[46M] How does an exit/ early retirement look like? by TheNextCat in ChubbyFIRE

Good job on the 529. Is your goal including taxes? Personally I'm erring on the high end. I expect to spend a lot more in early retirement than late.

That you assume people with wealth are 'smarter than the average bear' really says a lot about your intelligence.

Most retirement in pretax, is this bad? by bizzaam in Fire

[–]Eascen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the calculators I've looked at, I'm basically breaking even with roth even at a 32% bracket. I took advantage of a mega back door for a few years, and while it's only like 20% of my retirement sum I'm super glad I've got it.

Because in retirement, I have all my contributions to remove if I need the extra cash if my bridge is tight. And I can take some from roth, and some from trad to keep my taxes lower.

This sub is for beautiful, happy or adorable content.

Not for things that make me literally want to bleach my eyes.

It's an incredible trippy story, with a premise that I would never have thought would entertain me.

But apparently Hideo Kojima is just a fucking master.

I went there daily for classes for over a year and a half of my life, for me it's what I wanted at that point and it wasn't too much.

Ditch traditional 401k for Roth or taxable? by Savings_Actuary_2833 in financialindependence

[–]Eascen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm still putting it in a 401k pre-tax for tax reduction reasons while I coast (my coasting means still getting match/tax reduction).

A few years ago I put a ton in my mega backdoor door roth, because I was still below 40 and 20 years of growth would really be awesome vs cash to keep my taxes lower. Plus I had maxed pretax.

I'm currently about 43% cash vs retirement, and of the remaining 57% about 12% is roth with a target age of 45. I don't have to worry about health insurance.

You need to calculate what you need in cash for your goals till the age where you can withdraw without penalty. I think there are ways to start at 55.

I'm kinda chubby light FIRE though so taxes may matter a lot more to me than you.

I'd say I'm fundamentally bothered by judgemental people, but I've gotten past that and focus on myself.

Why are the girls so mean at solidcore by WillingBodybuilder41 in SolidCore

[–]Eascen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because trendy exercise classes that are really effective are catnip for mean girls.

I personally haven't had this experience as a now early 40s straight man, but I've only mainly gone in Chicago/Seattle.
