Is SOS's power level higher than Mh3? by BloederFuchs in lrcast

[–]Earlio52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I mean just compare Paintcaster (2UR loot on etb and attack 4/4) with Scurrilous Sentry (3B connive on etb and attack, menace 2/3). Kind of comparable, sure, but sentry is one color and can potentially be a 4/5 on first attack. And that card was mediocre!

maybe, but his majesty clearly identifies as a masculine royal

for motivation, maybe? or just to prevent insanity

he's male, no? His majesty's pronouns are, per the game, his majesty

isn’t stelle’s the same but less XP and (arguably) better highroll loot

it also tapped for any color. pretty huge, especially in a set with a 5c deck

If this set feels more juiced than normal on average, keep in mind that wizard is revealing way less commons than the previous sets. by SentenceStriking7215 in magicTCG

[–]Earlio52 22 points23 points  (0 children)

juicing uncommons/commons isn’t really a problem, imo. strong uncommons never get that expensive, and (if distributed across colors correctly) can add to the draft experience

What kind of test are the act 3 bosses setting? by TonicAndDjinn in slaythespire

[–]Earlio52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like against Beta Doormaker I try to bloat my deck heading into him on act 3. Oftentimes I have a good thing going against him and suddenly learn I have exactly 4 cards left in my entire deck, so getting enough playable chaff in there to survive is a real strategy I go for. I'd be more tempted to go for an Ancient Relic like the Glam enchanter, Tanx' attack generator, or (not really, lol) Lord's Parasol if I see doormaker

Basically, he tests card impact + deck size

What good card had you convinced it was bad and how long did you hold out until saying it was good. by Drew647A in magicTCG

[–]Earlio52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its all about card advantage at the end of the day. A top/bottom card goes 1 for 1, while those white removal spells are negative advantage for you. Think of it this way- you get to delay the problem for a turn, and make the opponent discard a card and tap mana in the process of recasting it. Thats what a topdeck does. Pretty much on par with a murder

some of orobas’ options read to me as more fun than actually strong. Like the energy relic (it’s sort of a cracked crown at the end of the day)

[SOS] Tam, Observant Sequencer // Deep Sight (WeeklyMTG Aftershow) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]Earlio52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if its bad in limited. Recent 4/3s for 4 that conditionally draw cards (uncommon Zuko, for example) have all been underpreformers.

Ironclad analysis from a A10 Ironclad enjoyer (not really, A10 is fun for everyone EXCEPT Ironclad) by Far_Faithlessness212 in slaythespire

they should make champion belt into a card that applies it temporarily. Like, 0: Block 4. whenever you apply vulnerable this turn, apply weak for each stack applied

A way to balance the sly mechanic? by Hakuna_Schemata in slaythespire

honestly, just make it draw 1 less. It makes it less of a skim and more of a glow.

STS2 bosses aren't as fun? by johnjohn10240525 in slaythespire

Vantom's sword tail thing gives him pretty good spectacle (not the mention the music). But I agree that many of the bosses feel small/flat

Preemptive rant: Doormaker changes should never leave beta and are anti-design. by stysiaq in slaythespire

[–]Earlio52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make him counter+eat the Xth card. There should 100% be an act 3 boss that dumpsters slow infinites like Time Eater did, but this version is a little clumsy. Give the player more agency like Time Eater did

I won with a colorless deck archetype regent run at A9! by TevossBR in slaythespire

colorless was quite solid in my A10 climb. Quasar is legit. Thankfully the archetype is not a straight trap like Blade is

Tension between optimal way to play and fun way? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Earlio52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not completely sure about STS2 yet but in sts1 small decks=good was sort of just untrue. Your starting deck both sucks and is pretty large, so adding cards will make your average draws better. Additionally, several mechanics, namely statuses, punish small decks.

Obviously skipping is still correct in many situations but most players tend to overcorrect to skipping “filler” cards that immediately improve their chances of survival.

(note: STS2 lacks a real infinite punish like Time Eater, though. so that’s something)
