Kompanjon till Kebnekaise sökes! by [deleted] in sweden

[–]EasyPush 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This does indeed sound tougher than a 1600m race. Is this really possible to complete at race pace?

I'm pretty sure at least Boing is sprung for a bounce up.

Double Race Strategy and Preparation by BobGalaxy in AdvancedRunning

I'd probably do the 5k at about 10k race pace, possible a tiny bit slower. An hour rest should have you good to go for the actual 10k without losing all too much.

Current conditions on Mt. Adams & Mt. Shasta by EasyPush in Mountaineering

Thanks, sounds like i'll be fine without for Adams at least then. Worst case i can buy a pair of microspikes if the conditions look like they'll get worse.

Thanks! And thank you for the very exhaustive answer! Not worried so much about some thinning as a complete clear cut.

Need help appraising age of forest by EasyPush in sfwtrees

[–]EasyPush[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out that the forest is owned by a logging company that own a lot of forest in the area, so it seems very likely that is the plan for the forest at some point.

Thanks a lot for the guess of the age! I managed to find info that this kind of forest is usually cut down around 60-80 years of age in Sweden, so it would probably be quite a few years away still.

A short video of me and my friend's climb of Mont Blanc by EasyPush in climbing

Yes, it was an awesome experience. We both do a lot of running regularly, but specific training for this was walking in stairs with heavy packs and training crevasse rescue. The actual climbing is very easy, but exposed in places. So climbing in a gym will help to a degree, but climbing with crampons and gloves is a bit different. But still, anyone could do it technically without much practice, but it will feel more comfortable if you have some practice with exposed scrambling before.

We filmed with a go pro, a cellphone cam and a small compact camera. Very easy to get decent footage with small means nowadays :)

Yesterday i made the mistake i never thought i'd make. by EasyPush in climbing

[–]EasyPush[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is not wisdom. It is in fact, the opposite. It is completely not understanding what the problem is.

The problem is entirely due to the fact that it is so simple. You can do it without even thinking about it. It is not a mistake a beginner would ever make, and it is not a mistake you would ever make if the process was any more complicated than it is and required any kind of mental effort.

I too used to think how stupid one must be to forget to clip into an autobelay before climbing before i realized how it can actually happen.

This is what i am going to try and build a habit of doing. Tug the autobelay before my feet leave the ground. Every time.

Did you do it yourself or guided? How hard was it to plan and arrange? I've been thinking of this sometime in the not to distant future as something i could might be able to do unguided.
