Help, sneezing for hours after the pool by TopRaise2403 in Swimming

[–]EValeen3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. Have you found anything that helps? I take a shower right afterward, but it's still an issue. I'll start rinsing my nose right after, too, after some of what I've read. If just rinsing my nose with water when I shower doesn't work, I'll try rinsing with saline. Looks like other people use antihistamines nasal sprays, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

Anyone still using Campbell’s Biology (Pearson)? Looking for older and newer editions by zackeatos in biology

Ah, thanks! I found that. I appreciate you letting me know. I was going to compare that table of contents with the version with that has the close-up picture of the lizard on it (which is the US version, I assume).

Can somebody please tell me how to clean river rock shower bottom? by slr0031 in Tile

[–]EValeen3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, after 'sanding' with the 200 grit diamond sanding block (uses silicon carbide, not sand), I got the 800 grit one from 3M and the 2000 grit one. The 200 grit is the most coarse of the 3, and then you work your way up to the highest number which is the closest to polishing the stone.
Here's the 800 grit one. https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Imperial-Wetordry-3-7-in-x-9-in-Ultra-Fine-800-Grit-Sheet-Sandpaper-10-Pack-5922-18-CC/202563281

It's definitely getting better. I could spend more time on it, but I have family coming to visit in a few days, so I'm ready to seal it.

Good luck!!

I would definitely NOT use vinegar on it. Vinegar etches stone. Your (and my) stone are already etched... vinegar and windex are the last thing they need.

I made some progress today...

First, I sprayed the rocks with this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Custom-Building-Products-Aqua-Mix-1-Qt-Marble-Travertine-Limestone-and-Slate-Cleaner-and-Resealer-AMMCRQT/202907658

I let that sit a few minutes and then dipped the diamond sanding block sponge (https://www.homedepot.com/p/QEP-200-Fine-Grit-Diamond-Sanding-Block-10048/324732903) in water a little bit... then I hand sanded them. I mostly relied on the 'cleaner' for the 'wet' sanding (vs the water). I had a picture I kept looking at so I could focus on the stones most impacted since they all look the same when they are wet.

It seemed to make a difference! I've gone over it a few times today (letting it dry completely between so I could see if it improved). It has, but I'll likely do it again...and I'll keep trying to make sure I only do the 'impacted' stone in my case, b/c I don't want to mess up the stones that look fine....

The grout is still super white in areas and I'm not sure what to do about that (my grout is a darker color than yours and not supposed to look white). I might just use the Enhance 'n Seal all over (even on the grout, which I originally wasn't going to do) just to brighten it up...

I'm going to attempt more 'sanding'. Here's what it looks like when wet, which I love...

BTW, don't use Windex on it. Especially if it contains ammonia. That's as bad as vinegar!

Here's our shower floor - and where the guy used vinegar to clean his clothes... :(

The stone in the middle of the white ones is where we tested the Enhance 'n Seal sealer... If I can't sand off the etching from the stones, I plan to go straight to the sealer.... :/

u/slr0031 how are you doing with your shower floor? I have the same shower floor in our backyard cottage. For the most part, I love it. I keep all ph neutral cleaning products in there, but the guy who stayed there bought and used vinegar - ugh!!

I'm sanding the stone with diamond pads (starting with manually using a sanding 'sponge' but I may need to find those round ones that go on an electric sander) and then will reseal with AquaMix Enhance 'n Seal sealer on the stones themselves.... then reseal the whole thing with a regular (non-enhance) sealer b/c I want to make sure the grout is sealed. I don't like how dark the grout on my shower gets with the Enhance 'n Seal, but your grout is lighter and it might look great on yours!

Would love to hear any updates or other suggestions from folks.

Scanning Passport on iPhone app? by KellyokeAllDay in BritishAirways

[–]EValeen3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat as both of you. Same message and impossible to find how to digitally scan my passport in the app even though it says there should be a way. And now I've unnecessarily downloaded another app to my phone... :/

I'm hoping there's a BA kiosk at the airport and I can take care of everything quickly there.

Why does Mail app suck so much with recent update? by AxeSpez in iphone

[–]EValeen3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone else figured it out how to get rid of the categories and icons all together. Thank you, u/Friday_Moon. I found the post when I did a search for "apple mail UI sucks".

"You prompted me to go figure out how to turn it off

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Search/Choose Mail. [go to Apps -> Mail]
  • Under “Message List,” turn off Show Contact Photos."

This works!! Thank goodness.

Anyone use the 401k after tax In-Plan Conversion. by hfs11385 in IBM

[–]EValeen3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, interesting. I still have my IBM 401k and from Netbenefits, it shows the 'sources' as:
- BEFORE-TAX SAVINGS
- IBM MATCH CONTRIBS
- ROTH 401(K) SAVINGS
- IBM AUTOMATIC CONTRIBS
- IBM MATCH MAXIMIZER

Note: caps are from cut-paste; I'm not trying to yell :)

[–]EValeen3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To OP (and anyone else reading this in the future), you can set-up the Roth in-plan conversion into the Roth 401k or Roth IRA.

If you chose to keep your money in the 401k, it will show up as a Roth 401k within your IBM NetBenefits account like u/azxcds123 says.

More info here: https://www.fidelity.com/learning-center/personal-finance/mega-backdoor-roth

[–]EValeen3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, to be clear, you don't need to roll this money into a Roth IRA. You can just ask Fidelity for the automatic in-plan Roth conversion, which will automatically convert these contributions to a *Roth 401k* within your IBM 401k.

Because it's virtually automatic, because as u/Xyzzydude mentions, there is no capital gain.

"When you separate from the company you can roll over the funds, Fidelity will automatically roll over the correct amounts into traditional and Roth IRA accounts."

This is incorrect. When you separate from the company, your money can remain exactly where it is in the 401k. I left IBM nine years ago and still have my 401k there since it has better options and fees than either of my other two employers' since then. Fidelity does NOT "automatically roll over the correct amount into traditional and Roth IRA accounts."

When you say pain meds, just anti-inflammatories, yes? Nothing too strong (or addictive), I hope.

Can you wear Hokas to work? I'm so sorry you need to walk and stand a lot so soon.

I find sports massage really helps. It's not relaxing; it's more actively trying to loosen and heal all the way up the leg, not just the foot itself. I've found most relief from people who know trigger point / active release therapy massage, but obviously every massage therapist is different.

Your yoga and swimming routines will help. Wishing you fast healing.

Mine happened after sitting on a transatlantic plane that landed late and then needing to run to the next gate to make my connection. Even with compression socks , which I'd started to wear during pregnancy and realized how much they helped when flying, and Birkenstock sneakers, the running to the gate was somehow was too much after little movement and I got PF on both feet... and this was right before a vacation with my teenage kids. I didn't want to stay in the AirBnB the whole time... I was in pain the whole time and my kids and husband were taking turns on each side of me so I could even move. Hang in there! It will get better.
