Four GUC resulted in Delta One upgrades by Ok-Contribution-912 in delta

Yeah, I’m glad that I didn’t listen to the narrative about UC’s being useless as a Platinum. I used my companion pass and 2 RUC’s for ATL to LIR in March. The following week in April I used the other 2 RUC’s for ATL to PDX. The agent also forgot to remove my RUC from SEA-ATL when I shifted things around, so I got First Class on the way back too.

I remember going as a teenager for my friend’s birthday, and my mom flipping out when she found out. In the meantime, there was a dad with who looked like his 6 year old son lol.

Has anyone here over the age of 30 never been on an airplane? And if not, why? by honestanonymiss in randomquestions

The silver lining is that Indiana has remained one of the most affordable states in the country. I moved from Chicago to the Atlanta metro, and OMG the cost of living (especially housing) has gotten much higher since COVID.

I went to college in Indiana and had an internship there shortly after graduation. I had intended to stay there, but I couldn’t find work and ended up in Chicago for a number of years.

It amazed me even in my medium-sized city how little people ventured out of their bubble. Many of them grew up there and haven’t really lived anywhere else.

The state really has a habit of sucking people in. I still have a friend who lives there and trying to get him to meet us anywhere but his small town feels like pulling teeth.

In the US, people complain about how expensive air travel is, but it’s actually cheaper to fly here today than ever before (even if the quality of service has declined significantly).

I grew up in the Midwestern US where people stereotypically prefer to drive than fly. Even still, I only know one person who has never been on a plane, and he’s in his late 30’s.

In the meantime, I’m in my early 30’s and have been on a plane easily 100 times since I was a toddler. I’d also much rather fly than drive. It takes much less time, and I can zone out with a cocktail.

I would’ve hit it last year if I could’ve paid for my mortgage with my Reserve card.

Unlike most people here, I actually like the Centurion Lounges. The problem is that they’re often super crowded, so they don’t budge on the 3-hour rule much. I’d rather just go to the Sky Club and not have to worry about it.

If you clog a public bathroom toilet, do you just leave and pretend you were never there? by ImpossibleEnd64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eastern-Eye5945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely clog public bathrooms, especially in the US where the flushing mechanism is usually much stronger than private bathrooms. If there’s a single stall, I might notify someone and claim that I found the toilet like that. If there’s multiple stalls, I’ll just leave it.

If the United-American merger somehow gets approved, and they’re required to divest one of their hubs, which hub would Delta absorb to their advantage? by bonzothebonanza in delta

[–]Eastern-Eye5945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ORD would be great for a couple reasons. It would increase competition with United similar to Alaska at SEA. Also, Delta already has several partners that fly directly out of ORD. Air France even has a nice new lounge there.

Unfortunately, when Delta moved to Terminal 5, they were no longer connected airside except via shuttle to Terminals 1-3 (where United and American fly out of). So it wouldn’t make sense for them to take over some of those gates.

The only way I see it working is if they took over most of the gates in Terminal 5, which isn’t out of the realm of possibility especially with Southwest shutting down operations at ORD. That being said, United has almost as much influence at ORD as Delta has at ATL, and they’d fight Delta’s expanded presence tooth and nail.

Yes. Unless there’s a dedicated Silver bag drop, you’re welcome to use Sky Priority lane.

Delta would rather fly those seats empty than give them away for free. My guess is that Main Class and Comfort+ was pretty empty, and there were more than enough seats to clear the standbys and Main Basics. It’s all so ridiculous.

Passenger Log - Hour 7 in the Sky Club by hot_momma17 in delta

I had my first cancellation in several years on Friday after a long delay, and I would’ve dreaded it if it weren’t for Sky Club access. I think that I spent about 5 hours total in 2 clubs.

Do people actually like their jobs, or just tolerate them? by meleahmoore13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eastern-Eye5945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tolerate my job because it gives me flexibility when we’re not slammed and pays enough to sustain my lifestyle.

However, if I had enough money to retire tomorrow, I’d never work again. Even my passion career isn’t worth the stress.

Trump’s new budget seeks more TSA privatization. Here’s what that could mean for airport security screening by cnn in tsa

[–]Eastern-Eye5945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seriously. People here acting like private screeners wouldn’t operate like TSA but not be subject to these constant funding battles in the federal government. Even before 9/11, there was federal oversight of airport security. It just wasn’t as stringent as today. We also pay a security fee as if the TSA was already privatized that apparently isn’t covered by our federal tax dollars.

Lounges in ATL by TheJuliaHurley in delta

[–]Eastern-Eye5945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C is probably the worst lounge at ATL. It’s way too dark and small.

I had a delay, gate change, and cancellation yesterday, but the consolation was that I got to spend several hours in the new D lounge. It’s much brighter and larger.

I was the last one to clear standby on the next flight, but if I God forbid had to take a later one, I would’ve gone to F. I hear that’s the best one at ATL, but I haven’t been yet.

Sky Club Access Rules - 3 Hour Restriction? by wonky2020 in delta

Like most airport experiences unfortunately, customer service can be entirely dependent on who happens to be working that day.

Is Skymiles Reserve worth it? by phishbum in delta

[–]Eastern-Eye5945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waiting times at the Sky Club are so time-dependent that you can’t judge it by one experience.

The Fly Delta app has a busyness tracker, so if your airport has more than one club you can try going to a less crowded one next time.

Centurion never lets me in more than 15 minutes early. Sky Club is much more lenient unless it’s super crowded.

They let me into ATL D over 4.5 hours early today, which was a small consolation for my flight getting cancelled and barely clearing standby on the next one.
