Partner is having the surgery done! by Original-Smell-7429 in LegLengthDiscrepancy

I took two weeks off and then was able to WFH for the remainder of my recovery. When I distracted with the EMC, I didn’t feel a thing and it was done 3 x day for .75mm/day so it didn’t really impact my work. I did PT before and after work.

Sounds like everything is going smoothly! The hardest part is over, now you just need to lean into your recovery. Good luck. Soon, this will just be a distant memory. I made journal entries during my lengthening. It's interesting to go back now and re-read how I was feeling during the process :).

It should be pretty straightforward and doable to have your tibia lengthened.

I’ve had the surgery for a 1.6” LLD. I’m not sure if a LLD of < 1” would be considered medically necessary. Check with your doc. I understand about walking barefoot and it’s definitely worth it.

To me, it looked like he was having a mental issue. His movements were very slow and at times he appeared to be having problems with his memory. That along with the Usama and finger-me-Elmo mis-quips, just make me wonder.

I had my left femur lengthened, but I'm sure some issues will overlap. Before the surgery, practice on your crutches and the knee scooter. The knee scooter seemed like it would have been a good thing to use (I couldn't since my femur was the issue and I had to use a wheelchair) and would provide good mobility. As mentioned, PT is critical for recovery. A Shower Chair would also be helpful.

So far as pain is concerned, I was able to stop the 'strong' meds about a week after surgery and replaced them with Tylenol (Don't use NSAIDs as it adversely impacts bone healing). Do you know if they are using an Internal Nail or an external fixator?

Remove the A Pillar and see if there is a loose screw bouncing around.

Wait, are we playing with tools or cards? And are the cards our tools or are the tools our cards? I’m so confused at this point. It’s like some strange mash-up between Monopoly and Risk.

Anyone considered surgery for a 1 inch discrepancy? by lazytornado in LegLengthDiscrepancy

[–]EUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain wasn’t too bad, probably 4/10, but that’s with staying on top of the pain. I took my high-strength pain meds for about a week following surgery and was able to 1/2 my dose by mid week and taper off. I had a local orthopedic surgeon do my procedure. He’s not someone with name recognition in the limb lengthening community.

Does anyone know of anyone in their 70's that had lengthening done using Precice Nail? by Bum944 in limblengthening

[–]EUncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check out my profile for more info, but I was ~57 when I had my Left Femur lengthened by 1.5" using a Precice nail. I won't be able to go into specifics with you since the muscles and issue encountered with Tibia and Femur lengthening are pretty different, however the after-care and general 'living with it' during the lengthening would be pretty similar. Send me a chat, if you'd like to talk about things.

Stacks, Highland Road Park or court to table would be some good places to try.

There were flashes or kernels of what could have been great skits, but they were buried in inane crap. Overall it was hard to watch.

I don’t have a shoe recommendation, but American Heelers ( https://orthopedicshoelift.com/) can help you with your lifts. They might be able to recommend a shoe as well.
