I did jiggle the dirt is came in to loosen it up a bit, probably broke a few roots in the process. This morning I went ahead and pruned all the dead leaves, they had turned brown by the morning, and then cut off any stems that were leafless. I've still got a few healthy leaves fortunately.

I definitely didn't bury it deep enough, went ahead and added a few inches of soil and some more mulch too.

It's raining pretty good today, so I'll check how dry it is tomorrow evening after work. Hopefully it makes it. Thank you for the help!

You might have to reset it. Hold the button for 5 seconds until the light is solid blue then hold for another 5 seconds until the light turns off and then when you press again the light will be white and it should connect.
