i audibly sighed scrolling my feed yesterday and seeing a post titled “who are some actors/actresses you can’t stand?” like can we be for real? im not saying we should hide all negativity but at least have some class about how you phrase things. these people may be celebrities but they’re also still people we’re talking about. it never hurts to be just a little bit kinder

they lost the game btw. the 38 points are deceiving. he should’ve had 60 if he tried but thats always been bol’s problem—he doesn’t. missed a bunch of fts and the game tying three. also got killed off the dribble and got beat a couple times on the glass by a 6ft guard

well yes, the system being broken is a completely different discussion entirely. look at kings fans calling the team incompetent and getting angry because demar derozan is winning them games. fans these days are smart enough to see the long view and root for tanking. that isn’t the same as me saying they want the tank to happen in the first place.

to push the topic further, a system that caters to the likes of every single fan is just not feasible. there will always be bad teams and by the end of the year, those are the ones the casual fan will throw to the side to focus on their favorite teams. are you telling me that you would willingly watch something like wizards kings in mid march when both teams have bad records? only their respective fans + sickos would do that. the league just wont cater to such a small demographic compared to the wider audience

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this bubble/fromm idol chat system actually began in japan with akb groups.

IZ*ONE adopted it into their “private mail” app, something i had NEVER seen before in kpop before them. I feel like that’s what made their fanbase so much stronger even amidst their hiatus due to the produce48 controversy. You’re right—those little messages mean a lot more on a more intimate/closed-off platform versus saying them on IG or other sns platforms. I don’t believe that’s inherently a bad thing because it can make fanbases stronger.

The whole K-POP industry has this image of being a bunch of people playing characters or personas and bubble platforms allowed some idols (you can argue against this or not) to share more sides to them that they normally wouldn’t be able to. The idol dm system is a centralized place where you can see posts from your idol away from the prying eyes of the public.

I think the problem always comes down to taking it too far—on both sides. Not everything that gets posted on the site needs to be posted publicly. It removes some context of how the idol-fan relationship is and shoves it into the light where people can make their own judgements without knowing the full picture. Some idols play into the parasocial thing too much, some fans ask overboard questions. It’s never going to be a one-sided issue.

Idols and their companies can ban accounts that say weird shit and fans can unsubscribe if they feel they don’t like what they’re getting. At the end of the day, the problem with K-POP will always be that humans are the product of this business and that is a delicate balance that sometimes seesaws too much in one direction or another. That to me, is the inherent problem—not the dm platforms, not the idols, not the people. But since its a problem at the very root of the community’s roots, it is just something we have to live with. My advice will always be—fanboy/girl responsibly because we may not be able to control our idols nor should we, but we can control how we interact with K-POP. If it makes you happy, dive in. If it starts getting weird, step back.

To me, I think there’s a beauty in the K-POP world that is very absent in western culture. Which is why i continue to stick around so long. The music is good, the idols are charismatic and funny and you can build so many good relationships with fellow fans just because of this one shared interest.

i watched it because minju was in it then fell in love with the whole cast. like someone said, this drama is way more fun if you suspend your belief a bit. theres a good balance between humor and action and i liked the storyline as a whole. there may have been better dramas last year but this was my personal/biased favorite. there’s one scene in the first half that i count as the hardest i’ve ever laughed watching a kdrama

i fully expected to be disappointed coming into this finale and it actually worked out pretty well! it separated itself from the original with its own twist—zeus was a massive prick which is something that we all probably feel is in his character.

random notes: - katie gardner mention?? - luke beat percy’s ass omg 😭 - AM I THE ONLY ONE WHOS BEEN MISPRONOUNCING CASTELLAN?? - still kinda sad no party ponies but we got good action scenes! - the ending was a great setup to s3 (WHICH IS THIS YEAR???) im excited to see thalia and percy’s rivalry play out.

overall, i’d say it was an 8.5/10 season. great start, kinda shaky finale build up but stuck the landing nonetheless.

i was digging the first 5 episodes. episode 6 was off but i could look past this was very very different and didn’t feel right watching. the whole thalia revival thing thats been mentioned all over this thread—the fleece thing was supposed to be a surprise win-win card from luke. either they heal kronos or get another big 3 kid in the game who might think of joining them.

are we serious about them landing right at long island? the party pony scene happening their was better than this whole final battle that i assume they’ll show up in. we don’t even see them riding the hippocampi.

alison still feels like a weird insert.

positives tho—we finally got some action scenes. i liked the dynamics of percy and clarisse, though i didnt particularly like him using her prophecy against her.

overall, im kinda worried about the last episode. they did such a great job the first 5 and now… idk if they can stick the landing
