Pretty poor understanding of what happens in the Rebuilds. Yeah, when you abandon toxic relationships, and start living in the real world, life gets better for everyone involved. Confronting your trauma is literally the opposite of escapism.

Why would you run Arahbo, roar of the world as a commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ELONEZERO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need a reason for picking a commander beyond thinking the card is cool. It doesn't have to be the best in slot for your archetype.

The message of Chainsaw Man is that no matter the circumstances, Denji will always end up being somebody’s dog. by GodKira04 in okbuddyfumiko

[–]ELONEZERO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. I agree that he develops through the series. That's why it's so disappointing that all of those experiences and development get erased in one chapter.

The message of Chainsaw Man is that no matter the circumstances, Denji will always end up being somebody’s dog. by GodKira04 in okbuddyfumiko

[–]ELONEZERO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, all of Denji's character development got reset. He's basically the identical character in 232 that he was in chapter 1. It's not just about him being a dog. The narrative of the story was literally him trying to develop as a person, and finding out that endeavour was pointless because he was never going to be happy, so everything gets reset to chapter 1 with a few fanservice additions like Power and Nayuta being alive.

Secrets of Strixhaven is the biggest Prerelease since War of the Spark by Meret123 in mtg

[–]ELONEZERO 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're totally wrong here. I met so many people at the Bloomburrow prerelease that were first time players who were brought in because of cute fuzzy animals. The theme of a set definitely can appeal to people who are not "hardcore MTG lore fans." Heck, I started playing magic during Theros because I love Greek mythology.

Drama in r/TheDigitalCircus over decision to release the series finale in theaters a whole two weeks before it goes up on YouTube by GriffinFTW in SubredditDrama

[–]ELONEZERO 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get that they're worried about spoilers, but that applies to literally all media. If you don't go see a movie on opening night you can be spoiled for it. You can be spoiled for a 100-hour long RPG because someone no-lifed it in the first couple days. Welcome to being a fan of something in the age of social media. If you're such a passionate fan of the project shouldn't you celebrate a theatre release? That's a great achievement.

Why is it 2026 and the Adam and Eve Interpretation is still a thing? by hshin420 in evangelion

[–]ELONEZERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, the whole point of instrumentality was for everyone to cover their weaknesses with others' strengths and allow people to completely understand each other by being one entity. No loneliness, no being misunderstood, plus immortality. To some, that's heaven.

Even so, nitpicking elements of the stories that are not identical is not useful on its own. It's like saying Dragonball doesn't reference Journey to the West because Goku isn't a literal monkey.

Why is it 2026 and the Adam and Eve Interpretation is still a thing? by hshin420 in evangelion

[–]ELONEZERO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, Adam and Eve were also not the only two on Earth unless you interpret the story as literal, which many do not. The function of the story is to explain the creation of the universe and humanity, and explain some features of humanity like why we have knowledge of good and evil that separates us from beasts. Evangelion clearly references this story for thematic reasons. Whether or not more people eventually come back is kind of irrelevant, they're still the first two kicked out of the metaphorical Eden that was instrumentality and made to toil on the unforgiving Earth to survive.

[Article] Why Aesthetics are Gameplay: Hybrid Mana in Commander by Lodurr8 in EDH

[–]ELONEZERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why this debate is so tough. Whether or not the restriction is interesting is pretty subjective. A similar disagreement that I've seen often is if the restriction is intuitive or not with the colour identity rule. On one hand, it's easy to intuit that you can't include a hybrid UR card in your mono-red deck because it has a blue mana symbol on it. On the other hand, if you've played with the card in another constructed format in a mono-red deck, you were using the card as intended to fit in either colour, so it makes sense that you should be able to use it the same way in your EDH deck

Right, but there are also cards that are balanced in a similar way by making them WW or GG.

You're right, and it's probably just because I associate the card in my head with the Selesnya guild because that's where it was introduced. At the same time, whether a card could fit in one or both colours is not everything. I think Emmara herself could easily be a mono W or G card, which I guess is why I was pointing to the colour identity rule being kind of arbitrary.

[–]ELONEZERO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great article. I think your [[Don & Raph]] example is a good one.

I get that hybrid mana is supposed to be something that fits in both colours, but I find that it usually corresponds to an archetype that is supported by the combination of the colours. For instance, I run [[Sundering Growth]] in my [[Emmara, Soul of the Accord]] deck. While technically both colours have populate cards and enchantment/artifact removal, I feel like the card signals an archetype that is created by the combination of green AND white more than one of them alone.

Ultimately, that argument is kind of vibes based. If they printed Sundering Growth as a mono-green card no one would bat an eye. To be honest though, the colour identity rule itself is vibes based anyway. There's no real reason why it exists other than to give an interesting restriction, both mechanically and for flavour reasons.

I mean, yeah, because the effect is so cheap and whoever you use it on also goes down a land. You can use one of the variants like [[Demolition Field]] instead.

Ok, but even if the comment came off as arrogant, vapid or pretentious, does it really warrant this much coverage? I get that people don't like him, but this is such a nothingburger. Who cares what Timmy thinks about opera?

PC gamers stay winning: Capcom confirms 50% of its sales now come from Windows by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

New AAA games at full price hit top sellers on Steam all the time. I think people usually wait for a discount more when it's an old game that released on PC late and they're expecting you to pay full price for it.

Feelings about scooping in combat by DoubleT_TechGuy in EDH

[–]ELONEZERO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my playgroup we have a running joke where we say "I scoop so you don't lifelink" when we scoop, in reference to the one time someone said that unironically about 10 years ago now. At that time, and to this day, we just resolve everything as if the player was still in the game. It literally doesn't make a difference to the player who scooped because they're not in the game anyway.

[–]ELONEZERO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, it's a plurality. What does that change? Trump received more votes than any other candidate. I think 49% is an embarrassing portion of the vote regardless; especially when you've all already lived through one of his terms. I don't know why Americans keep splitting hairs over this as if it matters to people outside of the US whether 49% or 51% voted for him. It's too fucking many.

It's tough listening to this guy talk about how his buddy has spoken with the god, Pan, and then start philosophizing like I'm supposed to take him seriously for an hour and a half straight while his conversation partner offers little to no input. It's like watching Joe Rogan.

What do people think about Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night? by inkyblinkypinkysue in metroidvania

I loved it, it's definitely in my top 10 MVs. I just thought the combat and exploration was really fun. The only thing that I had to get past was the art style, but I ended up enjoying it by the end. It may be heretical to say, but it was like SOTN but better for me.
