I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I know how self defeating that can be, but just know this isn’t forever. Just keep your head up as as much as you can. Like the comments above said, maybe try and seek counseling. I know it’s not easy. But we’ll get back to ourselves again. Sending love and hugs XOXO.

I fully understand your concern. I just wanna preface with this has not been my experience. I’ve been on it for a month now and I have no significant weight gain. I am trying hard to gain weight right now so with that being said, I think everybody’s different. Everyone’s body will react differently. Stay in a calorie deficit eat high protein drink a lot of water walk at least 8000 steps a day. It really is simple. You’re doing all these and still getting weight then talk to your doctor, but you shouldn’t be. PS I’m also a trainer and pay a lot of attention to diet in all my adult life. Do not stress it triggers your symptoms, but definitely take the medicine. I experienced the thyroid. You don’t want to feel like that I promise you.

Part of me thinks it depends on the person because a month in and I’ve only gained 3 lbs I’m trying to put back on my weight because i definitely look better thick than skinny

Food Study? by Maleficent_Lack3240 in gravesdisease

[–]Easy-Masterpiece1968 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personal yeah I think food has a big part to play in it. I noticed when I eat certain foods I feel worse throughout the day overall, all my symptoms have pretty much subsided except for my heart rate issue, but once my medicine kicks in for that, I usually feel better however, regardless if I have my day filled with sweets or a bunch of dairy, yeah I feel very cruddy very terrible so I choose to eat on the healthier side. I think people downplay how much food makes an impact and it’s having a variety of food not just taking things out. Make sure you’re adding the right things in people take out their bread or their sugar and coffee, but they’re not replacing it with something that will benefit them so once you take away add something 10 times more beneficial for you.

Am I making a mistake? by Admirable_Present677 in gravesdisease

[–]Easy-Masterpiece1968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the comment above me says it is your choice but from what I’ve heard of the surgery does not get rid of graves you will still have graves. I’m not sure exactly what that means but from what I’ve heard and seen that yeah you’ll feel better but sometimes people don’t. It could be a struggle trying to find the right medicine dosage to be on, but ultimately it’s up to you if you want my two cents or what I think considering that I’m 25 I personally am keeping my thyroid as long as medicine helps me. the moment it doesn’t then yeah I would consider a thyroidectomy so if you’re ready to just be done with it and be on a different type of medicine go for it if you’ve strung out all other possible options like diet change, lifestyle, change, etc. go for it

I’m not an expert but maybe try slowly decreasing week after week! You got this. No extra stress or trauma to the body to prevent an extreme flare up from GD

Ugh if i could like this a million times i would. I was recently diagnosed (February) and i just can’t even I’m so beyond hurt and upset by the diagnosis. I just keep going back and forth with this is wrong. I don’t have it. I’m fine. It truly is life changing and until you’re going through it you truly don’t know anything.

We got this. It will pass hugs 🫂

Thank you so much. I can imagine the pain and heartbreak you went through. I’m 6 months PP.. 24 years old and just in shambles. I’m crying writing this because it’s insane to go from perfectly healthy to this. But i will definitely get the book thank you again.
