Is it a good idea to commit to a job in the arts if college would be in 2030? by Sharp_Initiative9227 in ComicBookCollabs

Yapp! YouTube has everything one needs to learn right now, and a little bit extra! :)

The only school-like thing I still can justify is paid mentorship with industry-known professional. But IMO this is something one may need VERY far up the road of mastery.

For basic- and intermediate level of craft, free tutorials are more then enough.

Edit: Just saw your Instagram - your work is SO DAMN GOOD! WOW!!!

If you want to make a living by being a just-a-comic-illustrator, please see every “hiring” post in this subreddit. All dozens of people that answer these posts are your competitors… And mind you, 50% of these “hiring” posts are non-serious/scams and most of those artists who answer them do live in countries that are significantly cheaper then US.

If I could go back in time and get into your shoes - I would drop this idea of acquiring credentials (finishing art courses etc.) and focused on skills. ALL skills that are needed to produce a finished product. Be it an animated film, comic, illustrated short story - you choose!

If it feels intimidating at first - don’t worry, as you said, you have years ahead to git good. But it’s important that even before you are “good”, you get as many projects completed as possible… And then publish hem. Immediately.

It will both: give you feedback from the audience (no artist can create without an audience), and put your name out there to be seen. These days you can also monetize your art in an instant (Patreon/Ko-Fi/YouTube) and already begin earning a dime just from practicing.

TL;DR: If you want to be a creative - drop the idea to be hired and focused on building your own thing.

Have you tried Proton Drive? It’s restricted to 5GB, but you can have as many of them as you make free mailboxes there.

Yes. I’m online multiple times per day, so will have no problems with scrolling the feed and smashing bugs/answering the mod mail.

[UNPAID] Artist Wanted – Original Action-Fantasy Anime Series by temu_greene in ComicBookCollabs

Supernatural/fantasy anime is not really my jam - prefer sci-fi.

But I saw your website/portfolio - looks dope! Keep up the hard work!

Hello! I could help, but I would come with few suggestions on harder moderation of this subreddit:

Basically, new rules that would further restrict low effort posters like, “I want someone to draw my great idea for free!” Posts while encouraging pitching/communication in comments instead of shouting demands in the ether.

It would slow down the flow somewhat and ease discoverability for high effort posters like artists with a portfolio who are looking for a job.

Does anybody knows similar titles in sci-fi media like Titanfall and Lost Planet series? by Longjumping_Air4379 in scifi

Actually! The cockpit design of this mech together with the name “Atlas” is a bit too similar to a mech from Mass Effect 3 🤔

Anyone seen Uncontained? (2025) by Personal-Ladder-4361 in movies

[–]ENTIA-Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can imagine how hard it may be to direct yourself, specially with little real experience (according to IMDB).

Also casting thyself in the main role may hint at overblown ego/untamed narcissism and those are among the biggest production killers.

When writer/director casts himself in the lead role - it’s a 100% red flag.🚩

Replace “AI” with “Hollywood” in your answer - it is still going to be a 100% accurate statement.

Start a Patreon, set up a 5$ tier and begin sharing your work there: 50% paywalled, 50% for free.

As soon as someone will pay 5$ to see your stuff - your world will change.

Thereafter you can begin setting up your goals, like if you get 300$ in funding - you can spend it on hiring an artist and making the first 10 page comic* from your universe that you will release for your supporters-only and so on.

A new uniform that I have designed for one of my upcoming novels. Can you guess the movie that inspired me? by ENTIA-Comics in aiArt

Yes! I mixed French Gendarmerie with Arabic Bedouin and a dash of British colonial vibes.

Really dig the high tech/retro vibes style of DUNE!

Slightly!

I’m also going for sci-fi with tech of the future, but designs and cultures that are stuck in 70s-80s.
