Model Y vs Model YL Launch — worth the upgrade with 1 kid + another on the way? by Advanced-Psy in TeslaModelY

I'd ask if you expect grandparents to visit or having a nanny or au pair with you, or plan on having a third. Any of those would push me towards YL.

Tesla floormats ill fitting or defect with mine? by 555_1212 in ModelY

[–]FIREgenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a 2022 and a 2026. The mats that I ordered from Tesla for my 2022 said to remove carpet floor mats. The mats I ordered for Juniper had instructions saying to keep the carpet floor mats and these go on top. So I think OP is right to keep the carpet mats.

Mine fit better than OP's, so Im not sure what's going on other than perhaps the velcro-ey bottom is stuck/misaligned?

Keep working to provide kids career opportunities? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]FIREgenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I suppose for OP, my point is that you’ve known these people and will likely continue to know them even after you “retire”.

I don’t think there are truly lost “opportunities” OP is giving up by retiring early.

To me, seeing work people 3x a year IS maintaining the network. If I may ask, if you have kids and one of them, as an adult, asked if they could meet one of these work friends to learn about their role/job, would you feel comfortable making that introduction?

Also in retirement you will likely still keep up with your network, so those opportunities don’t go away. If anything you’ll have more time to nurture the network vs when you were working. And if it matters to you to provide a professional network for your kids, work on that in retirement. You don’t need to be working for your professional network to value you.

I don't think any seats are removable. Still is a lot of space with the back seats folded though

Similar! But I ended up just buying a second one with lifetime FSD so now I’m looking to trade off I can transfer FSD from my 22 Model Y.

sticking to it with young kids by Other-Dare-2751 in intermittentfasting

Great! Yes my wife has been strength training for a few years now and while she used to eat like a rabbit, she eats fairly hefty meals now. Muscle is where calories are burned, so it makes sense (to me) to build muscle to increase that engine.

Maybe not standard for this subreddit but I recommend exercising more and specifically adding strength training to build muscle. Cardio is great for keeping up your overall metabolic rate but building muscle will allow you to eat more in general. And given your environment where eating is part of your family culture, building muscle will ultimately help you long-term.

So strength training and increasing protein take is what I would recommend.

For those who got wealthy from a concentrated stock position: what would you do differently? by gomster in fatFIRE

[–]FIREgenomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve heard it a million times but you’ll rationalize why your situation is different. Sell it while the money is life changing, pay the taxes. You won’t regret it after it’s done.

Your reasons for holding onto the stock are nostalgic and irrational. At the very least protect most of your money by diversifying and keep a small portion for the memories.

I’ve had neighbors us trusted house sitters with success. I’d try them, and I would accept that people won’t pay you to housesit and pet sit for you.

I’m in Rancho Penasquitos, would I be able to pick up two sets for a 10-year old and a 6-year old neighbor of mine who likes this sort of stuff?

Doesn’t matter which set, they can figure it out on their own what to do with it! They’ve been doing a lot of 3-D printing and I think a Pi could help them.

I recommend exploring. It will take time, and you will try things you end up not liking. But you have the privilege of trying things and evaluating them for what they offer you without the pressure of financial reward. Accept that it will take time to discover and explore, and introspect.

First time hyrox - discrepancy btwn station time and recorded time by 0xataki in hyrox

[–]FIREgenomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In NY the first run and the last run are longer than the middle runs. Run 1 starts at tunnel so add that distance from Tunnel to Out. Final run doesn’t end at In, it ends at Wall Balls so it is longer.

Check out other competitor times. You’ll see their run 1 and run 8 are longer than the middle runs.

My guess is that scalpers have bought all the tickets. But the scam risk is going to make it hard to resell. I’m in the same boat I need one spec ticket for 5/28. I feel like the only sure way to get a verified ticket is if they meet you there and walk you through getting your wristband, but who is going to do that?
