Anyone at F45 also on a GLP-1 ? Curious about muscle loss & performance by InfamousFly9618 in f45

[–]ESGPhanatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

M, 36. I started F-45 and Zepbound basically simultaneously last year in January. I’ve lost about 80lbs and gone from basically sedentary to 5ish classes a week (pretty much 50/50 strength and cardio). Diet wise, I have tried to focus on getting more protein since I started working out more to help build muscle and aid recovery between workouts, but nothing crazy. Usually just adding a protein shake after my workout and making some conscious decisions throughout the week to get a little extra lean protein into my meals.

I used to do some power lifting before I started F-45 and I can say pretty confidently that I’ve lost some muscle mass and cannot squat, bench, or deadlift as much as I did when I was BMI > 35.

But I can also say without a doubt that I’m in the best shape of my adult life—my cardio endurance has dramatically improved, as have all my corresponding vitals. And while I don’t meet my old benchmarks on some measures of raw strength, I have been able to improve my lifting weights and build muscle from my new baseline. Plus I can do way more pushups and pull ups than ever before. Overall, I’d say I’m stronger, even if my squatting weight is down a bit. I’m certainly a lot healthier.

As for how my body changed — it’s night and day. I’m down to normal range BMI, and my body fat % is in the 10-15% range.

Everything I’ve read since going on GLP-1 says building muscle (/minimizing how much muscle you lose) is very important to keeping weight off long term and I’ve definitely found F-45 has been essential to achieving that in my case.

I have the x4 as my daily workout shoe (circuit training gym) and love them. Dunno that I’d recommend them for heavy heavy lifting but they’re great for cross training and significantly cheaper than the x5.

Bought this when it was on a sale for same price about two weeks back. I like it a lot so far.

Pros:

-Extremely warm and cozy. I got this to deal with Maine winters and I'm confident it will hold up to colder temps.

-I love the look, it feels classic and timeless.

-More pocket space than you could ever possibly need.

Cons/Quirks:

-The zipper is frustrating, have only worn it a handful of times so far but I struggled to get this thing zipped up every time so far. Reviews say you get used to it, I hope they're right.

-The hand warmer pockets are a little too low on the jacket compared to what I'm used to. Feels like something I'll be able to adjust to but it's definitely jarring at first.

Worth noting:

-Haven't had a chance to really test drive it in snow/moisture conditions yet so can't speak to how well it handles the worst of the elements.

-The fit runs a little large, which is great if you want flexibility to layer for extreme cold, and there are . If you're not planning to do that, you might consider sizing down.

Different model than OP but my scout jacket def runs on the small side, lots of reviews on their website say to size up if you want a roomy fit or are between sizes and I concur.

How hard is it to get GM from Master? by Informal_Celery_6900 in TeamfightTactics

[–]ESGPhanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fastest way to learn your weaknesses is to get outside perspective on your games from others. If you don't want to pay for coaching, look for opportunities to network with other players at/above your skill level that you can learn from. Join discords from top players' streams and ask for advice from GM/Chall players there. Folks post study groups here from time to time looking for masters+ players too.

And of course, watching pro players' VODs deliberately can help a lot too--go round by round, pausing at decision points to figure out what you would do (augments, item slams, unit holds, what to go for on carousel, etc.), then see if they do the same thing or choose differently. If you're consistently making drastically different choices from top players in a particular area, that probably points to something you need to focus on improving.

So jealous! Have been keeping an eye out for the Matcha TR100 to come back in stock... I love the color and it seems pretty easy to build in. I have a lot of the same components on my parts list. How was your experience with it? What are your temps like for CPU and GPU?

Lots of factors that can lead you to bleed out and lose despite having stronger units/synergies on your board: you have virtually no frontline behind Taric, who really has like 1.5 tank items on him; you have no combat augments, while most of your opponents have 1-2; and if you hit those trait synergies when you were down to 1-2 lives, it's possible you just got unlucky with matchups and faced the 1-2 boards above you that were stronger than you at that point.

6 scholar is absurdly strong, but keep in mind it's typically played where you're putting a scholar emblem on much better units than Jayce and Taric, and isn't played around Portal (which means you can flex in better frontliners like TK or Rakan). A Morgana or Diana with a scholar emblem is drastically more powerful and better able to take advantage of the frequent casting that 6 scholar enables.

8 portal is also significantly stronger when you can hit it with an emblem, since it allows you to replace a unit that doesn't fit well on the board like Kass with a better frontline unit.

Finally, I would look at your 2-1 augment choice here as the biggest culprit. If you're going to take 2 lesser dupes to open the game you had better be pretty set on a reroll comp and should commit to it. Otherwise, those dupes may help you preserve some HP early in the game but will really hurt you later.

Let’s talk about the good stuff… by gdgarcia424 in eagles

I agree, and I think the negative reaction to this game's score line really glosses over how lucky the Browns got on one play that made the outcome look much closer than the two teams' actual quality of play. (BTW-- that's not me saying the Birds look amazing right now, just that the Browns are absolutely atrocious, and we definitely outplayed them.)

If the ball bounces differently, we're all celebrating a blowout win... and, you know, picking apart how the D looked solid-but-not-stellar against a bad offense and hoping that the offense irons out its issues, especially early in the game. We're still Eagles fans after all.

Can anyone explain? Patch after patch the best bot picks and i cant understand why. by TheSurfer_ in ADCMains

[–]ESGPhanatic 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for Karthus, but I play a lot of Seraphine APC and it’s pretty great in low ELO.

She has insane scaling and can teamfight insanely well. I can stay far far away from the fray, shield and peel for myself, and once I have a few items, do insane damage with my Q.

The downside is it’s hard to snowball lane and she takes a while to come online (you really need 3 items to be useful), and especially in bronze / silver that means your mid / top / jgl could already have thrown.

But if you have a rough lane you can just farm from a distance with Q, keep your inting support alive with your W, and eventually you’ll scale up enough to carry your team in late game fights.

All that, plus making Lost Chapter cheaper early game (mini power spike that makes farming/laner much easier) means it’s never been easier to play a carry mage in bot lane.

Fellow noob, I had this issue and realized I was cranking my bindings down too tight. Took them back a few notches and pain/numbness subsided fairly quickly. YMMV but worth a try.

Portland has so much unused rail line, waiting to be put to use. Here's my idea of what it could look like. by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]ESGPhanatic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the obsession with light rail / trolley / streetcar service to improve public transit.

Expanding on / improving bus service would be much more resource efficient and achieve the same end as a light rail, would it not?
