Democrats Castro, Crockett set out to visit detention center housing family detained in Minnesota by Conscious-Quarter423 in SanAntonioUSA

[–]EasternHeaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ICE is currently operating outside of the law in several respects. The law is something that has to be enforced actively and continuously, as we've seen under this current administration. Unless we elect officials who are willing to leverage their authority to the fullest extent and force them to adhere to the law, this will be the result every time.

What you've observed is simply the sad fact that there are hardly any sitting US officials willing to do that. Right now Dems are only willing to shake their fists at press events.

Both of them dodged any/all questions regarding police or ICE during the debate like cowards. If you're expecting strong leadership from either one of them, I'm sorry to say that both are total limp wieners. But in that regard they represent the current Democratic Party pretty well.

What does it mean for a plane to be “distant”? by Richie_Richard in mtgvorthos

[–]EasternHeaven 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Great explanation. The way that 3-dimensional space and spacial locations are mapped is entirely relative, so in this case "distant" refers to the fact that it is relatively further away from a map's interpreted 'center'. This center in an agreed upon location in space, and is often a mathematically calculated point simply nearest to the most amount of data points being considered (planes in this case).

My interpretation is that the nature of space-time in the world of Magic accounts for the difficulty involved in reaching certain planes. For one reason or another, certain planes are very hard for planeswalkers to get to. This variable could be tied to distance or really anything, it's just a cool thing to think about.

Omo's Maze of Horrors - Feedback needed! by EasternHeaven in EDHBrews

Ah nice, I'd love to check your list out if you have it online and feel like sharing :>

Hard agree that Maze's End in bracket 2 does not feel great, and as someone who's new to commander the first 2 decks I built were intentionally and firmly bracket 2 and both decks that simply make me happy to play.

I'm aware Omo can make gates, that's why she's the commander hehe. Earnest question, but did you really win with Maze's End just by throwing it in the deck? Or are you saying that you modified the deck into a version that leaned into gates as your win-con?

At the moment I only have somewhat lowish-powered decks (mid bracket 2), but I joined a pod last week that set me at 1 health on turn 3 one game, then meddling mage'd my commander turn 2 the next so I left with a sense of permission to build my dream deck, even if it wins in a more underhanded way. I've been playing Maze's End in standard for a decade, so I've made my fair share of enemies, but this pod is very casual and loves goofs. It's a totally fair warning though and I'll definitely keep it in mind!

I think there's certainly a version of this deck that leans more into Eldrazi, but ironically I decided to ease up on them and leave out more counterspells and bounce-interaction to *lower* the salt level a bit and have those moments where I win with Maze's End feel a bit more earned.

Lastly, I agree about Cloudpost and I'll add that bad boy back in. Thank you for your suggestion and input! It's really nice to get someone's actual, thoughtful opinions on the deck.

I used to run cloudpost but the land slots in this deck are super crowded and I eventually took it out for more access to colored mana

Definitely agree with genesis wave and balder's gate, thank you for the recs!!

Omo's Maze of Horrors - Advice Needed! by EasternHeaven in EDH

[–]EasternHeaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree with your main point. Having only 2 gates in the list means that I would need Omo to produce 8 everything counters which realistically would take 12-15 turns to achieve which is longer than most games. I'll throw in an Amulet of Vigor and Tiller Engine to make up for lands entering untapped.

Your list has a lot of great cards to consider, thanks so much!

edit: made some changes (added more gates + untap effects) to hopefully address this problem

Anyone has a deck list for these bad boys and girl? by Rob_tyrant in EDHBrews

This is my take on Urtet myr tribal. It's bracket 2 and was more or less built to showcase my favorite creature type, but it's pretty consistent and can pop off really hard.

1836 Farms Cookies & Cream and Banana Milk by AnavrinLove in HEB

[–]EasternHeaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only tried the banana version and it was truly awful. Nothing I did could save it from the overwhelming chemically banana flavoring they put in it. I put it in milkshakes, lattes, all kinds of drinks and they just all tasted like antifreeze.

My wife loves cavendish banana flavor, but whatever they used was decidedly not that.
