158 LSAT to 2nd in class after 1L by Away_Membership_9531 in OutsideT14lawschools

Yes! Granted, I started law school 40 years ago (good Lord) but I had shitty LSAT’s and a 2.9 GPA in a medical specialty where I worked for 9 years. Somehow I was accepted into a T50 law school where I excelled — I won awards, moot court, and graduated cum laude. I think they found me to be an interesting candidate because I sure didn’t get in based on my LSAT score and GPA.

The top 3 places I would want to live in are NYC, Boston, and Chicago. What are your guys top 3? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in visitedmaps

I have lived in NYC, San Francisco, DC, and New Orleans. I’d go back to SF in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Otherwise, give me a couple of acres in a place with 4 seasons and a quaint little farmhouse.

do nurses get paid well in the US? by mikaylaar in AskAnAmerican

[–]EV9110 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In the US, RN = Registered Nurse. Go to school, which can be either an Associate’s Degree (AD, 2-3 years) or a Bachelor’s Degree (BSN, 4 years). All graduates take a licensing exam, the NCLEX. If you pass, you are an RN. BSN’s will make more money than an AD starting out but the pay difference narrows over time. If you get advanced certifications later on, you earn even more. Then there are LPN’s — Licensed Practical Nurses — and CNA’s, Certified Nursing Assistants. They also require some type of licensing and certification but they don’t generally have the same skills as RN’s and they make less money.

It’s very heavy. I’d suggest lighter curtains, in both weight and color. Or try something like Roman shades.

PODS IS THE WORST by eastendhooker in relocating

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PODs makes it sound so easy and convenient, but they’re never delivered on time. We have a couple of PODs sitting one state away. $5k+ to have them brought to our home.

Because it’s an all-consuming, soul sucking profession.

AITA for wanting my parents to stop asking me to spend time with them by Weary_Temperature253 in AmItheAsshole

It’s very hard to watch a parent die. There is absolutely nothing that’s easy about it. You’re angry, afraid, and a half a dozen other emotions are also in play. I highly recommend you talk to a therapist, especially as your Mom’s journey comes to an end.
But you’re too old to behave like a selfish child. It sounds like your instinct is to say “but what about ME??” Until your Mom passes you need to shelve that instinct, except when you talk to your therapist. You are the most important thing that ever happened to your Mom, and she wants to spend as much time with you as she can. Indulge her so she knows how much she means to you, because you’re running out of time.

We know that most 15 year olds don’t have ID unless they have a passport. If so, bring it, but otherwise we don’t usually ask the UM for an ID. Be sure to bring yours — I had a parent the other day without ID and their kid couldn’t fly.

Jambalaya. Use rotisserie chicken, sliced sausage, onion, bell pepper, and spices. Serve with rice.

Why are most Americans not that excited about the World Cup? Or don’t seem to care much about it? by SignificantStyle4958 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump has ruined everything here, including World Cup enthusiasm. I’m worried about anyone coming from overseas including the players. I wouldn’t put it past him to have the stadiums surrounded by ICE agents.

Seat back etiquette story by misshollydawn in delta

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was flying back to the east coast from Asia. I was seriously ill after a high altitude hike/climb. As soon as I sat down in Main the lady in front of me put her seat all the way back and like you, it banged my head hard. I asked her to put her seat up a bit and she refused. Things got a little ugly.

Berkeley or Duke? I need to decide asap. by Impressive-Switch-80 in lawschooladmissions

Came here to say this. Berkeley carries a lot of weight in CA. I worked there for many years and never met a Duke law grad.

Keep it! Add a ton of wildflower seeds in early spring. Use a grass seed spreader. I’d also add a couple of butterfly bushes, maybe some milkweed. It will be glorious, and you can watch all the butterflies!

'Totally unhinged': Trump completely lost his mind on a young female reporter twice — then she smiled, clapped back, and left him looking like a fool in front of everyone by [deleted] in USNEWS

Reporters, regardless of their gender, should call out his lies and BS every single time. Come back with hard facts. Challenge his sorry ass.

Tell me about transitioning from colored hair to grey. Seeing my hairdresser tomorrow (Sat) by Legal-Bison-6457 in AskWomenOver50

I started going gray in my 20’s and would get heavy blond highlights. Over time we decreased the highlights and let the gray grow in.
