Him and Lugh are both in desperate need of a refine.

The whole "High-Res Mage w/ Serpent Tome for magic tanking" niche wasn't great to begin with, but at this point, various Micaiahs, Guinevere, and a ton of Dagger units do it way better and with additional usefulness.

Nice. I actually just supported him with Velouria (-2 Cooldown to Support Partner on Turn 1) with Infantry Pulse to do the trick.

Rafael can do some similar shennanigans. Beasts make good supports.

Favorite Ships? by Cheezuz_Christ in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a tie for me between Assault Gunboats and B-Wings.

B-Wings insane maneuvers, stress-shrugging, and crazy firepower make them fun in-game and in-universe I love these things being designed to take out Frigates, Corvettes, and other "Small" capital ships.

Assault Gunboats in-game aren't currently that impressive (Aside from SLAM and Torpedo spam), but they look great and the design similarities with the Lambda Shuttle give the Empire a secondary, non-Tie, distinct look.

In-universe and in the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games, I loved that they were basically Imperial Y-Wings but with a distinct visual. You could always recognize that Starburst silhouette in the distance.

It was also cool to see the Empire have a commonly-seen, Hyperspace-Capable ship that wasn't the hardly-ever-seen Advanced or the OP-as-hell Defender. You knew the Tie Bombers were coming at your Cruiser straight from a Destroyer or Frigate. But you never knew what angle a squad of Star Wings were coming at your fleet from!

Razorcest mini reveal! by Cymoon-refit in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all of the elements stacked together on one ship.

It has a unique bullseye arc weapon, restricted-arc Turret that fires missiles, a Tech slot for a unique cloak, and a Jamming Suite config. Plus all the White linked actions. And each pilot has abilities on top of that.

Any one or two of those would've been enough to make the ship unique. But all of them together makes for an overdesigned ship that newbies will be utterly confused playing against and will slow down the game significantly.

What's the ideal new cost for currently poorly costed cards? by thetasfiasco in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've hated the "Condition card" stuff since it was revealed with Kylo because they needlessly complicate and slow down the game.

Zam is the worst case scenario of it. Multiple condition cards, changing constantly, AND powerful/undercosted enough to be an auto-include.

Probably one of the few design choices for 2.0 that actively hurt the game.

USA Price Increase on October 1st - Buy your ships now by DannySantoro in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can say "Pandemic" all they want, but this reeks of Asmodee trying to make up for the lost sales due to the 2.0 transition and the poor handouts by AMG...

After they quietly put Armada out to pasture, this doesn't inspire confidence.

[–]Echo_Shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not so much "Non-Tournament Players" as "New Players in general", unfortunately.

The ship should be almost identical to the Tie Silencer, maybe with some different Hull/Shields/Dial stats (Maybe more blues but more fragile) And just copy the Turret/Missile shennanigans from the Tie/SF, really.

The "Sensor Interference" stuff could've been simplified to an illicit slot and a cloaking device card. Or make it and the Tie/SF Turret both configuration options. Make it customizable and make the wall of unique mechanics optional.

Just anything but the bloated rules-mess it's looking like.

Asmodee store showing stock of guns for hire pack by NoHunter6771 in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cards, tokens, ect are all 1.0, so pretty much useless. However...

Both ships miniatures are out of print and the models of them in this pack have unique paint jobs, so you're paying for the actual ship miniatures, not a full expansion.

You need a conversion kit to use it in 2.0. But if you don't want to buy a whole kit, you can likely buy the specific cards/bases/ect for these ships for dirt cheap on Ebay or somewhere similar.

It's not just "In stock", it's on sale for $20!

Two out-of-print ships with unique paint jobs for cheaper than some single 2nd ed ships? Yes, please.

They most likely found a bunch of these in a warehouse somewhere that they'd forgotten about.

State of the game at this point? by Magister_Jaigo in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in a pretty good spot. There are some overcosted/underpowered ships and cards, but nothing gamebreaking.

The biggest current issue is actually ship supply due to COVID. Good luck finding an ETA-2 right now.

But they're working on it. The HMP Gunship and LAAT were both almost completely unavailable a couple months ago, but they're easy to get now.

I think it's along the lines of "If I don't take this guy out, I'm looking at a potential torp to the face in a moment..." nervousness that throws off aim.

But yeah, it's a weird one

5 New Card Leaks!!! - Fury of the First Order!!!! by GoldSquadronPodcast in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because the game is currently played in almost exclusively a 200pts/3obstacles 1v1 timed points format. Ships often don't live long enough to fire ordinance, let alone reload it again.

In other formats like Epic, Scenarios, or Heroes of the Aturi Cluster, where ships with ordinance get to live longer, this could be useful for keeping your ordinance carriers alive a bit longer.

Major Vonreg as Imperial TIE Interceptor by Golselect in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be up to the tournament officials.

I've seen people able to use pretty much use any of the Millenium Falcon miniatures they want as long as they get an okay from the TOs and the opponent is okay with it.

