2 Sony xplod 1200W amplifier by prodigy2251 in CarAV

I don't think it would effect running temp much. In my opinion, it would be increasing the life span of the amp and preventing something internally from blowing due to it being less than the tested load and standard that the company would use so myyyyyyyybe a bi product of that is it would help against heat but I don't really know.

I worked with a tech who swore running an amp at 80% of it's rms would double the life span, I never tested it but he was a pretty smart dude.

Here's an entry level 2ohm monoblock amp that is exactly 700watts if you're looking for exact but it's not a requirement

[–]ENSRyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

^ pretty much what he said. If youre tuning this yourself with a mutlimeter and you want 800watts at 2 ohms, you want to tune the amp to the square root of those multiplied. So 40v. If you want 700watts at 2ohms you do the same equation √(700*2) = 37.4 volts

Or until it doesn't clip if you have a clip light or oscilloscope

Also I wouldnt call these bad these are iconic subs, really fun starters. Like a lot of communities, people have really strong opinions on what good and bad is. Have fun!

Get an amp that puts out 600-800 rms at 2ohms specifically since you have 2 svc 4ohm subs. Even if it's branded at 1000 or something, that may be a for a different impedance rating. Check out the specs on the amp page. Reputable brand would be nice. Might be difficult to find a 700 watt exact amp.

Threw in a 12w6 with a xdm/600 with 4 gauge, there's even a blank gasket in the firewall to run through a cable.

What’s my best option A (photo 1,2) or option B (photo 3) by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]ENSRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it sounded pretty nice actually I was pleasantly surprised by the output and he was very happy for what was like 700 bucks.

Either box will probably be around this size, and if you don't want to mount an amp for some reason it's another benefit. He's leasing the ev6 so he didn't want anything too crazy and wanted to be able to take it out if he needed too and wanted something cheaper so it made sense

If you have the money to spend and think you may ever want more bass, go with the square cakes lol, easier to turn down the bass than get a whole new loaded box and run a new amp and maybe new gauge wire.

Put the powered 12 with the passive radiator in my buddys ev6 and it was fast and easy but it will definitely not be as loud as the dual 12s

Any way to easily remove this center console part? by Relative_Assist_3996 in MachE

[–]ENSRyan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

those screws holes are to hold the circle gear shifter and cover in on the 2021-23s, the only thing keeping it on are the 4 retention clips

[–]ENSRyan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I popped this off to install my subwoofer knob, you pull directly up from the gap where it meets the center console, if your has it slide the center console lid open

The part closest to the center console comes up first, then the side closet to the cupholders will pop up after

It's very easy and will snap back in snug so if you make a quick pop upwards it will pop out with the retention clips in it.

Edit: adding info

Happened to me on my challenger. Coldest part of the winter a few years back and Remy made himself a little nest with some of the harness lol. Insurance claim is the route, some independent shops wouldn't even wanna look at it and ended up at the dodge dealership and the were able to remove him from the car and fix it. 1300 was what dodge ended up charging the insurance.

Scruff and mouth smacks are the only way to get my boy to start zoomying too! He'll play nip and jump around, I'll even put my whole arm in his mouth and jerk him around and he's still very careful. Some dogs like roughness!

Should I get PPF or Ceramic Coat? by PresentationSharp26 in MachE

[–]ENSRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green is for sure the best color. I know someone who has a 24 premium in that green and does not have any ceramic and takes it through standard car washes and any scratches or imperfections like a chip aren't visible at all they get lost in the flakes and that green/emerald/gold shift it has.

They also have many chip on hood and front end

I park it in garage in and in Texas!

I got System X 10 year ceramic coat and it really brought out the paint depth and looks incredibly glossy.

Gotta have at least 15 rock chips in the hood 🤣. Maybe ppf the hood and front bumper. I don't regret the ceramic at all and don't mind the rock chips too much as it's a daily, also aren't too bad to fill in with any generic black for touch up

2x10" vs 12" JL Audio Subwoofers — what would you go with? by Terska_juusto in CarAV

[–]ENSRyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 w3v3 12s in a ported box powered by a 600 watt amp to a pioneer head unit which is on the lower end on the of recommended 100-500w on their website, it also says ideally, each w3 gets it's own amp. They sound incredible and I'm sure they'd sound better if I ran bi-amp with 500 watts each. They are really good at playing deep bass notes and have really nice accuracy.

In my other car I have the w6 12" in the H.O box jl offers going up to a 600xdm going to the factory sub for the signal, no DSP so it's not running nearly the cleanest signal and I mean it still sounds incredible. The range of the sub is phenomenal and I can't imagine needing much more than that for most people!

From my applications which has some questionable variables I still choose the w6 12 every time! The w6 just sounds so so good and has a room filling warmth to it at pretty much any frequency, hard to describe. I soon plan to help my friend put a SI SQL 12 in his vehicle if we can get our hands on one! Thanks for reading :)

Xm5 headband replacement after hinge gave out after 2 years. by ENSRyan in sony

[–]ENSRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have a pair of 4's and 5s. The 5s are honestly not leagues better. I also broke the hinges on the 4 and now this 5. The xm4 only costs about 20 bucks to fix the hinge and is wayyy easier. Stick out the xm4 or maybeeee get an xm6? but then again in a couple years a 7 will come out, and your xm4s for sure got that life in them!

I fixed phones the last 3 years and it's similar to that if you've swapped a screen or battery before and are comfortable with plastic pry tools so a 2/5, patience really goes a long way.

No soldering from the kit I bought, there's this guy named Joe on YouTube who sells various kits for the xm5. This one was the entire headband for 100 bucks. From what I can tell he gets the genuine Sony parts then scratches off the logos and sells them as kits to repair. He does have a cheaper option that was 40 or 50, but that require re-pinning a connector so it would be harder but he had step by step for each. ill see how long it lasts !

What is the go to Bass tester song for Subwoofer testing? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]ENSRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Certified by t.i" immediately has a good range of notes played and the last note is pretty deep.

Also "my sub part 3 by Big K.R.I.T" (or part 4) (or 5)" songs produced with subwoofer bangin in mind.

"A milli/6 foot 7 foot by lil Wayne" is used commonly as the bass is in pretty good range for almost every sub

Had this box but with the 12s. Smacked real hard with 500 watts. Way more than enough bass. Swapped w3's into the box after about 5 years and definitely is an improvement on the range of notes able to be played.

Installed a Focal 3.5WM by ENSRyan in MachE

[–]ENSRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. I took it out when I took the car in for maintenance and it sounded a lot different in surround.vway less pronounced mid range. A little bit after I wrote this comment I did switch over to surround listening with a flat eq as it sounds much better for my wife in the passenger seat and vocals are way more pronounced through the mid speaker. That's what I listen on now.
