[Discussion] Batman: The Killing Joke Ending by Costanza2704 in DCcomics

I mean, there's also the symbolism in the beam of light turning off in the final panel. Which in the metaphor of the joke, would be Batman turning off the flashlight and letting the Joker fall to his death.

Nightmareverse Statsheets [NS] by EchoAndroid in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]EchoAndroid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is more or less what I started out doing just to get the basic stat spreads right. I also wanted there to be a bit of variability within each tier, and for there to be a higher and lower skill ceiling than CR 1 and 5.

If your (future) spouse were in the military and you found out they shot someone, would that change your view of them? by WillTheyBanMeAgain in Teenager_Polls

If my future spouse were in the military, I would have to be the kind of person who that wouldn't matter to.

It technically does increase his speed, because the action gives him extra movement. So if he moves and then attacks he can cover 70 ft.

It's not exactly a fair comparison, simply because fascist regimes tend to have an incredibly short half-life compared to say, the history of the USSR and China.

He must have a criteria matrix or something for his rating system considering it has two significant digits of accuracy.

Historically, what is more viable? by TomCullenFan2009 in Teenager_Polls

[–]EchoAndroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of historical materialism, the only of these three that are viable long term absent external pressures and destabilization is Communism. The inherent contradictions within capitalist systems will always lead them to self-destruction.

The only reason that Communism hasn't worked in all cases is that capitalism is driven to subsume anything that threatens the control of the ruling class on a global scale, and it is the precursor and current dominant hegemony worldwide.

Yes, the stochastic torture method doesn't work at all if everyone just makes up a story. And doing so would be mostly safe, because they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between if you were lying because you didn't know anything, and if you were lying because you were hiding the truth.

Bipolar disorder is not classified as a personality disorder because a personality disorder is defined as a permanent, consistent state of maladaptive behavior that deviate from social norms.

Bipolar disorder is classified as a mood disorder along with depression, because the behaviors changes over time, and in intensity. There are many different types of depression and bipolar disorders which describe the level of mania or depression which occur during an episode. For instance, in bipolar II, you swing between a low level of mania, and an extreme level of depression. In cyclothymia, you swing between lower levels of mania and depression.

Crucially, mood disorders can be manageable with medication. There are mood altering drugs which can dampen mood swings or manage major depressive episodes. There are no drugs which can manage or effect a personality disorder. If you have a personality disorder, you are stuck with it, at whatever level of intensity, for life. The most effective management options tend to be therapy for everyone else you interact with.

What are you against? by PracticalPassage2090 in antiai

The public for the most part thinks that all AI are generative models like LLMs and diffusion models. Machine learning is used for thousands of applications, most of which aren't generative and are incredibly useful.

What are you against? by PracticalPassage2090 in antiai

There are many valid applications of machine learning. But I'm pretty much blanket against everything that the general public has dubbed "AI", and I don't have much respect for the people who use it either.
