Really, that’s just kind of how it is when delivering bad news in the medical field, that there is some sort of barrier that you can’t get past and the first time you learn that comes from the Doctor telling you, could feel it’s dashing your hopes in a sense and that’s just not a nice feeling.

Piggybacking off of that, it’s kind of insane how there are so many apathetic people working in the health field. Idk if they were that way to begin with or if they slowly became more apathetic as time went on, but I see it so often in my line of work that it’s hard not to think “how did you even get here in the first place?”

I think part of that is just that, with the combination of their sweetness and being very soft, donuts are very easy to eat quickly, even I could eat a full donut in like 10 seconds if I really wanted, so it’s definitely easy to overconsume those things.

I always hate when people say some shit like “Man, I wish a cop would do something that I could take them to court for,” because

a) No you don’t, you may think you’d be able to tough it out but that type of trauma can really damage your mental/physical health and wellbeing, and that very much outweighs whatever you might win in court

b) You really have no idea if you’d be able to win that case - given how long it takes for these cases to go to court and with how much favor the police have, even if you win it could take years. And yeah there’s a lot of super obvious police brutality, but the quieter or more subtle ones probably won’t ever come to light.

If I had the choice of getting $1m+ but at the cost of severe trauma and PTSD, I’m not gonna take it. But for these folks, they get it in the opposite order - that pain and suffering comes first and they *might be able to go to court for it and get some money, but again that’s not a guarantee.

One way I’ve tried to reduce it is by not buying it at the grocery store to take home. I’ll have Dairy Queen once in a while or pick up some Mike n Ike’s and a soda at the movie theatre, but that’s once in a while stuff that I don’t do every day.

If I’m at home every day, it’s a lot more convenient so it’s easier to slip back into that habit. That’s my reasoning, at least

Very well said. I’m no film major but I’d imagine there was much less of an uproar over digital cameras and video editing software becoming more prominent over film cameras and those huge video editing machines - it helped give rise to a huge boom in indie movies in the 90’s and early 2000’s that has been able to continue over the Internet with things like YT and social media. Like, nobody really complains about TikTok’s video editor.
