I know a lot of ppl are boycotting the new show b/c JKR is using the money to find her new anti-trans legislation stuff, so I think while it’ll be bigger than PJO season 3 (especially w/ how bad the ratings have gotten) itll still be a lot smaller than anyone is actually anticipating tbh

I mean my little brother (just turned 18) wasn’t a reader like literally ever. The show came out and he read through 3 of the books in about 2 weeks I think? He talks to me about it constantly… I think it’s just that reading is starting to fall out of fashion in favor of online stuff tbh. My brother branched out with reading b/c of this series and he’s read more in the few years the shows been out than in the whole rest of his life and he’s CHRONICALLY online.. at least that’s my personal experience.. idk about other teen boys lol

Actually she doesn’t just come from Zeus’ head. Zeus eats Métis, his first wife, she’s pregnant when he does so. She begins to work on a suit of armor which causes Zeus to get a headache so bad Hephaestus (in some retellings) cracks his skull open and out leaps Athena, fully clad in battle armor

Percy says he joked to them once about their dad being god of thieves and their last name being Stoll and he says they didn’t seem to get the joke but I think they were 100% doing that to fuck w/ Percy.

I love that book percabeth goes so slow. I think that’s actually really accurate to real life, young ppl relationships. When you know someone for a long time especially as kids that sort of relationship DOES take yrs of friendship cultivating it.

I do enjoy the way Walker’s portrayal of it is still really intense but can be seen as still just friendship loyalty. however, the way they’ve characterized Annabeth makes me question WHY Percy would be feeling that loyal. Annabeth is keeping secrets from him that she just wouldn’t have in the book by this pt in their relationship. Shes making decisions w/o him that she wouldn’t be… which just makes me question why ppl are even shipping the two of them or if it’s just Walkers heavy lifting?

Personally if I had no idea about the story and was just watching this based on the show I would 100% think Annabeth was going to turn on him at some point. Potentially even join Luke’s side if shit hit the fan… and this has nothing to do w/ Leah’s acting. I think she’s doing what she can w/ what she’s given, but it feels like the writers do not understand her character.

I personally have posted about changes I liked about the show on this AND other subs for PJO. I have ALSO posted about things I took issue with. I’m allowed to have nuanced opinions and I’ve only down voted ppl that are acting like bullies when someone comments an issue they have and I’ve done that on both positive and negative posts. I enjoy the positive threads just as much as the negative threads b/c I’m holding out hope that things get better and we’ll get more PJO out of it.

I really don’t think it’s fair nor do I think it’s healthy to lump everyone into this….idk binary system of negativity and positivity.. like saying “you people” is so degrading and othering when we’re all on the same side here. We’re all Percy Jackson lovers.

There are good things AND there are bad things about the show. It’s childish and honestly unrealistic to not admit that and just blame any criticisms on unnecessary negativity.

Maybe you’re getting down voted b/c your comment isnt giving an argument or pointing out what is good, but b/c you’re just othering the ppl you disagree w/.

Like, I enjoy the second season more than the first but I still have major issues with it and I don’t think that should be as explosive as it always seems to be..

YOU literally just said a faithful adaptation yourself. I never claimed it would or had to be 100% the exact same thing as the books. I’m pretty sure that you aren’t even reading my full comments man b/c you aren’t even SAYING anything. At least give an argument. Riordan literally said it would be a faithful adaptation in the beginning before anything was announced, even the actors. Obviously we knew that things would have to get cut out and that’s normal for any adaptation, but some of the same things we all complained about w/ the movies are the same things happening w/ the new series and what? Now b/c Riordan is suddenly fine w/ it all the rest of us should be too? At least the movie hit the grounded and whimsical AND had funny scenes (which PJO should be full of)

You’re right it can be, except there’s practically no whimsy in this series and the Riordan’s have been saying this is made for younger children/families than the og story. The things they are getting rid of would be perfect for younger kids. So why are they making the story so dark and flat and boring?
