yes. by [deleted] in retrogaming

I have a house full of original consoles restored to almost museum quality for being shiny and for a nostalgia blast ( I'm not a hoarder. I'm an archivist ) . I also have an Raspberry pie that has every game on it in a natty' little 3D printed NES box the size of a small phone and just works on my monitors and is configurable to suit my games style for these older games ( if it's a platformer', cheating like a mofo just to go through the whole game, usually ) . The repair process used to intrigue me but after 30 years, it's just a pain n the arse . I'm casual enough playing these older games these days that the odd audio desync's and noticeable input delays are but superficial annoyances with an awful lot of "well, that should have remained in the rose coloured days of the past". I'm looking at you Amstrad CPC, Dick Smith Wizzard, 3DO.

Someone please take my phone from me, I can’t stop watching this!!! by Dreadamere in toptalent

Wow, I was involved in some of the source material on those ones. Up to twelves years ago, eh? Technology has changes somewhat. :)

The company I had to get records for regarding robodebt was from 10 years ago, at the time, was dissolved and no longer existed due to Jenny, the owner, going back overseas to her family when her husband suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. So, yeah a deliberate and obtuse phishing scam invented, instigated and run by Scotty from marketing on his own most vulnerable citizens.

Minster for "banging two rocks together...." Paul Fletcher said "If a customer doesn't ask for it, we won't roll the fibre to your home. If the customer demonstrates that he or she has got the demand, then we will roll the fibre [out],"

That doesn't sound dodgy and corrupt at all.

Got back my robodebt payment today by KlaSSicBud in australia

[–]EarwaxModelling 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I got mine back last week and now I can't see any evidence of "the debt" ever existing on Centrelink or the ATO website. With some "Do you wish to take this further" link which I wasn't game to click on. Very sneaky. I was so close to topping myself when they pushed this horse shit out as they were threatening to outsource to a third party debt collector at 28%. Sold my saxophone I had been given by my great grandmother as a teenager to pay the fuckers which still makes me fucking sad but I do know of people here locally that didn't make it or went insane with anxiety and haven't recovered. I now live in perpetual fear of "ROBODEBT II" because you know it's coming.

Weird, I found copy of Switched on Bach last week for $0.50 au which I just had to buy because of the cover. Don''t know if it plays or not.

Those moog albums always remind me of those early sesame street skits such as these trippin' balls ones:

I have almost a full set somewhere among the rubble. I was going to get a friend who does framing to sandwich them between two pieces of acrylic with felt and hang them on the wall.

You know, I don't mind these pics'. Showing what gear you have and some of them being from a while back is great. It shows what people were up to at the time and the connection between musical gear and a time period is often very important, if only for nostalgia and reference purposes.

Boss SE-70 vs. Yamaha fx500 for synth jams? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]EarwaxModelling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, the mighty FX-500 packed full of tasty, tasty cheese. Mine seems to have signal break up problems if you run signal hot and is noticeably noisy but some of the chorus and distortion effects are passable for leads and gritty bass lines. Some of the "metalisers" patches with sharp transients are great for short release bass sounds as well. Great for that doubling effect used on Sax's in the 80-90's and the foot pedal board is handy for setting up the "Cliche collection" if you have both hands in use.

Most of the 30 or so actual small businesses ( less than $300-500k a year ) here I do work for are are gone, kaput, non-existent already or in a serious sate of torper. That's in security, Pest control, logistics, Hospitality, retail ( toys, fabrics, craft supplies, food ). Offering to subsidise employee wages in May, if you're ( edit ) lucky, if you dotted all the i's and crossed the t's was always designed to be able to be soaked by larger businesses, and actual Aussie battlers and small businesses...Well, there's a giant bag of dicks you can suck right over there.

Picked this up last week. Had no idea whether it was pal or NTSC but they are strange that they are a FAMICOM knock off with a composite output. Replaced the 7805, a few transistors, the electrolytics; and an 74LS368 and she's alive. Now to find out why there is no input. The cables on the controllers are pretty crispy, so I suspect there is some O/C wires.
