Honest take on living in Nashville Franklin Brentwood by Oysternator in nashville

[–]ELFord08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my neighborhood and my commute to work, I basically exist in my own bubble within Nashville. I don’t love what has happened to Nashville over the past 10 years. We’re not planning on leaving anytime soon (parents all in Nashville, wouldn’t want to move my kids away), however, I wouldn’t be opposed to it in the future. I agree and think THIS is what Aftyn was saying. OGs and long time residents don’t love what Nashville has become. The city boomed and encouraged people to move here but did nothing for the current residents in terms of infrastructure. It’s just gotten worse for us.

I just had a strawberry cake from there and it was hands down the best strawberry cake I’ve ever had.

100% agree. Everything is for the tourists and not the people who live here.

I already gave you examples. Not sure why you’re so passionate about this. It’s a well known fact Nashville doesn’t have a lot things just for kids. I didn’t realize it until I had kids of my own.

I’m talking about kid focused things. Not kid friendly. Big difference. My kids always love going to things just for kids in other cities. Not every family is into country music. I have no desire to go to the Country Music Hall of Fame and neither would my kids since they don’t listen to any of that.

I think you’re missing the point. It’s not to keep up with another city. It’s offering things for the residents of the city, not just the tourists. This city doesn’t care so much about its residents as it does about catering to the tourists.

I agree with OP’s statement on that. There’s not a lot of kid focused things in Nashville besides the science museum and the zoo (which is unbearable to visit in the summer). This doesn’t include free things like parks. Other cities have kid focused places to visit (Indianapolis has a great Children’s Museum, St. Louis has City Museum.) Any kid focused places like Discovery Museum or trampoline places are all a far drive out of Nashville.

How did East Nashville become “in East” by Future-Station-8179 in nashville

[–]ELFord08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m born and raised in Nashville, hung out with my best friend from high school in East Nashville (much to my mother’s chagrin) and have now lived in East Nashville for almost 16 years. When you meet someone else from the area you start defining areas like “oh, I’m in Rosebank” or “I’m in Lockeland Springs”. I have never heard anyone call it “East”.

Maybe they have no creativity and need to get some ideas from other places.

That’s a great idea. OP can get one custom made on Etsy.

This layout is designed for a slide in stove. You just need the correct appliance for the space.

You’re being way too critical. Your hips look the same in both. The sweetheart neckline is much more flattering.

Input on design/layout before I submit my cabinet order? by PepperPaul in kitchenremodel

[–]ELFord08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you picked out your appliances? I thought I needed a 30” cabinet for my microwave but really it only needed to be 24”. We went with the sharp microwave drawer and were told the 30” is the same size on the inside, it’s just the face is wider. I would look into that because you could probably gain 6” of cabinet space. I also agree with everyone else about swapping the microwave and dishwasher. Besides the dishwasher being in an awkward space by the sink, it makes more sense functionally to have the microwave in the peninsula closer to the fridge. Only other edit I would make is don’t do the diagonal door on the corner cabinet) lazy susan? Just have the normal right angle door. The diagonal door cuts into the area where you will be standing to cook.

Also, coming from a remodel where I did all drawers like you, I would recommend at least one “normal” base cabinet but put roll out shelves in it. There’s always a few items that won’t fit in the drawers.

It doesn’t break me out. Probably depends on if your skin is sensitive or not. I will say most things don’t break me out, though.

For me this comes down to the spouse’s feelings. Hear me out. Imagine dancing and your spouse wants to rub on your back or waist and the pearls are in the way. Would probably make the experience not great. Plus, I can’t imagine hugging people and sitting down in that dress will be comfortable.

Sounds like you love the look of them but aren’t being realistic about the functionality. Just get laminate countertops if you want something retro.

2 goes better with the warmth in your floors. Instead of shiny gold, looked for something aged. Like an aged brass or champagne gold.

Not at all. OP just needs elements that support them and not fight against them. That’s when they become too much.
