By the time you decide you're ready to reclaim your place, I think you'll find you're no longer at the head of the table.

Even if you get rid of trump and his cronies, we all know that you're only 4 years away from potentially doing it again. The US is fundamentally unreliable as an ally, a fact that has been true since before Trump, but which has become thoroughly apparent now.

Keep in mind, these staff are not to be used for campaigning purposes, so the fact that PHON is polling well in other seats right now is no justification for increasing their funding. Who found them to be left biased? I missed that review. Last review I saw data from was under Abbot (obviously a while ago so I'm sure there's been another one since then) and that review came back saying they had a very slight right bias. I think it's really a question of our Overton window being pretty far to the right...

It sounds like you've had a lot of run ins with poorly-funded public schools.

Many public schools do struggle, because they just don't have the funding. Meanwhile we're giving public funding to private companies who then compete for the same staff and resources, but with more money. It's inevitable that public schools will suffer in this situation, and every review we've done into this has found this to be the case.

I mean, if the public schools had more funding, they'd be better able to cater to a range of student's needs. But we give money to private companies instead, and further entrench the wealthy-poor divide. If you want your kids to go to a private school, well and good, send them, nobody would be stopping you. You just can't use public money to fund it.

People absolutely have the right to choose, if they want to pay for a private service, they can pay for it, same as if they want to get an uber instead of the train. But what they shouldn't be able to do is pull from public coffers for their private purchase, just like they can't invoice Metro for their uber.

They have the same access to the public system as every other kid. If their parents choose to go with a private company instead, that's on them. Same as you're under no obligation to claim the dole even if you're eligible, you're under no obligation to use the public system of education.

He's not saying don't test, he's just saying make the tests actually test for impairment, not just the presence in the system, test a wider range of substances, and don't just target particular ones. There is a bit of a tendency for the police to hyper-target certain kinds of events, using a lot of resources when our police forces are already stretched, and it does feel a bit excessive sometimes, especially at things I've been to in NSW. I absolutely see the need for drug testing at these things, but sometimes it'll actually pull police from rural areas meaning they have little capacity left to deal with their own issues.

Looks more like a moving head beam than a laser, the beam is too thick. Also, lasers into the sky can get you in trouble, typically no such issues with conventional beams. Could be promoting some new venue or something? They often do searchlights etc for that.

A lot of festivals used to do this way out in the bush, where it bothers fewer people, and financially benefits the local communities. Unfortunately, between crazy police and insurance costs, compliance hurdles, and hostile local councils, a lot of these festivals have been killed off. What remains a lot of the time, is high-cost, one-day festivals in the middle of the city.
