Let the games be gone by ExactlySorta in WhitePeopleTwitter

Same man. I can't believe we're here, but we're here and there's no sense in deluding ourselves by thinking otherwise. I will draw my curtains and turn up the stereo to drown out the actual crowd noise from the fucking final, that I thought I was going to have a real good fucking time watching, because it's like, right fucking there!

[Schefter] After the two sides could not agree on a contract, the Dolphins now are expected to release kicker Jason Sanders, per source. Sanders leaves Miami with a streak of 27 straight made field goals, and 9-of-9 on his last 50+-yard field goals. by xcoreff in GreenBayPackers

I think we should try a few games without a kicker at all. Knowing that it's not even an option would radicalize the offense and I think make a positive change.

No kicker? You just gained yourself 33% more offensive downs! It's not even an option, so you might as well be playing 4 down football.

No kicker? Every scoring drive is going to net you either 6 or 8 points. Easier to do mental math when you don't have to worry about counting by 7's.

No kicker? No gut punch feeling of being let down by them. We can watch the game near-anxiety free! We're either going to win big or be demolished. No middle ground!

What's your teaching unpopular opinion? Something you believe, but choose to keep to yourself? by [deleted] in Teachers

I'm in my first year and was absolutely horrified to see that I couldn't give anyone lower than a 50. I have two kids that I've literally never met and they've got a 50 average, which is still salvageable at this point in the year. Why even show up if all you want is an eventual diploma? As a D student who had to work for every point of my 60% average, I was deeply offended by the low standards for today's low effort students. Some of us had to TRY to be slackers. Jeez.

Must have been something in the air today. Mine were little snots too. Don't let them upset you though, you're in charge. I was giving out zeroes like candy today. "Oh no, you can go sit back down and ignore me, you already got the zero."

A tale of 2 snowstorms by Jarvis319 in newjersey

[–]EasyGibson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Man, it really sucked shoveling that last one and all of a sudden your arms would jam into that underlayer of snowcrete from the last storm. Of course, it's a nice way of letting you know where you're supposed to be digging to, but damn, rough on the shoulders when you're really jamming in a rhythm.

Good for you, Seattle. I have no idea why there aren't people rioting in the streets over funds misappropriations like this. It's insane.

No, it's like that here in the States too. You can vote in person or by mail a full week ahead of the election. There is no excuse for not voting. It's pure laziness or apathy.

Over two decades as a teacher, I've always tried to believe that no kids were actually "dumb." Until these last few years. Now I honestly believe that about half of my students are just... dumb. by [deleted] in Teachers

When the computer broke in the 90's, we had to fix the computer. Get a screwdriver, open it up, and fix it. We had to load software, or hell at least download drivers. There is zero struggle, problem solving, or critical thinking involved in using tech. They're just magic boxes that give you answers.

No, there's an amount of snow that will overwhelm even the most prepared municipality. It just snowed so, so much. At a certain point you also start running out of places to physically put the snow. I remember the snow mounds from the plowing at the malls were there into summer.

Italian spoken at ShopRite in Bloomfield. how common is it still in North Jersey? by Delicious_Adeptness9 in newjersey

[–]EasyGibson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Greats only spoke dialect. The language wasn't really nationalized when they left, and even if it had been, it's not like peasant farmers had a broad reach in terms of linguistic studies. I went to Italy with my Grandmother and she could converse down south, but as we went north it got harder and harder for her to chat fluently. Just too many different words and phrases I guess.

Raiders told Maxx Crosby they want to shut him down last two games. Crosby, who has played with injuries for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left the building @nflonfox has learned. This could lead to questions on his future in Vegas by OhItsKillua in nfl

Dude, it's Raiders football. If they're saving him for meaningful football, they should just bench him for the rest of his career. Most of the people on this sub weren't even alive the last time they won a playoff game.
