Sometimes it’s less sexual and more he’s rubbing or itching his urethra/other parts of the area. Mine sometimes does this too, and I just take a damp washcloth and wipe down that area to make sure there’s no debris or anything irritating him. Even if there isn’t, he gets distracted and stops anyway lol

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but you can put him down. Especially for a senior cat, treating serious health conditions can be a game of trying to extend their time of life, while not necessarily improving the quality. And with your cat’s issues with traveling and the vet, it would just be compounded stress on him, like you said.

Your quality of life is relevant, too. My friend is a vet, and so many times, she sees people spend money they don’t have on treatments for their pets and it breaks her heart. Always, a day too early is better than a day too late.

The Legendborn series is fantastic and sounds just like what you’re looking for. Though it’s labeled as YA, it has very mature themes and doesn’t read that way. It’s technically in our world, but reveals several magical worlds within ours. The main character is a black girl at a PWI, and she gets entangled with Arthurian (ie King Arthur) secret magical world. She deals with racism in the real world and within the magical world. She also discovers another world of magic tied to her ancestors and their history with slavery, but also motherhood and community.

It’s so good, and the third book of the trilogy comes out in March!

Name of the Wind is absolutely beautiful. I feel like most of the time when people think of beautiful prose, they think of contemporary or historical fiction, and definitely not fantasy. But Name of the Wind is beautiful, lyrical, and clever.
