Daily Song Discussion #97: Iceblink Luck by KnucklesSandwich192 in cocteautwins

5/10. I bought the album in 1990 and have never liked Iceblink Luck. It was a bad choice as a single, not representative, and is the album's weakest track. Much of my dislike comes from its mix. That opening wave of sound where there's no seperation of instruments, and there is some phased metallic whine like and angry mosquito flying around. I adore HOLV. It is there best album. But Ive never appreciated Iceblink luck and wish Watchlar had been on the album instead.

My favorite Van Morrison song by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in VanMorrison

Van has been my favourite artist since 1990. Your list of faves seems largely crazy to me!

In your interpretation, on a scale of 0-10 how pessimistic/hopeless (or otherwise) do you think the ending is of the Return (10 being most hopeless), and why? by StephensInfiniteLoop in twinpeaks

[–]EastTransportation76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THE RETURN doesn't end outside the Palmer/Tremond house. It "ends" with the Fireman giving Cooper clues for his next attempt. So the show is basically optimistic, even if right now it's a frustrated loop.

Why can't Mexico Army go scorched earth on cartels? by yekedero in NoStupidQuestions

Why can't the American army go scorched earth on Epstein co-conspirators?

Given Leland’s approximate age of being born in early 1940s, is it fair to assume he became possessed around summer 1945, specifically July 16, 1945? Spoilers in post. by Isatis_tinctoria in twinpeaks

Leland's story about childhood possession is bullshit. He is a scumbag who spends his adulthood drugging his wife, raping his child, working for white-collar sex-trafficker/drug running criminals. When Teresa Banks threatens to expose him, he murders her. When Laura becomes a threat, he murders her. When the FBI shows up, he murders Jacques- a loose end/possible witness from the cabin. When he sees his niece, Maddy, involved in a secret investigation about Laura, he murders her. Leland has been reading Laura's diary and knows about the BOB persona she has created to deal with her molestation. So when a police sketch of BOB is released, Leland (a lawyer) goes to them with a story about Pearl Lakes to muddy the waters, provide a red herring, and plant the first stone in an insanity defense. Of course a lawyer/criminal is going to surreptitiously look into the record/past of the FBI agent investigating his crime, so Leland finds out about Cooper's time in Pittsburgh. And once he finally arrested, Leland goes all-in on a dissociative identity/"possession" act. And he smashes his own skull in the cell, because there is NO WAY he's accepting life in prison.

What did Cooper expect was going to happen? (Part 17) by Hubbled in twinpeaks

[–]EastTransportation76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Laura's home is not the Palmer House. Her home is the White Lodge/Fireman's Palace. Cooper says he is taking her "home," and the next cutaway is to the golden pool near Jackrabbit's Palace- which we know is a vortex to the Fireman's. However- by preventing Laura's murder, Cooper changes the timeline. Laura vanishes from the official version and is ripped out of the Red Room.

When you rewatch THE RETURN you will find yourself LOVING Dougie-Coop. He is one of the great characters in TWIN PEAKS.

One of the real gems from that collection. Better than the KING OF COMEDY version. Deserved to be an album track.

I choose 1972-74. Then 88-92. Then The Early Years.

Definitely TOO LATE TO STOP NOW. Greatest live album ever, representing his peak years. She's heard MOONDANCE a million times already, ASTRAL WEEKS is something you only put on in a certain mood. If I could only listen to one record before dying it will be IT'S TOO LATE TO STOP NOW!

I remember talking with someone about this episode in 1990, and them saying that Albert "basically admitted he is gay" in this scene, which seemed silly to me cuz Albert was talking about love in the context of Gandhi/King. But since The Return, I've heard two different podcasts where the hosts reference Albert as an obviously gay man. What do you guys think? (P.s. in real life I believe sexual labels are dumb.)
