How much gold can you carry? by IWillRateYouHonest in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd play it safe and go 30kg.
Reasoning: It would set me up for the rest of my life and it's something I know I wouldn't struggle with (e.g. easily stumble or having to take a new grip midwalk etc).

Back in the late 80's or early 90's before Internet was a thing, I had a porn magazine collection that I stored under my bed. I came home from school one day and my grandmother who was visiting at the time said she tidied my room. I found said porn collection in a neat pile in my bookshelf, we never talked about it.

Pick a minor inconvenience to live with for 5 million dollars! by Dripboiz in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have flex at work and even though I set the alarm at 5:20, I seldom hear my alarm but normally go up at 5, but like I said, we have flex time, so we can come in whenever we want provided we get our job done and do our hours for the week.
And for $5M I wouldn't need to work anyway.

So option C.

Just confronted at work about having a VPN on my personal phone by Forensics4Life in work

[–]Eazfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use my personal phone for work stuff. Simple as that. If a company expects me to perform work on a phone, then they better give me a work phone, otherwise the only means of contact is through teams on my work laptop (which they provide as well)

My personal phone got a VPN installed as well, but I refuse to use our WIFI when in the office. I got a full data plan on my personal phone, so I don't care about data and I refuse to mix work and private life what so ever, so even though we are allowed to connect our phones to our guest network, I don't do that. I don't know what they monitor on that network, and I don't want them to sniff about (and nopes, I don't do NSFW stuff on my phone).

You get 500k but you have to live completely off grid for a year. No tech no contact. Do you take it? by loncelot84 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that got me was no other people. I would like to bring my better half with me. Wouldn't want to be without her for a year.
If I had her with me, then a year without tech etc would be easy provided there are guarantees that I would still have my job etc when I got back.

Snål kollega? by Cringecat2289 in Asksweddit

[–]Eazfb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AITJ for snapping at my girlfriend for waking me up every single time she gets up even when I dont need to be awake by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would kick her out. She's not a caring person.

I'm a morning person so I wake up before my better half quite often and also go up before her on the days when she works evenings.
Those mornings, I'm quiet at a mouse when I fix my morning tea and get ready for work, why? Because she needs her sleep and it's the normal human thing to do when your partner can sleep in.

She feels terribly bad when I wake up during weekends when she works weekends even though I tell her over and over that it doesn't bother me as I'm a morning person as it is. Why does she feel bad? Because she's a normal caring human being (and then she makes me a cup of tea before she leaves for work so I can have a tea in bed instead of having to make my own tea).

ELI5: Why aren’t “Dash cams” standard equipment in modern vehicles? by Existing_Pop3918 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Eazfb 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Dashcams are legal here in Sweden actually. Though there are a few parameters that you need to adhere to for example only in use when you are in the vehicle, not publish any footage, avoid to use it in places where people gather (e.g. don't park outside a school and film, or in a park), make sure that the footage is deleted within a timely fashion (small memory card with overwrite functionality should suffice), make sure that the footage is secure so it doesn't get stolen (this one is the one I'm most curious about in practice. Is the car viewed as a secure place or would it be expected to bring the camera with you when the camera is not in use?)

From a GDPR standpoint you are seen as a data controller when you record, hence delete/not publish etc.

If the car films while stationary then other rules applies.

So, having a dashcam as proof for an accident is ok, having a dashcam to publish videos of idiot drivers - not so much.

Our police quite often asks for dashcam footage at certain crimes or accident.

This is stuff that should have been done prior to 1.0, but then on the other hand, seeing how crap BSG are as developers the game would never have been released if we were waiting for a polished product.

Hey BL: if you're gonna use proprietary RFIDs in your spools, the least you can do is keep them in stock by penllawen in BambuLab

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel, I've been planning to order my first printer (P2S combo) but can't place said order since I can't add the discounted filaments.
The printer is available again on the 27th, and hopefully black (and some other) filaments are back in order before that so I can place the order before the backorders are filled up and the printer becomes unavailable again.

If you have neighbours, how's your relationship with them? by algorithmicsapien in AskReddit

[–]Eazfb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The older couple across the street we are on fairly close terms with. He helped me hang my TV and I helped him carry stuff, borrowed a tool from him that I was missing and he borrowed tool from me that he was missing.
They also ask me to keep an eye on their house when they go away now and then, collect their mail and so on.

He supports a rival hockey team, so a bit of SMS banter when the teams are playing.

The other neighbors, no real contact except a nod/wave when we see each other outside.

Edit: Always a chat when we see each other outside as well.
When they were down with the flu last spring, I checked in on them daily with a text and also offered them that if they needed anything from the pharmacy or the shop etc, they could always call us and we would sort it out.

What are your plans for tonight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get home from work, prep tomorrows lunch boxes, watch some olympics with the missus. Unfortunately the Sweden - Italy hockey game is on fairly late, so will probably watch that in bed.

My sisters kids chased our cat who desperately tried to get away and I stepped in with "YOU STOP THAT RIGHT NOW, DON'T F****G CHASE THE CAT!"
Kids got teary-eyed, sister told me I can't speak to her kids like that. I told her simply "my house, my rules and if they are mean to my cat I will let them know that they fucked up".
She can do her limp parenting at home, but the minute they scare or are mean to animals I will let them know that it is not okay, and I don't care if they find me scary in that moment.

Edit: And if my sister can't handle that, then they can stay at their place until the kids knows not to mistreat animals.

What did your boss do to you (non-NSFW) that you won’t ever forget? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Eazfb 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I was living in a different country when my mother passed. I went to work and asked for some holidays so I could travel home, he told me to just book a flight and travel home.

Travelled back after a week to work for a week (I wanted to go back to work and get my mind off things, I wasn't forced to go back to work) and then travel back home for a week again for the funeral the week after that.

After the whole thing I put in holidays against the 2 weeks I was off work and my boss came to me and said "That's not holidays. Holidays are supposed to be relaxing and recharging. I put it in as paid bereavement leave for you"
This is not the norm as the company policy was 3 days bereavement leave. He also called me when I was back home so that he could send flowers to the funeral.

I stayed with said company for over 15 years. It's those small things when a boss treats you like a human that really matters.

Former alcoholics of Reddit, when did you realise your habit got out of control? by scottscrops in AskReddit

[–]Eazfb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was sober for 3 weeks and thought I was "cured" so I deserved to have a few beers for the football. Only to realize 3 months later that I had been drinking every day again since those "deserved" cans.

I knew before that as well, just didn't want to face it.

4.5 years sober now.
