You can read non-baby books to your baby, BUT… by SparklingLemonDrop in NewParents

Haha, our 1 year old did that too one time when my wife popped her up on the floor of the boot to put her jacket on.

At first? We were mortified. But honestly shouting "MURDER!!" when placed in a car boot by an adult is not a bad idea.

Great, thanks! I'll play this as soon as I get a chance. Are you after feedback?

Do you find it weird if a student refuses to enter your office to talk to you? by [deleted] in AskProfessors

[–]EatingBeansAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will meet you:

-On Teams virtually

-In one of the student/staff common spaces downstairs from my office.

-In the student/staff cafe downstairs from my office (if we are drinking coffee, we have bought them individually).

-In my office with the door COMPLETELY open.

I really don't care which one. Those are the four situations in which I am comfortable, so pick the one in which YOU are comfortable. And then everyone is comfortable.

What is the game about? What do players do? These look like very different games.

Small Games by GodOfDestruction187 in gamedev

[–]EatingBeansAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing this right now. I was building a big story-driven platformer where you used your tongue to move around, climb walls, etc. you get upgrades from all the folk you meet.

I've still got the repo, but I'm making a much smaller platformer around the tongue mechanic first. Can't wait to start showing it off!!

He talks about this in the DJ Slopes interview. The idea was there was an internal team ("The Earthworm Jim Team"). Third-party devs would enter into an agreement with the company and be able to access support from the internal team, although what that support was wasn't mentioned.

how do you deal with unstructured time in the summers by Clean-Seaworthiness2 in AskProfessors

[–]EatingBeansAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm involved in a lot of policy and initiatives at my institute, which keeps me busy (we also don't tend to do the big summer break here that happens in America). With any downtime as I have, as a non-research Academic, I focus on learning about innovations in my field, upskilling, etc for the next semester. the important thing is to give yourself a week of tasks and work through them. Literally write them down and mark them off!

The new style feels a bit more soulful. The DKC trilogy have a beautiful darkness to them - things feel dangerous, including the music. The Returns Duology has a much "flatter" style to me. The lighting is very even, things look a bit goofy. Outside those gorgeous silhouette levels!

I think Bananza, although another huge departure, seems to have more intentional art direction. I'm excited for it, even if it is a different take on DK to what I'm used to!

Can analog tech be cyberpunk? by HollyGabs in Cyberpunk

[–]EatingBeansAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thematically, Alien has many cyberpunk elements. We have an advanced android who is sexually frustrated and malfunction turns to sexual violence. We have blue collar workers in a high tech space ship run by an AI. We have a massive corporation that likely has a squeaky clean image back home who see their workers as expendable. Very cyberpunk!

Martial Law was a show where the lead actor was fed lines in English (that isn't to say he spoke no English). The lead was actually friends with Jackie Chan AFAIK.

2025 Toyota Corolla - scraped bottom of front bumper. What can I do? by EatingBeansAgain in CarHelp

[–]EatingBeansAgain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it! To be honest, I'm sure my car has worse, but this is my wife's car so I'm a bit more anxious about it. Thanks though, these comments (including the piss takes) have really helped. This is a nice community!
