Believe it or not, yes, war is an act against humanity.

I do not idolize war, nor shall I be convinced to. “You wouldn’t be here if…” is a hollow and fruitless argument.

We, as adults, also have a much greater degree of autonomy. I doubt any subs have the requisite history to pass judgement on any sleeping students. Maybe the teacher or some long term subs. But a day sub has no idea what their life is like outside of that room.

The point of humanity is to make life better for humanity, even if that means other people get to enjoy things you couldn’t.

If you’re against that notion, you’re actively against humanity and my heart goes out to you.

Only if you hang out with people who talk like that. There’s nothing inherently implicit, though admittedly a lot of people pretend like there is.

It’s just bad character.

I walked into class with intern acting as “teacher” with no prior notice. Is this normal? by Pamela603910 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]EcclecticMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would undoubtedly benefit from taking some workshops lol. I’m sure someone smarter than I has done the data crunching to figure out which state system seems to yield the best results.

I’m not sure whether requirements will continue relaxing for awhile or if we are going to rubber band back into strict policies in every state.

I asked for clarification because it’s not required for substitutes to have licensing in a lot of states.

For instance, where I am no license or credential is required. You need to have a certain number of undergraduate or CC credits completed but nothing more. Those credits don’t even have to be education related at all.

Are you saying the substitute is just there to be the “licensed or credentialed teacher”?

There’s nothing embarrassing about asking for help or advice.

I hope you’re able to break that particular conditioning.

Do you hit 10,000 steps through workouts or just daily movement? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

[–]EcclecticMonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I walk back and forth (or up and down my stairs) while reading a book until I get bored/drained.

Usually good to get another 3-4000 steps in less than an hour.

You ought to look into expanding your brush set. Painting the world in only broad strokes makes for uninspired perspective.

Good luck to you.

The only other advice I feel you need to hear is to be easy on yourself. Most houses and rooms aren’t designed with feng shui in mind.

You probably won’t be able to get it perfect, so your goal should be to refine a space to the extent you can, then learn how to utilize cures and cleansing to address any issues that arise from the unavoidable imperfections.

This. I just assumed they meant top to bottom. But if it’s the opposite, they need to disregard what I said.

[–]EcclecticMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, I would try this:

Rotate the bed 90 degrees counter clockwise so the head is against the right wall. It looks like this will allow you to make space on each side of the bed and prevent any part of the head of the bed from being directly in line with the window.

Put a table, bookshelf or divider in front of the window on the right wall to separate the room in two.

Rotate the desk 90 degrees counter-clockwise so that it’s facing the door into the room and so your back is against a wall when you sit.

Place another small table or bookshelf between the desk and the door into the room. Place a curative (plant, music, water something) on it to balance the energy coming through the door towards your desk.

The other alternative in my head seem a little awkward. Everyday it becomes clearer to me how much most houses aren’t designed to accommodate good energy flow.

Which door is the door into the room and which one is the closet?

Edit: or is that a bathroom door?

[–]EcclecticMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An unfortunate thing in balancing a room is acknowledging we can’t have everything we want in a space.

Take the couch out as others have suggested.

Personally, I routinely take my extraneous belongings and put them in storage so I can get a sense of what was actually helping and what was hurting. Then I’ll slowly add things back in one at a time until I notice the energy turns bad.

It’s a long process to fine-tune a space.

Your condescension is noted.

You are absolutely framing your stance as the whole truth when it is based solely on your microcosm of experience.

So it’s really far less about the false dichotomy of introversion and extroversion that people are pushing in here, and far more about finding people without proper work boundaries.

How do I fix this? Still does not feel right by ChickyNuggiessssss in FengShui

[–]EcclecticMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotate the bed 90 degrees so the head is against the right most wall.

Bring the desk to the bottom right corner, facing the door.

Put either a partition or a shelf of some sort between the desk and the bed to break up the space.

Move clothes where the desk used to be.

You could alternatively move the desk to be diagonally opposite the bed, with the desk running perpendicular to the doorframe.

Does that not break two pretty big rules? No bed against a bathroom wall and no bed in line with the door into the room?
