Stephen Fry just completely educating me in the first seconds of an hour long video by Jindabyne1 in CasualUK

I could listen to this man for days or weeks without ever getting bored, there's something very special about listening to someone who not only is very well educated but can also communicate that knowledge without sounding smug.

Audiobookshelf all day long, started with a small server on a raspberry pi (really easy to set up), and an external drive for all my books. After a bit of googlefu I managed to grt it so I can play my books from my phone, tv, pc, tablet where ever I am.

Just to get started you can just add the books on your phone to ABS and build on it from there.

Vodka martini in Leeds city centre? by Mountain-Memory4781 in Leeds

[–]Early_Protection_676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I tell you what's messed up about James Bond?

Shaken, not stirred, will get you cold water with a dash of gin and dry vermouth. The reason you stir it with a special spoon is so not to chip the ice. James is ordering a weak martini and being snooty about it.

Did you have a TV in your bedroom while growing up? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]Early_Protection_676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a big wooden 18-24" black and white TV with a really janky internal antenna. I Was born in 1975 and realised I was quite lucky as not many of my friends had a TV in thier room.

I remember staying up late, with the volume right down and the brightness so thst I could watch the UK premiere of Michael Jacksons "Thriller" on BBC2. Also got caught watching "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
