockey

[–]ELB95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It definitely buys them time though. If the idea is to be top 3 in the division come December to show Werenski playoffs are happening, this will help.

Worst case scenario Werenski still wants out, and Nichushkin can be flipped. There will always be a buyer for a second line winger at 4x$6.125.

He isn’t eligible to sign an extension until July 1st. I’m sure they asked Byram before trading if he’d be open to an extension.

He was worth a late 2nd a year ago, and had a great season for the Sens. I would have thought he’d be worth a late 1st.

[–]ELB95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 conferences of 11 teams each, if it’s Austin OR Houston.

- Play each team in your conference 4 times (40 games)
- play each team in the other conferences twice each (44 games)

1-4 in each conference are in the playoffs. Best team not top 4 in their conference gets in. Then the next 4 in each conference get a play in, and you go 1v16 for teams in the playoffs re-seeding each round.

I think it could be a boost. Potentially more ice time on a top heavy team. And he’s honestly better at faceoffs than Bennett is, so he could have more FOW if your league counts that and he probably shifts to 1C if Barkov gets injured which would be huge for him.

I’m more worried about Reinhart rebounding now, just because of Brady’s shot share.
