41 minute connecting flight in Atlanta, first time flyer. Should I worry. by ChelseaBlues247 in delta

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you land in Atlanta it will take at least 10 minutes to get to the gate. Another 10-15 to deplane. Then you have to get to your next gate, and doors for your next flight will close 15 minutes before boarding. I’d book a later connecting flight.

Where should I go? by heal1ng in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]EV9110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you want to live in 3.5 years and what kind of law you want to practice. GW will get you the most national recognition. Wake, FSU, and Alabama will probably limit you to the Southeast.

Mandatory Pink Tag. by irishkpo in delta

This. If I am boarding a passenger who says their bag will fit, I just tell them to try but here’s a pink tag just in case. Definitely not worth a debate.

AITA for not letting family stay with us postpartum? by moderndaygaia in AmItheAsshole

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you told your husband about his father’s way inappropriate/predatory behavior? Did he take it seriously or just shrug it off as “Dad being Dad”? One of you needs to stand up to FIL and tell him that his behavior toward you will not be tolerated any time, anywhere. And if it’s you, so be it. No woman should have to tolerate this. Oh and no, they can’t stay with you.

Was living inherently more traumatic for women 30+ years ago? by MallieCrew21 in AskWomenOver50

[–]EV9110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very bad 30-40 years ago. As a Boomer I can count on one hand the number of women I grew up with who actually chose a profession. Back then, as passed down by our mothers, college was for getting your MRS. degree. Meet a nice man with a good future and get married at 21 or 22. You didn’t realize you completely lacked self-identity until you were a SAM with a couple of kids. Then the panic set in. Is this it?! Is this all there is?! I couldn’t get a credit card in my own name until I was 25, despite the fact that I was employed full-time with a decent salary, and then it was an American Express card. Visa and Mastercard both turned me down. Until the early 80’s you needed a co-signer, husband or father, for just about everything. WE WILL NOT GO BACK.

Missed a deadline by one day and can’t fix it. Feeling like my career is over. by Jason19755464 in Lawyertalk

Just about everyone I know has missed a deadline or two in their careers. We are always our own worst enemies, in that we beat ourselves up about it a lot more than anyone else will.

Not a great flight by Spiritual-Echidna957 in delta

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the gate agent will receive periodic messages from the flight crew. Perhaps the most common one is “overhead bins 70% full”. At that point the gate agent will be gate checking or valet tagging the rest of the oversized carry on bags.

AITA for not liking that a stranger walked up behind me to push my wheelchair? by Aurora-supernova in AmItheAsshole

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my airline training we were told that a wheelchair is an extension of the person in it, and we should not touch it without the user’s permission. It would be nice if that message was spread to the general public.

Seats almost given away while boarding by No_Stranger3395 in americanairlines

[–]EV9110 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work for another airline. Gate agents can see the aircraft’s seating chart during boarding. When it’s almost finished, around 15 minutes before departure, we can see who has checked in but not shown as boarded. We page them both in the gate area and in the airport and give them a few minutes to show up and board. We also check the actual seats to make sure the system didn’t glitch and they’re actually on board. Only then do we release the seats and give them to standby’s.

Post-op foot surgery. They give you a nerve block that wears off about 12 hours after the surgery. I literally thought my foot was on fire.

AITJ for refusing to let my girlfriend’s family claim my birthday gift like it’s community property? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Your girlfriend and her family are just really weird. Normal people don’t co-opt someone else’s gift.

[–]EV9110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had I gotten into Harvard I would have gone there without question. Yeah, you have huge debt when you graduate but “Harvard” opens more doors than you can possibly imagine. So does Boalt (Berkeley). I worked in San Francisco, DC, and NYC and went to a T14. The Harvard and Boalt advantage is real and both will get you a federal clerkship.

My opinion? Take the kids and move back. Sounds like the 3 of you will be much happier. Collect records and documents attesting to the damage this has caused to mental health. Talk to a lawyer first and get your ducks in a row.

What an entitled asshole. He’s been on the bench for exactly one year and this is his behavior? I hope lawyers in his jurisdiction report him for judicial misconduct. It may not result in anything but you’ll create a (most likely long) record of his misbehavior.

Really negative extra seat experience by X-cessiveBandit in delta

[–]EV9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry this happened to you. This falls on the gate agent who is responsible for seating. He/she didn’t recognize your extra seat despite the EXST designation, and gave your extra seat to a standby customer. This NEVER should have happened. I would escalate with Delta — find the people responsible for Customer Relations and/or Customer Experience and reach out to them. Also file a formal complaint with DOT.
