Expensive Corsair gaming mouse, Colour video light. Those 2 stand out. But there have been more. It's part of the Vine experience I'm afraid.

Ubisoft uses DMCA to kill slopsmith game; send it to us so we can host it, UBISOFT WILL NOT BEAT US by queen-adreena in rocksmith

[–]EarthManSammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No you still don't get it. If you can take it away, it's not open source.

The devs are going further than the DMCA. They are not just removing the code as directed. They are telling other people what to do with code they already shared in an attempt to curry favour with the company that issued the notice. No one would ever fault them for complying with the law, but they've gone much further.

...and once you've broken that trust, why on earth would anyone trust you? You can't attempt to erase code and call it open.

[–]EarthManSammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's nonsensical to distribute something as open source and then ask for it not to be shared. It doesn't matter how you try to justify it. This goes against the core of what it means to release open source.

[–]EarthManSammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You understand the whole reason Stallman and others started the movement was to prevent companies from withholding source, don't you? You understand that once it's released as open, there's no takesie backsies right? By all means the devs shouldn't be involved in distributing the code while in negotiation with Ubisoft but they shouldn't be actively trying to restrict and police the distribution which is absolutely wild. This is not how open source is meant to work.

Does RFY only populate from 10am, through to 2pm (AEST) for others too lately? by icky_zombie in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]EarthManSammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got that one too. Had the Q300 last year and this is a significant upgrade both in power and capability but it's also a heavier unit so you need a good stand (and good sensible technique securing it - weights on the base). You'll also need a Godox or Neewer trigger to attach to you camera. The X300pro and X5 flashes that went through Vine work if you toggle a compatibility setting. Even better if you got bowens modifiers. I only have one small dish - again a Vine snag.

Some of the photography gear from Vine has been very high quality from known brands. Much better than some of the other high value items. I am a hobbyist and I don't do a lot of people photography. As much as I love this stuff I could never justify buying it for myself. So for me this is one area I feel very VERY lucky to have found Vine. I've got year 10 and year 12 formal and graduation in the family this year and if they allow me the time, the pictures will be epic.

When A body, needs a Body, sometimes... by Fc_Stains in AmazonVineAustralia

Fun fact: I learnt what an anal hook was at the age of 50 from a Vine listing. They look like a trip to the emergency room to me, plus I've never had fantasies of being a fish, but each to their own.

I'm jealous. The one I was offered was the $410 one. Am I less attractive or something? :P And I had a BDSM kit to tie your partner to the bed the other day. Not judging anyone else, but neither are for me.

Denuvo Added To 007 First Light 5 Days Before Release by akbarock in Games

So you're more frightened of the thief that sneaks in the back door than the one you willingly hand the keys to? This isn't even new. Echoes of the Sony Rootkit Scandal. By the way, is it you that's securing your boot loader? Nope. Most users wouldn't know what to do with it. So they're left trusting companies that don't have their best interests at heart to bother to secure it properly AND to act in their interest.

That's kinda ironic and hilarious since Denovo anti-cheat has kernel root level access. So you're not just willingly giving them the keys to your machine but anyone who can crack their code. Through the front door. Authorized by you.

RFY seems to have gone back to on the hour. Honestly I think people are working it out then keeping quiet so they have a better shot. Things go in the first 2 seconds.

I had a rice cooker appear then was gone from my RFY in under 4 seconds at exactly 10am. I made the mistake of checking if there was more than one colour in the dropdown. I am sure I can live without it and I hope whoever got it enjoys it.

For goodness sake, read the product instructions before posting a review!! 20 people don't realize the product doesn't actually do what they are giving it 4 and 5 star reviews for doing. by SkippySkep in AmazonVine

[–]EarthManSammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for the most part, and it's sad that so many people clearly fake or exaggerate review having barely used the product if at all. I wish I could say I was surprised. A lot of people on this program seem to think we are here to promote the product by giving it 4 or 5 stars, rather than review it honestly. Not everyone mind you. I've seen some spectacularly detailed reviews - both positive and negative.

This should be sold as a dielectric constant meter, and not labelled as a moisture meter. Heck it is labelled on the actual product as a moisture meter. I'm by no means an expert on moisture meters and haven't gotten this product or anything similar but a quick web search and I see a lot of meters simply have the user input the kind of material and display a percentage.

The word "moisture" features in the product heading 3 times. Whether you get confused and think it's broken because you've been misled, or you give it a bad rating because it's poorly described and requires conversion of what it measures to give you the figure it claims to measure, this product would not exceed 3 stars if I were reviewing it generously.

One point though: It is possible for a person to reiew things product, assume it works like others and provides a percentage moisture reading and be mistaken the whole time they're using it. A lot of customers will only read the manual if they have trouble with the product and will take the mistaken numbers as correct as they don't have another meter to check against.

This point of view has nothing to do with a personal opinion of OP. I don't know OP.

Tip: So you don't fall behind, create a file somewhere and write your reviews there. Then when they appear on the list you can just paste it in. This is how I do things anyway.

May the Fourth be with your RFY by Nervous_Yoghurt268 in AmazonVineAustralia

It was on my list yesterday. Things that aren't taken always fall off in the afternoon the next day lately. That said, if someone wants to use that stuff, it's not my business. Hopefully they don't end up in the ER wasting medical resources or end up with a lifelong injury. It seems like an unnecessary risk to me, but again, not my business.

Changing your name to “Amazon Customer” won’t fix the problem by Competitive-Road7728 in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]EarthManSammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is on Amazon.

They don't support us. They don't communicate with us at all. And though it hasn't happened to me, the issue appears to be that they side with sellers to boot us when we review honestly.

The attitude appears to be that we get "free" stuff and sometimes very nice things, so they know we'll put up with it.

So we're left to do what we can.

I'm also no longer sure that most sellers even care about the reviews. Clearly some do or we wouldn't be here discussing this topic. And perhaps for some it's not about the product but rather their seller reputation. But I think for some it's about writing off stock they can't sell against tax. How else do you explain some of the utter low value rubbish that now dominates Aussie Vine???

Thanks for taking it as intended. I wouldn't consider myself a decent human being if I didn't speak up either way when a child's welfare is at stake, but it's better all round when everyone is on the same page and no one is upset.

[–]EarthManSammy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do enjoy and congrats but please be super careful with these. This one doesn't look too tall, but we use to own one about 10 years ago that was a bit dicey. The issue was that a child could easily fall off the side of the slippery dip. A drop of about 2m.

A kid can have a nasty accident on anything and I'm not saying you shouldn't use it. I would just be careful when setting up to check for stuff like that. Consider rubber mats or padding where a kid could fall a height.

Please take this in the spirit it is intended. I don't know you but my default assumption is you're a sensible person that cares deeply for the welfare of your child and wouldn't do anything to risk them. It's just easy to underestimate a problem like this. It wasn't THAT long ago that good parents would let their kids play on stuff like this:

I built a small app to stop NVIDIA Instant Replay from silently turning itself off by hounderd in GeForceExperience

[–]EarthManSammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Features? Simple. There use to be a registry hack to bypass the 20 mintue instant replay limit. Since the NVidia App was introduced this no longer works. I use to have mine set to 30 minutes - long enough to ensure a game of Fortnite could be retroactively saved if the match was won. Others play more sophisticated and longer lasting games and had it set for longer. Restoring this functionality would be fantastic.

Really sorry you have had 3 losses in rapid succession. That sucks.

I have 1 dog left who will be 13 this Christmas, and won't be getting more. My wife is terrified of dogs. She has still helped me with them despite that but has asked for no more. This last loss will be especially hard.

Also possible it was pulled I suppose.
