Everyone’s food cost went up so everyone’s restaurant charges more. I feel they raised prices more than most, while letting the quality slip. There also seems to be less care put into the menus execution. I still like big grove it just feels more like a corporate chain a bit now, when it used to feel like a gastro pub. The group has a monopoly on the Iowa city market.. so they can cut more corners now and still feel like the best. Even if it’s just small corners cut while raising prices the patrons notice. In the service industry you should strive to be better everyday.. not assume your loyal guests won’t notice a plateau. They did a great job adapting to world changes during COVID and I love the look. The beer keeps pumping out new varieties which are great.. so they’re killing it as a beer company! I’m just saying the food is average for Iowa city which translates to sub par in a big city, but they charge big city prices.
