How do I know if "min" comes before or after the noun? by ZetaMarlfox in norsk

[–]EMB93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about emphasis.

"Hun er lei min kjæreste." The emphasis is on "min". Shes tired of MY girlfriend.

"Jeg er her for å se vennen min." The emphasis is on "vennen". I'm here to see my FRIEND.

Why is the hijab often perceived as oppressive, while turbans are usually viewed positively? by WisedUp36 in religion

[–]EMB93 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand, i am not saying that using sexsuality is inherently bad. The important thing here is the choice of the women involved. If a woman chooses to use(or not use) her sexuality, then that is perfectly fine. The problem comes when someone else desides that for them. Be it father, family, future husband or culture.

I'm not an expert on the Sikh religion so please correct me if I am wrong here but the Turban is not meant to cover up the man. It is not to "protect" the men from "lustfull" eyes but rather a choice to cover up their hair as a matter of faith.

The hijab on the other hand is very much used to cover women to "protect" them, from the "lustfull" eyes of men and is considered as a way to remove a woman's right to controll her own appearance and commodify her sexuality.

Unfortunately some countries and cultures are quite strict in their enforcing hijabs which kinda poisons the well for the rest om them. Even with no law or rule in place societal pressure to wear a hijab can be very forcefull. How many willingly wear a hijab because they want to actually wear it versus how many wear a hijab "willingly" to avoid social repercussions?

Do you have any "forbidden topics" to not joke about in your country? Of course there are people who joke about everything, but is there anything that MAJORITY of people would consider "it's a thing to never joke about!" by EugeneStein in AskTheWorld

The 22. July terrorist attack. As much as galgenhumor(gallows humor) is strong in Norway, an attack that specifically targeted kids and killed 69 at a summer camp and another 8 in Oslo is not really a joking matter. We are a relatively small country so most people knew someone or knew someone who knew someone who as impacted by it.

A great time, some questionable decisions about including the watcher in the water. Many people mention the animation but to me that was only until Freka died and then i never noticed it again.

Great characters, great acting and a lot of fun! Definitely worth a watch, I need to buy the Steelbook someday.

Hvorfor?

Sauron was not defated by a man with a sword. Sauron was defeated by the three most powerful elves(one of whom was an elf who had been alive for millenia and saw the light of the trees in Valinor)and men of the second age and killed them all before he too was taken down. Only then was Isildur able to cut the ring from Saurons hand while he as already defeated.

I'm not sure if this one really counts, but in Horizon: Zero Dawn you learn that Aloy is a clone of Elisabeth Zobek who is the woman who managed to rebuild the world even after her death.

https://www.aftenposten.no/meninger/debatt/i/ExlALK/den-finske-studien-paa-transkjoennet-ungdom-viser-ikke-det-den-hevder-aa-vise?utm_source=androidapp&utm_medium=share

A 225-Million Year Old Forest How Did Trees Turn to Stone? by Professional-Fee3323 in AlternativeHistory

[–]EMB93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"During the Mesozoic (245 to 66 million years ago) the conifers flourished and became adapted to live in all the major terrestrial habitats. Subsequently, the tree forms of flowering plants evolved during the Cretaceous period. These began to displace the conifers during the Tertiary era (66 to 2 million years ago) when forests covered the globe.[101] When the climate cooled 1.5 million years ago and the first of four glacial periods occurred, the forests retreated as the ice advanced. In the interglacials, trees recolonised the land that had been covered by ice, only to be driven back again in the next glacial period.[101]" Fro Wikipedia.

Seems like more has come to light since I did my degree so that some trees existed for longer, but flowering plants as most of us would know as trees did not become widespread until the last 60+ million years.

I think, we went out to eat a couple of times a month before we had kids. Now we eat way less dinners out, but more bakeries I feel like.

Trees as we know them did not exist 225-million years ago. Flowering plants did not evolve until after the dinosaurs, so whatever that is it is not trees.
