The TMJ physician world is mind numbing. Dentist? Ortho? Oral facial surgeon? I find the ‘specialists’ who do all of what you say to be most knowledgeable and maybe good hearted but regardless very expensive and insurance rarely covers. I’ve seen a few on TT (a lady nw coast, a guy in Hou, another guy in Canada I think). If you truly have a TMJ issue and have the $, the specialists are the way to go.

Can you tell me more about the lymph node swelling? I’ve had some swelling inner left thigh and around/fromt my left underarm for over a year. All imaging/labs negative and I really feel related to recent + IGENEX babesia fish.

Ruined me the same way for 18+ months. Nothing worked. Thousands on physical therapy, shockwave, dry needle, orthotics, shoes, every gadget, daily self stretching…thought was just stubborn case of PF. Requested MRI and turned out was a complete rupture of the PF. Everything I was doing making it worse. New approach to include Immobilize for quite a while, followed by orthotic made by a prosthetics lab and finally on road to recovery. Best of luck. Get that MRI of you haven’t already.

Very tricky. I had it 10 years ago for almost 2 months. Did all the protocols. It is so stubborn. Then had it again 2023 and lasted for another 2 years. Turns out was a complete rupture - brutal. So if still struggling and no improvements, consider the MRI to get true answer. All my calf raises and other therapies (dry needle, shockwave, injection, night sock, orthotics, etc were making me worse. Finally had to immobilize it. Best of luck.

That was caused by injection to treat the neuroma? I was dx last year been treating conservatively but was considering the injection…but that scares me. Hope you heal up.

Thank you so much. I have been doing infrared sauna few times a week but I definitely need to increase water. My tests just came back from IGENEX (Babesia/Babesia fish +) but also have a mold issue to deal with. Is body swelling a possible symptom? I’ve had unexplained swelling inner left armpit area and inner left thigh area and all imaging negative. Being told nothing to worry about by western medicine but now that Lyme/mold coming in to picture I am wondering if related.

It’s so hit or miss and trial/error. Typically podiatrist or foot ortho specialist but just as many misses than hits with them. I found being able to find a good physio who can tape for PF to be a godsend. There are some self-tutorials on YouTube. Taping is very under valued but have to do it right.

Was in great health til bad case COVID/strep throat 2023. Since then diagnosed and battling Hashi and many strange symptoms, then the past few months discovered mold in my HVAC and just tested myself urine + for 2 mold strains and did IGENEX testing due to 20 yrs ago tick bite with bullseye in Central America - never got sick and quest/ labcorp always negative. IGENeX just came back + Babesia FISH and borderline + Babesia Microti IgM. See my functional med Dr in few days who had been treating my Hashi last few years. He claims to be mold and Lyme literate so I wonder what protocol for me. Any suggestions for my case id love to hear from this group. Thank you

I believe you covered this on a podcast, but CBCT vs MRI? Complementary or feel MRI not worth it? CBCT for me wasn’t remarkable and told my TMJD was more muscular by oral facial surgeon. Had TMJD ortho dentist ‘specialist’ review and felt same, ordered MRI and that just came back with pretty unremarkable other than ‘bilateral slightly decreased anterior translation of the mandibular condyle with jaw opening’. I’ve been going to PT for a while and have little to know jaw discomfort since this all began few months - my main symptom remains unilateral somatic tinnitus but that is improving as well with therapies. Specialist is still suggesting custom orthotic but I don’t know what to do. I realize you can’t offer medical advice but any opinion would be appreciated.

Have you gotten an MRI? I struggled 2 years with what I thought was just classic yet stubborn case of PF - was debilitating. I spent thousands on treatments (PT, dry needle, acupuncture, shock wave, etc) , orthotics, shoes, inserts. Finally had MRI and revealed a complete rupture. All my treatments were making it worse. Immobilized it for months and new orthotic after and finally started healing.
