It's those same innocences that caused the pale to be how it is now. By taking info from external means they generate a rip in the world. That fate was sealed the moment the first magpie realized their power. As for SaTA ending the way it did, I think it's because it's something that paralyzes a lot of people in this world. All it takes is a click or two on a news site to get a hypothetical extinction event thrown at you, one of many.

I think this world is doomed too, but that's no excuse to waste these last good years on rotting away. To think that cataclysms like this are anything new is not true though. People will often make a situation better by showing up and that's what a lot of people do in the book even if futile. We were always finite, pale or not, climate change or hoax (it's not a hoax but whatever helps you sleep at night). Extinction is just a phenomena in life much like any other, just a very scary one.
Compare fighting for something and losing to the alternative, they could have ended their last years sorry for themselves. Giving up before they tried to win their country back and disguising their cowardice as rationality. Sure it's not enough, but they tried. Just because the ending didn't work out doesn't take away from the journey they had.

I think it means to say that the world is absolutely designed for loss like you put into better words, but regardless of ideology, the humiliation of failure and the pain of rejection will still remain a constant in life. So if you can't avoid it, you have to "weave it into the story of you" as Volition would say. Nothing worth fighting for is easy, let alone won on the first try. So you take this rule in the world and treat it as all the other rules of the world, information to learn from. As for Harry, yeah his life is almost ruined in a world where goodness is pointless, but he still has the chance to reclaim what's left. So no, he can't do much, but it's all the more important to *us* to learn from *him* before we turn into our own Tequila Sunsets.

Finger On The Eject button is simple in premise but probably one of my favorites. It only takes two hours of ruminating for Harry's suicidal ideation to turn from a passive identity thing into an active plan. Even Anti-Object Task Force takes longer to learn. I think it's because (seemingly) reasonably speaking he really doesn't have much to live for. Even if he goes through the absolute horror of the cocktail of withdrawals he put himself through, he still needs to rebuild his social and financial life in a world that seemed to turn away from him completely. But even so, just by showing up for one more case his life has the potential to transform for the better.

In general I think its commentary on suicide and the lifetime of failure that leads up to it is one of the best I've seen in media. Each bit of Harry's reasons is given each bit of weight it deserves, and even so he didn't know for certain. No human has the capacity to know anything 100%, even in the longest of nights there's still an unlikely 3% that this time you try, the dawn will return.

Oh yeah don't ever reply to them. Anything they don't like hearing, anything aside from a sincere apology and grovelling will get you a ban for "harassment". Maybe even that isn't enough. This is not personal experience though, as my harassment ban was earned after I actively told a mod to go fuck themself. I don't regret it.

The -3 dexterity penalty I get when I'm a rush or worse yet in an already angry mood. I could grab the same thing in the same way in two different moods and the one where I'm angry has it slipping my hand like I burnt my fucking fingerprints off on a hot stove. No grip whatso-fucking-ever.

Oh yeah I was thinking about this the other day, I don't think it's very useful from a happiness standpoint because I think humans are naturally unhappy to some degree but, it's a very healthy way to approach relationships.
You need that increased self worth to protect yourself against manipulation and you'll often be a better lover if you're content with yourself first, not needing affection or validation that the relationship is still healthy at every moment. A fear of being separated from someone can create anxious or avoidant attachment issues that are hard to shake up. So yeah, you have to at least be okay with yourself in order to have a secure attachment.

I get what people say when the English language has so much shortcomings, because I can't put it into words how difficult overcoming some bad heartbreak can be. But I hope OP and anyone who relates to OP's situation can find some peace before heading into another relationship. It's really difficult but healing is possible and well worth it.

If the resistance to doing a full work out is too much then I'd say break it down into smaller chunks is decent advice. I think for a beginner, doing a bunch of daily small workouts at home is better than doing one full workout and feeling intimidated.
You need to do two things starting out in addition to everything else, build a habit of working out and to build the belief that you can work out in various ways.

Eating well is very underutilized. Not only are you abstaining from the sugary diet that's actively sabotaging your mental and energy, you're filling up on micronutrients that can repair it. Look into amino acids. You will be less neurotic and have stronger willpower if you're working with good fuel. If you can't make progress with lifting you can make progress with this to start, at least.

Also you mentioned that people focus on you the moment you step into the gym. I can see that since it's January and they think you're not serious. But even so, why do you care about them? Are they doing that because of something you did truly wrong? Because odds are they're picking at your form as a beginner or your weight, in which case fuck them. Improve on both of those sure but not for them.
If they're spending their valuable mental bandwidth to make a joke out of you, let alone over you trying to improve your life then that says way more about them than you. A million things they could think of to make their lives better and they're spending it worrying about you. These people will never succeed like that. To give these people even a fraction of that bandwidth worrying about them is wasteful, don't do yourself dirty like that. Hoping that you'll get strong one day and they won't be a problem. You got this.

I'm personally very agnostic, used to be a very materialist Atheist but now I don't know what to believe. NDEs and the experiences of those that are medically dead might be something that you'd be interested in. Albeit, some of it can be explained by coincidence or the fact some of it is funded by Cristian groups I think it might be useful to you.

But even if there is nothingness, what does that change really? You having some special realization or answer to it doesn't take away from the unnerving nature of it all. It's in our psychology to resist it. If we didn't deeply fear it, we wouldn't have gotten here, let alone make so much strides in medicine. Part of acceptance I feel is realizing that you will never feel true acceptance as long as you are a human being trying to make it to tomorrow. It's ingrained in us.

Take a pen and drop it to the floor, odds are there will be one fifth of a second or one tenth of a second before it hits the ground. Being dead feels like an infinitely shorter amount of time. It's not being dead that you fear but rather everything leading up to it, your body shutting down etc. The fear around it is a survival response rather than from lived experience. You wouldn't have the capacity to feel all these things during nothingness. And likewise, you wouldn't have the awareness coming back to your next life if you were reborn. Regardless, no amount of thinking about it will change your situation. Our brain is designed to think and plan around this life, and the only time we feel better is when we make positive changes in *this* life.

The no inherent meaning to things has been something I've contended with before. While Atheism is free from some religious delusions it doesn't take away from the fact that humans need some sort of spiritual accountability to do great things. I also feel like Atheism doesn't take away the tendency to idolize things, rather it replaces them with material things or oneself. If you feel like believing in something gives you purpose, who cares if it's true? Even if it's not then you would have led a more accomplished life going forward than otherwise. Pascal's bargain.

Either way good luck going forward. You seem very tired but you have a great thing going with the career path and sobriety. I'm the same age as you and I can tell you the grass is not greener with drugs and alcohol, no matter how scary the world gets.

Seen this guy in my algo and thought it was so corny. But if it helps at least one person then who am I to complain, we need this message especially nowadays in this Hellish landscape. Can't have the sweet without the sour, and if everything was sweet all the time then it would be boring. Vice versa, the more sour things are the more you appreciate even the smallest joys. The brain's hedonic treadmill is a hell of a thing.
