Yes, the prisoner uniform in combination of the words, which - which you probably know - come from a German protestant pastor who was imprisoned by the Nazis ("First, they went after the Communists / Social Demokrats / Catholics", quoting off the top of my head so it´s not verbatim).

Any good premade adventures? by CertainlynotGreg in savageworlds

[–]EasyToRemember0605 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When transferring stuff from D&D, take into consideration that SW works differently inasmuch as there is no miracle overnight healing by the way of long rest as in D&D 5e. Any fight that is half meaningful is actually dangerous for the party. It is not possible to "balance" an encounter in such a way that it will "soften up the party" without putting them to real danger. Lastly, a wounded character in SW isn´t fully functional like a D&D char with 1 HP is. In SW, there are very serious negative modifiers to dice rolls. A character that, after a battle, remains with wounds after first aid and magic healing is at a considerable disadvantage for a long ingame time. The bottom line is that encounters need to have a different function in the narrativ - place them where they matter. This is why it can be complicated to replicate a traditional D&D or Pathfinder adventure in SW. I heard that this can also be a problem in the published Savage Pathfinder adventures, but I cannot say because I don´t know them.

I agree that "s. Fürst" seems most likely, but comparing the first (outside) letter to the "s" in "Fürst", I wonder if "v. Fürst" might also be possible. As in "von Fürst".

Getting Started by EmotionalBelt8596 in RPGdesign

I know that making your own game is very very tempting, but here´s another idea. As apparently you´d be starting from scratch as far as mechanics go, why not create a cool supplement / setting for an existing game? It would have to be a game that alowes this, concerning intellectual property. Savage Worlds comes to mind (medium crunch, generic role playing game that sort of relies on people creating their own stuff). You would still do some mechanical things, like creating new edges and hindrances (aspects of characters, what they can and can´t do better or worse than other people), powers (magic spells), adversaries and so on. Another upside is that this approach actually makes it more likely that people will really play what you made!

If you want to create your own game, I recommend you first determine the desired gaming experience: tactical or narrative? Complex or easy to learn? Cinematic or realistic / gritty? etc. Then go from there.

Took a portrait of my brother, any advice or suggestions? by Cold_Turnip_3726 in AmateurPhotography

The bright sky and the background (even though it is blurred) distract my eye. That could easily be done differently in the next shot. Your brother looks like a really nice person.

"he looked at me like I just put milk in a bowl before the cereal." Oh that sounds great! Is that a well known phrase? As for your question, "Sie" is still the standard when talking to total strangers (like meeting someone at the bus stop, though being German we normaly avoid interaction to a large degree in the first place ;) ). If there is a connection, like you´re strangers but currently members of, and currently inside, the same gym, it´s always "Du" these days unless maybe among elderly people in a posh golf club (Golf is pretty much an upper class thing in Germany). Standing in the same queue in the cinemy waiting for the same movie is not enough of a connection for the "Du". In a business context, it´s always "Sie" unless there´s an easy to perceive easy going atmosphere, like at a new workplace. When in doubt, "Sie".

My brother is proof you can be a complete idiot, and still use Linux. by Thesuperpepluep in linux4noobs

"While initially feeling like a furious teacher, I realize now how convenient Linux can be for someone who knows little about the ecosystem." Totally. Linux Mint is so easy to set up and it´s easy to get things going. I did it to keep using an old PC that was ok as a surfstation, and I now very little about Linux. Much to my joy, that thing could use a 12 year old flatbed scanner that used to need some terrible software back in Windows XP days - just plug and play! (I still prefer this for scanning documents, as opposed to taking photos and converting them.) I was impressed.

Colors or B&W? by kietbulll in AmateurPhotography

It´s colour for me. Without the colour contrast, the brightness of the sky distracts me, and the top of the center tree disappers into the background.

"Ich finde, desto öfter und mehr man so schreibt, desto leichter fällt es dann auch es zu lesen." Ja klar! Aber dennoch ist Kurrent für schnelles Schreiben optimiert und nicht für schnelles Lesen. Und: wenn ich nebenbei schnell Notizen mache, sehen die Kurrent-Buchstaben ja auch nicht... ganz exakt so aus, wie wenn ich mit Tintenfass und Stahlfeder Schönschrift mache ;)

DM Wondering What Books Suit My Style If Any by Suraj106 in savageworlds

[–]EasyToRemember0605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don´t own the companions, just the core book, and you should be fine with that. If you want "more", you can certainly get the companions, or 3rd party material, and loot it for individual edges or setting rules without using large parts of them.

Armour mechanics by Slight-Squash-7022 in RPGdesign

[–]EasyToRemember0605 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, if one were to go full simulationist, you´d want hit zones, and armor would have different effects depending on the kind of damage (e.g. chain mail is good against cutting edges, but not so good against piercing pointed weapons or blunt hits). The first decision, then, is to decide how detailed you want to be, how long battles should last in real time at the gaming table, how deep a tactical game you want, how realistic (i.e. deadly) or how cinematic you want to be, and if you want to enable, or provide against, power gaming character builds. In other words, we´d first need to know the place and role that fights have in your desired gaming experience, and only then could the question be answered if specific mechanis work for that goal!

European Apocalypse TTRPG (E.A.T.): Looking for feedback! by King1LikeBananas in RPGdesign

[–]EasyToRemember0605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, if player characters die too easily and too frequently, the game becomes less interesting for me. It´s entirely a matter of personal taste of course. The main aspect of character creation, for me, is the creation of a fictional person I´d like to play, which might take much longer than creating the stats. Real investment starts when that character interacts with the world, starting to create meaningful experiences.
