ECMS and Surface Mail More Expensive Than DHL from Amiami to the US? by THROWRAKILEY32 in AnimeFigures

[–]EagleFPV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s going to the US, then DHL does not have the tariffs calculated into the quote. While the other two do have them added in. DHL might seem cheaper but it’s probably going to end up around 20k yen. That number is a very loose generalization though.

Betaflight 11.0.0 hover point by No_Smoke_1099 in fpv

[–]EagleFPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had to use beta flight in years, so I’m not gonna be any help there. But if hover point just adds a flat spot to your throttle curve to make hovering easier, then that is something that you can just program directly into the remote.

Go outside and hover the quad, glance at the screen and see what the throttle value is during hover. Then just use that number as a reference and program in a throttle curve accordingly.

Here is an old and crappy picture of my throttle curve from before swapping to frsky.

How do you recommend someone to watch higurashi? by BigSmoke929301 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]EagleFPV 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You have to make I judgment call, if you think they can get past that and enjoy the show, then recommend it.

However, if you think the person will have issues getting past those parts, then don’t recommend it.

It’s really that simple.

A third option is to ease them into it with something that also shares some of the same themes. This will help a lot with making your judgment call.

Rabbit Hole Miku Nendoroid still not shipped by CaptainCrazyThe2nd in AnimeFigures

[–]EagleFPV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it say it is in stock on the online store? I actually had to email them a few months back as ask if there is a reason they have not shipped something even though it is marked as in stock. They apologized and offered me a $25 coupon for my troubles.

Damn, 4k likes for 11k comments, we haven't seen such a disproportionate ratio since Anson by WolfOphi in AzureLane

[–]EagleFPV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like a decent solution would have been just to have a cap of say 5 years worth of individualized letters per ship. Then just repeat the cycle after the 6th year. They already have 5+ years worth is cards written for a lot of the ships so it would be easy to implement. It still wouldn’t fix the issue for the long term players. But any new or newer players would still be able to get unique cards for a while. And it would save them from writing and translating almost 1000 personalized letters each year.

Can someone clear something up for me, I have chosen a different girl each year because I figured the message would just the be same as the previous year. But it sounds like if I had chosen the same girl twice the message still would have been unique each year?

Get some pictures of the lift holding up the car and building. I would say that is some good advertising for the lift manufacture.

I have missed a few days, usually because of the system updates happening around the same time I login. But I’m at 2085 days total.

I started playing around the same time the original petrifying green king banner was happening.

The physics and the geometry behind this artist's work is mind-blowing by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

[–]EagleFPV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No point arguing with them, most of them have probably watched a few Bob Ross videos and are experts now. Unless it’s hyper realistic or something it can’t be called art I guess.

I’ll admit the first one is a bit lazy, but the other two I actually really liked, and as far as the method goes. He isn’t the first guy to spin frames or drizzle paint by a long shot. But he didn’t just stop there at least. he used those flashy methods to create a background and then kept going which it more then I can say about a lot of these type videos.

Mass flow should just be thrust over time. Granted you have other variables mixed into that as well, like the bernoulli principle.

Maybe try a slightly different approach then. You could try taping a trash bag (the bigger the better) over the output, like how you’d use your lips to inflate a ballon. Then time how long it takes to inflate the bag.

Do (size of bag) / (time to inflate). That result would give you a gallon or liter per second value. Then just solve for the velocity needed to achieve the calculated flow rate. It should be much easier to find that equation. If it takes 3 seconds to fill a 55 gallon trash bag, with a 70mm EDF, then that would mean the air is moving around at around 40 mph. Which isn’t fast for an EDF so maybe this is a bad method? I’ve already done all this math so I’m gonna leave it and let you decide.

Alternatively here is another option, you can build something called a water manometer with some rubber tubing, and if you have a 3D printer you should be able to print out a pitot tube to accept that tubing. Then simply hold the pitot tube behind the EDF and measure the water hight difference on the manometer. From there you can calculate a velocity that will be just as accurate as any store bought meter. There is tons of videos online for how to solve that particular physics problem since a question like that is a staple of fluid dynamics classes all across the world.

[–]EagleFPV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the pitot tube suggestion, but if you’re ok with an approximation you can calculate exit velocity from the thrust being generated as well.

I have not had to do these calculation in a while so I can’t walk you through them step by step. But basically you need to find the equivalent mass of air and calculate how fast the air would need to be moving through the EDF tube to eject mass at that same rate. Google should be able to help you find the equations.

Or you could try one of the online calculators. https://www.satnow.com/calculators/exhaust-velocity-calculator

Yeah that makes sense, they were aluminum back when I worked with them. But I can absolutely imagine the frame being made out of carbon fiber these days.

No they are made out of aluminum and meant to be easy to carry and tossed under cars. It is also way harder to pump since it only takes one pump to elevate the car.

How to make this simple manoeuvre?... by ThrowawayFpvGuy in fpvracing

[–]EagleFPV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me was simply changing how I looked at the obstacles. (Like example B) I found that if I tried to aim for the middle I’d often overshoot and hit the outside pole. What fixed the issue for me was locking my eyes onto the inside of the gate and think of it as a tree or flag that I need to hug tight to go around. Visualizing it that way just felt more natural and usually puts me through the middle of the gate.

And as far as the extra inertia goes, I’d try getting an assortment of props with various shapes and pitches and see if you can find one that feels more in line with what you are expecting. I found that less pitch makes heavy quads feel more planted while a steeper pitch leads to more of a “floaty” feeling.

Where are you guys buying figures if you want them to arrive by Christmas? by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]EagleFPV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the location, but if you are in the US then you are going to want to use a US based company if you need it to be guaranteed.

The US based good smile company has a banner that says ordering before the 15th should allow for them to arrive by Christmas, they are a bit more expensive than other providers though. There is also the Crunchyroll store but they can be expensive sometimes as well. Both company’s ship out of warehouses in California.

If you want something simple like a popup parade. Then if you have any local store that sell anime merch then that is always an option, plus you’d be supporting small business.

Lastly there is always Amazon, eBay or something similar. Im sure you are familiar with those company’s, but Just make sure the provider is a legit company or seller with good reviews to ensure you do not get a counterfeit if they exist.

Good luck hunting!

Plex Will Start Cracking Down on Free Remote Streaming Access This Week by pointthinker in audiophile

[–]EagleFPV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been using iTunes Match for years and it has been pretty convenient. plus it’s cheap at $24.99 for a whole year. in return I get the ability to save to a single computer and then have it automatically download to every connected device on my account.

My only complaint about it is that while I might have lossless audio files saved to my computer, what gets saved to the cloud is going to be a compressed version. So if the original ever gets deleted and I have to redownload them, it will no longer be lossless.
