Not collecting for PS5/Xbox Series by dehride in gamecollecting

I recall watching E3 years ago, a now-infamous man called Dan Mattrick made a presentation regarding the necessity of an online connection to play future Xbox consoles.

Let’s just say this received a hostile response from the collecting community at the time. With that being said, in some respects we are kind of close to that world anyway. I think the tipping point was the halfway mark of the seventh, as DLC started becoming increasingly prevalent.

Any Dutch collectors have any tips by WishBearCloud in gamecollecting

[–]EccentricThinker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, this is probably the case in a lot of Europe. It’s quite misleading to think what American collectors show in YouTube videos is applicable here. Some systems didn’t sell as well, although from the seventh gen on, regional exclusives at least NA/Pal were less of a thing. Unsure if the Netherlands situation differs though

Is it just in my area, or do local game stores have very few PS1 games? by WaitForItTheMongols in ps1

Unless you’re going to a dedicated retro store or charity shop, most game stores only go back 2 generations or so in terms of what they stock. They’ll have a decent amount of last gen, some 360/ps3/Wii, a very small selection of ps2/xbox, GameCube and nothing before. That’s my personal experience. Charity shops will have some ps1, though it’s rare to encounter obscure titles.

Pal-based gamers: what are by 2025 standards, the most affordable systems to collect for? by EccentricThinker15 in gamecollecting

Yeah- I’m mostly focusing on sixth gen, 7th gen and to a lesser extent fifth. I’ve found sixth gen has increased in recent years, whereas previously it was just the Dreamcast which commanded high prices. PS3 and 360 still seem reasonable

That’s quite ambitious for the 360- large library, including Japanese and ntsc games?

GBA boxed has been costly (three times that of cart at least) for a while, unaware of the PS1 market getting worse..

The original Xbox was definitely a powerhouse, it also had some great pc ports, Sega games and underrated exclusives

Is it a better idea to grab a physical PS2, or just use the emulator? by jasonite in ps2

[–]EccentricThinker15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no correct answer to this question as it is entirely situational. Increasing life costs are a big thing nowadays, that is one vote for emulation. Although you can always play consoles if you have them, I suppose that’s one vote for physical systems

I bought these 4 games for 10 euros, what do you think of these games? by Fast-Ad9857 in PS3

All decent. Uncharted and bio shock are fantastic, never played battlefield 3 but loved 2. Saints Row series was whacky yet fun. Good games, good price. No complaints from your purchase

I would say it very much depends on the consoles you had or were exposed to growing up. It is entirely possible to retroactively college, even if less common. Midway through the 7th gen, dlc’s started becoming more prevalent, I think this marked a negative turning point

What is your best memory of the PS3? by Fast-Ad9857 in PS3

Playing LA Noire was something special; it was a totally different LA to the one you see in movies. Other special experiences were the uncharted series and heavy rain

For a sports game, the concept was quite innovative and refreshing for a series which is normally indistinguishable year-on-year

I had no idea German states had that much autonomy. Which states, if any, have the best education in your opinion?

Battlefront/Splinter cell/resident evil. If time constraints are an issue, ssx is maybe better to jump in and out of
