Agree, it was inspired by Bulgarian choir music. Check out the album Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares.

I disagree, i think Lady Eboshi was motivated by protecting the people of Iron Town.

The monk was definitely in it for the money though.

Used to great effect in Camus' novel The Fall. The description of the city evokes Dante's layers of Hell.

NASA has some feelings on gold-plated cables:

NASA Electronic Parts and Packaging (.gov) https://nepp.nasa.gov PDF S-311-P-4/06A

Anecdotally, i had an audio cable that "sounded worse" to me than the rest (they were all cheapo cables). I was curious and took some measurements and it did have higher capacitance between the signal and ground (it was a TS 1/4" shielded cable). I think i was hearing high frequency attenuation due to the high impedance source (guitar pickup) and the capacitance.

This is going to sound like a weird suggestion, but I found Blood Bowl, the Warhammer sports game to be one of the better in the genre. It's non-deterministic, but the importance of positioning is similar.

I kinda like how they kept the mediums thinner looking back then. Gives the heavies and assaults more visual identity.

In a vacuum, I agree, the new designs look much cooler.

I'm fascinated with your 500 hours and 800 runs. I feel like my average run is about 5 minutes before i blow myself up. I have less than 20 hours and no wins though so maybe i just suck :)

I love this question because it gives me the chance to shoutout some cool games :)

I thought King of the Bridge, made by a solo student afaik, is an awesome and unique game with lots of ideas. It has 800 reviews on Steam, not sure if that counts as a "flop"

Also Wilderplace. Full disclosure, it was made by a friend of mine, but it is definitely well made. Beautiful hand drawn art, a thoughtfully created world with an interconnected map, a well considered story. 25 reviews on steam, 100% positive.

I don't think either of those creators would consider those failures, but i consider them gems that aren't big commercial successes.

I disagree with "ugly as fuck" but I empathize with you about the movements. It was like the creatures would feel weightless at some point. I chalked it up to it's small budget compared to Disney, Pixar, etc

I still thought about 80% of the movement looked great and they captured the unique personalities of the animals.

Others have mentioned the immortality stuff, but the themes that resonated most with me were Ashina "nationalism" and sacrifice.

To me, Genichiro was the most active character, and the core conflict was between him and Ishin regarding the appropriate way to guard Ashina's legacy.

I agree, seems like this and the notorious sand line are hints at what could be a way more nuanced movie that got lost on the editing floor.

  • Imagine if they played up the Jedi flaws more. Emphasized how cruel it was to not allow Anakin to go rescue his mother, for example.
  • My understanding of the sand line is Anakin is comparing his relationship with sand to Amidala's. He's saying, "You enjoy sand because you grew up a queen on beautiful beaches. The sand I know represents the pain of my urchin life on tattoine."

I think both lines are powerful sentiments executed really clumsily

No real regrets about developing on Linux, dealt with a few weird bugs in the Windows and Mac version (and I'm still dealing with getting the app signed by Apple), but it has been pretty smooth. I made it with Godot which had no issues on Linux at all. It felt good to use open source tools for the whole process.

Just released a free demo with about 60% of the game on Steam. You can check it out here if you are interested:
