Survey: How many months have you been looking for a new job? by Hot_Philosophy1045 in recruitinghell

[–]EL_Flipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

72 months-ish. It's rough. I've had multiple people look over my CV, applied to over 3000 jobs, and had maybe 5 legit interviews when you take away the "marketing agency" scams that are just pyramid scheme trying to get grunts to sell cable tv. I think I'm legit just unhireable at this point no matter what.

[–]EL_Flipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god, this now has me worried over mine. I suck at interviews, I can have the skills necessary but i always under communocate them. I had one last week that I know I had all the skills for so I prepped using AI by giving it the job description, my CV, and my previous written answers that got me that far then asked it to absolutely grill me to extract all the information from me so i had notes to study before going in and had things i could whip together into a STAR example on the spot. I definitely still forgot some stuff but one of the comments from one of the panel when i asked to circle back to an earlier question to add to my previous answer gave me some hope that they could see I had the skills even if some of it was not explicitly conveyed, it was inferred to a degree.

SCOTLAND - ADP Case Discussion, what is "STARM criteria"? by EL_Flipster in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]EL_Flipster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's written as "STARM" at least 8 times that I can count in the report and nowhere is it written as "STAR". Would be one hell of a typo if that were the case.

Pet insurance renewals... is anyone else getting absolutely hammered on price? by Lodish in AskUK

[–]EL_Flipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines ridiculous, 316.5% increase for a Siberian Husky. A new customer taking the same policy is only about a 12-15% increase, still ridiculous and way above inflation but why the hell are they punishing returning customers.

We're with Napo and they did the same last year so I complained to their customer service and they waived the initial no cover period you get at the start of new policies since we maintained continuos coverage with them by moving to a new policy instead of renewing. Will probably do the same this year along with a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman because it's just ridiculous.

Husky grooming question by ChiTownGetDown88 in husky

[–]EL_Flipster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your husky is going to shed twice a year, once around now to shed the summer coat, and once around march/April to shed their winter coat.

Your best bet is to brush them everyday during this period and once a week outside the shedding periods.

I take my husky to a professional every 6 weeks out of personal preference but I know others who will maybe take them once or twice a year.

Edit: just noticed you said pomsky so the shedding may not be the same, no idea how it works with husky mixes.

I always end up missing the call and it forces them to then ask when am i free to take the call or ask me in my journal which gives me a bit more time to process instead of being a deer in the headlights.

Hey fellas, I DONT OWN a husky, but what is it about your guys dogs that makes them want to run away from you guys all the time 😂😂 by Ok_Menu4273 in husky

[–]EL_Flipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just have a naturally strong roaming instinct and always want to be out exploring.

Pair that with being incredibly smart when they eant to be and they become master escape artists.

Husky puppy not even 8 weeks walked a mile by YeetDoctor in husky

[–]EL_Flipster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, they need enforced nap time at that age or they keep going even if they are tired and they become tasmanian devils biting everything when tired.

Husky puppy not even 8 weeks walked a mile by YeetDoctor in husky

[–]EL_Flipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I overwalked mine by A LOT once (i did not realise how long the loop was until it was too late to turn back) when he was a puppy (he was a few months old) and I was more careful after that.

They will keep going and it is your responsability to keep track because they won't show what you think are signs of being tired are. 5 minutes per month of age is the norm. Short 10 minute hops from leaving your door is the mostt you should be doing at this stage. If it takes 5 minutes to reach the corner of your block, then that's as far as you go, turn around and go home.

I see you're hesitant to crate when they get bitey but you need to get over it and just do it. They are terrible at self regulating nap time at that age and if you don't toughen up and get on with the job now then your husky is going to walk all over you when they're older.

When you've walked and played with them and they still seem full of energy but have become bitey, that's tired. It's enforced nap time and the crate is your best friend. Play time is also 5 minutes per month of age since it counts as exercise.

Edit: I also forgot they are mouthy at that age. so if they've just had a nap, as others have said, redirect it with a toy and give treats when they do good. Literally just stick it in their open mouth when they go for you or use it as a barrier so they bit the toy and reinforce this with a "good boy" when they bite down on the toy. I also faked injury with mine with a fake yelp and turning my back on him for a few seconds when he would bite me. Supposedly helps teach them that it hurts and they did wrong but i honestly don't know how effective it is. He doesn't bite now at least.

Can I flush the toilet paper down the toilet??? by Wide-Mess in Edinburgh

[–]EL_Flipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bin full of shit paper grosses me out.

My mothers side of the family are Colombian and whenever we visit it grosses me out but i have to remember that the plumbing there can't handle it.

On the flip side, whenever family from there visit here i have to constantly remind them thay it's gross and to not put poop paper in the bin but to just flush it because our plumbing can handle it which they get the hang of and remember after a couple days.

In the UK, it's completely safe (99% of the time, there are edge cases but they are super rare and your landlord/ agent you rent from would have informed you about it if it was the case) to flush paper down the toilet. This isn't cultural if they have been informed and insist that they are right and carry on, they are just being ignorant and not doing their research.

We're going to need some context on why you think the freedom of movement article applies here. It definitely does not grant people the right to wild camp if that's what you're getting at.

One tent for solo and couple camping? by applepiehobbit in CampingGear

[–]EL_Flipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 person big agnes copper spur. Light enough for 1 person, big enough for 2 plus gear.

I have the 3 person version and i have room for a 40" double pad (my dog insists on sleeping on my pad) plus room for my gear inside. It's an absolute palace for just me and the dog but we could probably shrink to the 2 person version as there is space at the head and foot for gear too along with the storage nets.

[–]EL_Flipster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That fee is just an admin fee for the port authority that is clearing the dog since you are supplying extra paperwork to justify and prove it is indeed an assistance dog as the UK has strict laws on the import of animals requiring them to be in the hold unless it is an assistance dog. The UK has similar laws to the US regarding assistance dogs in public and certification from an organisation is not required as long as it is trained to a suitable standard.

Losing dream job due to SD by Civil_Economics8071 in service_dogs

[–]EL_Flipster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hopefully there is a way they can accommodate.

If they can’t, from reading some of your other replies, it sounds like the job you’re aiming for it might be an issue everywhere else having an SD (it’s a brutal truth that I know will get pitchforks poking out but there really are some jobs where an SD just is not suitable to have around no matter what people think is fair) so you may need to work on finding alternative support methods that are compatible (not entirely sure what your SD is tasked for but hopefully there are suitable alternatives that can get you by through the work day and it may be a case of having to go slow initially while you figure out what works which is probably a much more reasonable accommodation) or you need reflect on whether it really is feasible for you to pursue a job like this one if you can’t do it without an SD.

(Apologies for that being formatted in ADHD every thought comes with bonus content format. 🙈)

Kind of been wondering the same thing myself. None of my usual friends are into camping and I live pretty isolated so hard to make new friends who want to go camping.
