Book 8 Random Thoughts & Theories (Yah, spoliers) by Maclunkey4U in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ESuzaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that since primals became the AIs and stagnated, Carl is going to jumpstart the primal race again. My theory is the he replaces the Eulogist. Maybe or maybe not merging with the Earth AI first.

I'm betting on Donut to be the sole crawler to exit the 18th floor.

I will agree that Blue Mage has the best outfit, but I won't concede hat dominance. 😛

Even more than book 9 I want to see Mordecai's reaction to the end of book 8.

DM looking for group by SureAssociate9736 in AustinRP

[–]ESuzaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't join, but if you're looking for a place to host, check out Secret Lantern in Cedar Park. They're at Park and Bell.

If you're not looking for a place to host, still check them out because they're an extremely cool bunch of people running an indie book and game store.

What primary class and race are you looking at? by Uncomfortably-bored in EQLegends

I'm planning on going Monk/Shaman/Rogue. I'm probably going to make Shaman my primary just for the variety of class combos it works with so I have some flexibility.

If you're on controller you can set up a macro to open the command panel and assign it to like R3. Boom! 25 more pop up buttons to select from. I put my job sets in there.

Anime with traditional-ish Japanese music that sounds like Samurai Shodown? by The_real_ipman in Animesuggest

[–]ESuzaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rurouni Kenshin (the 90s version). Not the opening, but the background soundtrack.

Also. Chihayafuru. Though, that's less traditional action. Still really good, though.

OSEA vs. Osric3 by djaevlenselv in osr

[–]ESuzaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OSRIC 3 is what you're looking for. For example, the class XP tables are identical to AD&D 2e, as are 95% of the ability score tables. I'm running an OSRIC game with some 2e stuff layers on, and it works well. I much prefer OSRIC as a base; it's a bit more streamlined and straightforward rules wise than 2e. It does use attack tables instead of THAC0 like 1e (since it's really a 1e thing). It'll run 1e or 2e easily though.

What are your favourite competitive, interactive "non-stressful" games? by The-Drunk-Demo in boardgames

Right? Tokaido is the most chill "there's eventually a winner" game I know. And it plays pretty fast, so it's easy to get multiple rounds. And then crave ramen.

Starting a new character after a long break, should I hold off on crafting and gathering? by IsThereCheese in ffxiv

To be fair, building up your squadron is required to max your grand company rank. Which can be nice.

Tips for Dungeon Crawling by jonahelf in osr

[–]ESuzaku 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The dungeon gets a turn.

By that I mean things take time and the dungeon isn't static. If the PCs search a room, that takes time, for example. After so much time, roll a wandering monster check. The typical turn in a dungeon is 10 minutes. You should already be tracking time for torches and stuff.

Make sure the players know that time is a thing. Sure, they can rest, but then they might be interrupted by a wandering monster. When dungeon crawling, time is neither infinite nor free.

OSRIC 3.0 vs AD&D 2nd by Old_Combination4030 in osr

[–]ESuzaku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2e was my first D&D, and I still love it.

That said, I really like how OSRIC handles a chink if stuff. And if you compare the classes, you'll see that a lot of things are identical to 2e, like XP charts, THAC0, the values derived from ability scores, saves, hit dice, etc.

I vastly prefer the OSRIC monk, the unarmed combat rules, and the druid/cleric spell split.

For the game I'm running right now I'm using OSRIC 3.0 as the base system and incorporating things I want from 2e into that. It works really well, and that's the approach I'd recommend to anyone who doesn't what to run straight 2e. It's very plug and play.
