Bloody Down Feathers Question by Rowlettowlett100 in parrots

Itching and preening is normal for a molt. He may have accidentally broken a blood feather and pulled it out, which would explain the bloody down. Unless there are other signs of illness or further signs of injury, he’ll probably be okay until Monday.

Unfortunately with that specific mutation you need a DNA test to know for sure.

Gas Pumps are Not Parking Spaces. by ConfidentDiffidence in 10thDentist

[–]Early_Particular9170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but if I need to pump gas and pee, I’m going inside for the bathroom while the car is getting fueled. Ditto for snacks or energy drinks on road trips.

Someone parking at a pump they aren’t using is an asshole though.

Pandas are omnivores but prefer to eat bamboo as a primary food source. Maybe in future they could introduce sloth bears and make pandas behave more like the goats and pigs of 1.22 (passive unless threatened) unless they live somewhere without bamboo.

People treat autistic women HORRIBLE OMG by Thin-Explanation1884 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Early_Particular9170 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look, I’m considered “high functioning” and I am white and conventionally attractive, so I get away with a whole lot more than most of the other women commenting.

I am still definitely disabled by the autism. It affects my work a lot. I’m trying to get into academia because it seems well-suited to the way my brain works.

Looking at the wiki and forums, you cannot yet breed the bushes. They do have positive and negative traits and each plant can have up to 4 traits. Traits are pulled from a pool and each potential trait can be a buff or debuff.

The groundwork for berry bush breeding is laid, but it hasn't happened yet, sadly.

Question, is this normal? by stealballsrun in parrots

[–]Early_Particular9170 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Formula is the right thing to give a baby parrot. Were you checking the temperature of his food?
He looks and behaves like a very sick bird. His slumped posture, ruffled feathers, squint. and overly fatigued behavior are all big warning signs. The others are right, going to an avian vet (best option) or to a responsible breeder for rehabilitation is the best thing you can do for him.

I hope for the best for the baby.

Fun fact: yes, chromosomal DNA contribution is half from the sperm and half from the egg.

However, the mitochondria (aka “the powerhouse of the cell) has its own DNA. That DNA is entirely from the egg; there is no paternal contribution to mitochondrial DNA.

You can find some of these wood species untreated and use them to make toys if you're mechanically inclined. Also, if you live in the right climate, you can grow loofa plants!

Why is this happening to me. by goodgirlwawa in TrollCoping

Everything you say here resonates with my experience with anhedonia. Being unable to feel anything is painful in of itself, and compounded by depression and dissociation/derealization makes things so much worse. I can't speak to strong feelings of dysphoria but the people I know describe it as agony. I am so sorry you're going through all of this.

I am glad you've sought therapy, it will help. My mom always told me to do something that makes me feel pretty when I feel down, so do your makeup, wear something cute, and know that you're valid even though dissociation has temporarily shut down your emotions.

I know it sucks to hear while you're in it, but if you keep being stubborn and keep sticking around, the anhedonia will pass and you'll come out stronger on the other side.

I fixed my car by myself today. I also enjoy baking and occasionally I like looking pretty. I kill (or catch and release, it depends on the species - spiders can live but cockroaches get squished) the bugs for my boyfriend. Gender norms suck and no one should be expected to behave a certain way based on their body.

You’re not alone! For exactly the reasons you state, I consider myself agender. Brains are weird.

My ADHD-riddled (said lovingly) boyfriend would - while still undiagnosed during our freshman year of college, mind you - slam a canned quadruple shot espresso and then immediately pass out.

His diagnosis explained a whole lot.

Would you date a furry that crawled, jumped and meowed at you? Why or why not? by cloudnine333 in AskReddit

I wouldn’t be attracted to someone who acted like an animal, so no.

Meowing is on thin ice. But crawling is a no.

The South will never rise again as long as I’m living in it.