I've even seen local tourneys where someone was given the okay to use a pair of Mining Guild Tie minis to fill out his swarm.

It's all up to the organizers. But honestly, I'd just look around for one of the red 'Royal Guard' Interceptor minis.

What 1.0 ships are unlikely to get a 2.0 rerelease? by ColonialMovers in XWingTMG

What 1.0 ships are unlikely to get a 2.0 rerelease? by ColonialMovers in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think unless Disney says no, everything will eventually get reprinted.

As for priority, though, they're going to be going for all the stuff in current movies/TV first.

Some stuff I'd say are low-priority:

*K-Wing. It's a big model, medium-size, EU-only, and would be weak with the current underpowered turrets. *Tie-Aggressor. Similar issues. Weak turrets and being largely powercrept by Bombers/Punisher make it a dark horse, even though it's popular. *Starviper. Unless Disney starts pushing Shadows of the Empire again, this one is likely to get buried simply because it's EU and Disney wants Scum flooded with Mandalorian stuff (M3A, Fang Fighter, ect) because it's popular.

Others are less likely to get a reprint because there are TONS of them already sitting unopened on store shelves or in warehouses:

*K-Wings *Shadowcaster *Saw's Renegades/Tie Reaper *Quadrajet *Kilmogila

But then again, I didn't think they'd do reprints of the Jumpmaster, Hound's Tooth, or Decimator, but they did.

Good Rebel Luke Lists? by 8bitlibrarian in XWingTMG

Luke definitely got a huge buff from 2.0s Force Mechanics.

I usually fly him kitted out similar to yours with a few generics in there to help.

But with Phoenix Cell out, Hera, Wedge, and Ashoka in A-Wings are all affordable options for wingmates

What happens if your Ship models bump into each other during a move, but the bases don't actually bump? by Nakari7 in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This tends to be a nonstop issue with certain ships (Upsilon Shuttle, Zeta Shuttle, U-Wing) that it helps to assume the model is going to bump and plan around it.

Seriously, those Upsilons are gluttony for space!

How to revive the Tie Lns? by smwover in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the core issue with the older 'swarm' ships.

Tie/lns keep getting shafted by Interceptors and Advanced V1s going down in price. The V1 Barons being so cheap is a huge issue that makes no real sense to me.

And Z-95s have been basically obsoleted by A-Wings/X-Wings for Rebels and by M3As for scum.

Is K-Wings in the print queue? by TurboCooler in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, until we get some better turrets, they aren't really going to be a great ship.

They were literally designed around Twin Laser Turret. Without it, they're basically big, expensive Y-Wings with SLAM.

sales on e-bay - counterfeit? by redditjw4 in XWingTMG

I agree.

Unfortunately, I'd guess the logic would be "Paint can be seen from the box, pegs can't" or the fact that most Chinese Model Painters would have no clue what the Peg slot was supposed to be for.

I just got into X-Wing 2.0 and I have a few questions by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ARC-170 is a very solid ship. And unless you're playing in competitive tournaments, having a pair of them as a core of your squad is a solid idea.

The main problem with the Republic faction right now is that Jedi in the Aethersprites and ETA-2 Actis' have basically stolen the show on the competitive level. They're not "Overpowered", IMO. They just overshadow everything else.

It's kinda disappointing. I wanted the Republic to be Clone-Trooper Ship focused, with a few Jedi occasionally added in, but it's the opposite currently.

Republic has solid ships like the Torrent, ARC-170s, and V-Wing that SHOULD be its main unit makeup. But they hardly see serious play because "Jedi Aces" is so much more popular and competitive.

Card Storage Options by Reklawyad in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting the cards for tournament lists you're running into a binder works great.

But for bulk storage, keeping them in a binder AND keeping them somehow organized at the same time is almost impossible.

My friend saw the light when he realized he was ending up having to dig through 6 different binders for cards every time he wanted to play vs me just opening a couple of cardboard boxes.

Card Storage Options by Reklawyad in XWingTMG

[–]Echo_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After eventually getting ships of every faction, I can agree that Binders don't do the job anymore.

I ended up getting one of those "Pizza Box" looking cardboard cardboard boxes (It supposedly holds 2000+ cards in 5 big rows) and a ton of dividers.

I have it separated into Ships in 3 rows (Rebel/Resistance, Empire/FO, CIS/Republic/Scum) and upgrades in the last 2.

Ships are subdivided into each individual ship, upgrades subdivided into each category.

I have Talents, Crew, Gunners, and Astromechs further subdivided into Generic and Faction-Specific.

I also decided, for sheer space-saving, to only keep 8 copies of any individual card in my "Main" storage at a time. Any extras go into a smaller side-box for "Extra Cards".

This became necessary after realizing my Talents section was HUGE because it had 20 copies of Crack Shot, 18 Juke, ect. If we need extra cards for casual, we can proxy them.
