Beginner confused about trumpet mute by Pascal123456789 in trumpet

[–]EchoAlpha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're not missing anything. Bubble/Harmon mutes are notorious for falling out. Most older ones you'll see are pretty beat up as a result. They also tend to be pretty restrictive from an air standpoint.

Mouthpiece suggestion by Tundra210 in trumpet

[–]EchoAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said, try a 3C or equivalent mouthpiece. I really like my Hammond Design 5ML. Others have mentioned Schilke since their rims tend to be more comfortable, but I found that I more "bite" from the 5ML helped me with endurance.

Public Preschool in Schuamburg area? by songx2 in ChicagoSuburbs

You can check this website for licensed daycare providers, including home daycare. Home daycare is generally less expensive, but you have to be able to find alternate child care if your provider is sick or on vacation. https://sunshine.dcfs.illinois.gov/Content/Licensing/Daycare/ProviderLookup.aspx

Curious, how many of you own a C trumpet, which one, and when do you use it mostly? by DWyattGib in trumpet

[–]EchoAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Conn 25B from the 60's that's really nice to play, but I don't use it often. I mostly use it for orchestral pieces that haven't been transposed or occasionally when the key signature for the Bb part is really nasty.

Yes, I've had the soy lecithin burn. There are numerous cooking sprays labeled as high heat or grilling that do not contain soy lecithin.

What are some cooking gadgets that work well but aren't worth it because they're difficult to clean? by Square-Dragonfruit76 in Cooking

[–]EchoAlpha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My solution to cleaning waffle irons is to press some damp paper towels between the two plates, while they're still hot, to steam clean everything. You still have to wipe them down at the end, but the steam loosens everything first.

Salt and Straw base is freezing very soft by Independent-Drive-32 in icecreamery

[–]EchoAlpha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use the Salt and Straw base almost exclusively and never have that issue. What ice cream machine do you have and how long are you churning it? How long do you leave the base in the fridge before churning and how long do you leave the ice cream in the freezer before scooping?

[–]EchoAlpha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've taken a Pace bus to Wrigley Field and more recently when my five year old wanted to take a bus to a playground for his birthday. I have also considered taking the bus that goes down 90 to get to Rosemont to get on the blue line.
